    Another step maybe? A VERY light application of Nivea hand cream, rubbed carefully into the surface, then wiping it off like you didn't want it there, makes your ThinkPad look BRAND new, but AFTER what you did in this great video!

    I have an X260 and I used this on few deeper grooves, but just so lightly that it didn't make any difference. I'm too afraid to go full-on and I've also heard somewhere that older ThinkPads' lids are made a bit different material and they are better to polish. I just bought that thing so I don't want to make it look worse :D

    • @LaptopRetrospective
      @LaptopRetrospective  4 года назад +1

      Haven't seen an X260 to know the material type. If it's deep, it will not work.

    I have a newer X1 Carbon Gen 8. I just want to clean up the hand oil stains and some sticker residue stain from a sticker I left on too long. What is the best way to clean this up? Alcohol and water? I don't want to be too aggressive since it's fairly new.

    • @LaptopRetrospective
      @LaptopRetrospective  3 года назад

      Isopropyl alcohol would be a safe way to remove the sticker goo. As for hand oil, micro fibre cloth and eye glass cleaner.

    Just sharing my experience. those visible marks are mostly old trapped in the fluffy surface. the best solution for oil cleaning is alcohol. so what I do is to spray a generous amount of Dettol spray on paper towel and wipe the laptop. ill repeat the process 2 times but you dont really need to do that

    • @LaptopRetrospective

    Would this work on the back of a soft touch/rubber coated Fire tablet? I put some tape on it and the color from the tape transfered over into the rubberized coating on the back of the tablet.

    • @LaptopRetrospective
      @LaptopRetrospective  Год назад +1

      Hard to say, sounds like the coating is very susceptible. You could spot test a small area.

      @@LaptopRetrospective I'm not sure anymore, because I just tried Turtle Wax's Heavy duty (I worked my way up to the harshest) compound with Porter Cable's orbital automotive polisher and it did absolutely nothing to abrade the surface in anyway. Stain is still there.

    • @LaptopRetrospective
