"Navio aeródromo" actually means "airport ship", although the name usually applies to carriers in Brazil. The name "aircraft carrier" is "porta-aviões"... But since the ship will operate drones in the Brazilian navy, and since she operated Ospreys in the Royal navy (and those are also "aircrafts"), it´s not incorrect call it a "carrier".

You're one of the few fellow Americans that is honest enough to admit that our imperial system is way inferior to metric. Not only that the metric system has more sense - 10 mm = 1 cm, 100 cm = 1 m, 1000 m = 1 km, etc, but the actual values of length and weight are based in physics or physical world if you want. On the other hand imperial system with its stupid 1/8", 3/8", pounds, ounces and what not, uses some arbitrary measures pulled out of someone's ass. I know that we Americans still feel exceptional and special (god knows why) but I think we keep saying to us that imperial is better out of pure spite.
Thankfully US military uses some of the metric units, mostly for distance. Like for example 10 klicks means 10 kilometers. Also cm are often used in measuring stuff in military. It's all very confusing, what's next, driving in the middle of the road, not on the left or the right side cause "we are special".

Back during the Falklands war the Royal Navy experienced being fired upon with Exocet missiles from the argentine air force. I believe one of their ships took a direct hit from one. Since then they have developed several different ways to avoid that happening again. A big part of those developments came from the American company that makes the Exocet and doing a sort of reverse engineering. By knowing exactly how that missile works and with what technology it uses they were able to create multiple defences against it. And in return the Royal Navy gave information gathered from the ship that was hit to the manufacturer of the missile so that they could make improvements to their weapon system. By the two sides working together both were able to make improvements in both attack and defence. Something of interest is that all ships in the american navy and the Royal Navy now have onboard a device that emits a signal that only Exocet missiles can receive. To put it in simple terms Exocet missiles do not work against ships in either of those two navies no matter who fires the missile. This had to be done because you never know when a country that is currently an allie may become an enemy as was the case with Argentina. It never occurred to anyone at the time that Argentina would invade sovereign territory of the U.K.

So when was this film actually made? (The credits for the people who actually made it were cut.) Given that Ocean was decommissioned from the RN in Feb 2018 and was sold to Brazil. She is now called the Atlantico.
Britain's biggest warships (plural) are now the QEC carriers.

You take bote. You stuff tings on bote. Shooty tings with dakka and missiles, or rooms to store dem planes in for dem fly bois to fly. Also tings that let bote see other botes or other stuff and aim shooty dakka at dem. You also need tings to push bote and to push trons through wires so bote tings can have flashy lights on dere tings that actually lit. Den add struts to bote so tings stay togetha. Den you add some fancy rooms for da humes ta live in, cause they need dat for some reason. Den slap some more metal to bote so ya don't lose bote to small dakka. And den put some of dem mech bois on it so dey cans keep bote being a bote and not a submarbote. Oh, and make sure da gnob in charga da bote has an awesome mustache squig. Das VEEERRRY important for da morale of da bote. Don't forge' da WAAAGH flags eithah!
Oh, an' don't forget da spiky bits in case ya want to ram em. Humes don't seem to like dose anymore for some reason tho. O' course, dey don't even paint it red or yellah either, so what do ya expect? Humes dumb sometimes.

Gone abroad. We having nothing but a model navy and air force and army, nothing to boast about. To think that we used to rule the waves until government decided otherwise, and has been slashing the armed forces ever since. It would be interesting to know what strength we have left in our country.

Why did the captain not (sarcastically) radio the Iranians to ask if they would like them to recover their crashed drone? Golden opportunity for some British humour missed.

in my eyes it looked like the iranians were wanting the task force to fire first so they can blame them for first shots fired. it’s probably not the case but idk it seemed like they wanted to instigate it so they could look like victims.
