I have a rod and screws in my tibia. My leg has never been the same. This was 17 years ago and I was deluded enough to hope the leg would get close to normal one day. Doctors do a great job of trying to convince patients because removal is "too hard" and their fragile egos can't take the thought that a procedure they performed is causing a problem. I've done all the PT in the world, modified to the point that all that's left is me nor using the leg ever again (soo crutches or wheelchair), to no avail. I'd rather have the leg amputated at this point than drag it around like a paperweight. I get that doctors are keen to "save the limb" and make what's broken look "pretty" again. They choose form over function far too often, leaving patients looking like a normal limbed human when the person doesn't function that way. Then we get offered drugs, a pat on the head, rather than brutal honesty: lose the limb, prosthetic, wheelchair. The consequences of the god complex rampant in medicine. If the implants bother a person don't allow yourself to be deluded as I was. Because you are probably correct that the implants need to be removed. The medical industry loves to get us to ignore what our bodies are screaming at us. They don't always knows best is what I mean, there are many doctors out there who do want the best for their patients and listen.
Bless u for this text here , I had a terrific Rd accident , righ leg full of metals start with femur ...going down , they saved my foot , even now in pains after 3 yrs , but so much metal s there , true operated nerve ... still a flap there , now going to take out the screws , of left leg , but the rod remain = nail , let's hope won't be a pr , but this screws really really hurts and I don't want to destroy my knee , I can give this advise , if patients feel they hurts ... all this screws need to get out , i can't say anything about the nail , pray 🙏 I be fine , wish the same to all needing this

I'm sorry to hear that. Did you ever get the screws removed?
