RADM LeClair... I have nothing to say about him other than I admire how humble he is. That last part about being able to replace a piece of a ship, but not being able to replace a life is very strong. THAT is a good leader, that some in our armed forces need to take notes from.

I hate the LCS ships with a passion. I'm a sonar technician, the sonar module on LCS ships failed. However, the Navy kept sending them sonar technicians. During that time they never went underway, they would just stand permanent three section duty watches and deck maintenance. I know a lot of really good people who got out because they never got to do their job, had their promotions stymied, Amber basically completely disregarded. Now our rate is undermanned because so many people got out.

The Hulls can't handle waves due to the aluminum used in construction. You read that correctly, the DEI navy built a ship that can not handle waves. The hulls were bending and the welds were cracking from what other heavier ships classified as light waves. They can not survive a single hit from an enemy bomb or missile without sinking. Aluminum is acceptable in airplanes because they have to fly but the worst choice for the hull of a Navy vessel.

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐- SamSlam!
Another 5-Star-SamSlam vid as only Sam and team can do - awesome review. Such a cool ship and great behind the scenes story of the navy of the future, that's here today. Kudos to you Sam for the standard you have set for these vids, it says a lot that the Navy and Admiral LeClair entrust you to tell their story. No doubt they were impressed with your T38 (puke-a-thon) vid and all the millions of views since. Can't wait to see what comes next 😎

I work as a Chief Engineer aboard a twin screw conventional Tugboat at Moran Towing Corporation in Brunswick, Georgia. I am a Honorary Plankowner of the USS. Savannah LCS-28 because when she came to the Port of Brunswick's Mayor's Point Terminal in February 2022 to be Commissioned, it was our Moran Tugboats Dorothy Moran and Ann Moran that docked her. We where all designated Honorary Plankowners and we have plaques aboard the Tugs designating them and us as such. I have a hat and commissioning book from that event. Next year I plan to work for Military Sealift Command so ill probably see this ship again during an UnRep ( Underway Replinishment ). Awesome you toured the exact ship I had the honor to help dock.

Are these the ships the Navy quit making because they were not good in rough seas and they couldn’t find a mission for them?

It took them awhile but the Navy is dedicating the Independence Class for minesweeping missions and the Freedom Class for surface warfare.

With its large deck, Independence class LCS can also be a drone carrier. And its fast too unlike China's dedicated large drone carrier.

The small crew with multiple jobs is familiar to seeing the Sub crews but with fresh air and without the claustrophobia. Great video Sam, Adm LeClair seems like an awesome leader to his men and women.

I used to operate those heavy haul trailers under the LCS coming out of austals hangar. We would go about twice a year and move the ships out onto a barge then across the bay to a dry dock. Its unreal seeing them in person.

I am impressed, the Admiral said it correctly, an officer or NCO is required to bring up his subordinates to one day take their position and learn leadership while in the junior grades!! However there comes the responsibility to discipline as well when the need arises. That is usually the captain of the boat. In the air force it started with me on explaining to my troops what was okay and what was not okay!!

....every brand new project better brand new design have at first its flaws or chilhood issues and can be resolvable when time is passing, so, the using material: high grade aluminium alloy and shock of speeding in water are quite distructive, ...and secondly combination of gears, same gears unite many engines ( this last matter mostly on Freedom class)

Independence class LCS's are honestly a solid platform with a powerful engineering plant, and the Navy is slowly but surely honing in on their mission strengths. I'm stationed onboard one right now and honestly enjoy it.

Good Day. Another interesting & educational video from you. San Diego has 4 live 24hour video cameras on RUclips. We watch the often. Naturally there is a special interest in these unusual ships. You have answered many of the questions that we have and the tour of the ship and the crew on board is excellent. I'm a former USAF TAC Vietnam Veteran.
Thank You, Best Regards and we will be watching more of your videos.
