You forgot to mention the old roidz rage as a side effect. I had a friend open admitting he took steroids and, although being a very good chap liked and respected by everyone, when he raged out he just took it straight on everyone, even older people. He _clicked_ like he was having some sort of a PTSD fit. He never hurt anyone but, in his own words, when this happens just let me rant until I _run out of fuel._

Age doesn't automatically deteriorate your health. It's the cumulation of factors that harm your health over time that you were either unaware or neglected. Most people become more sedentary as they age. Our food in society is not optiminal for long term consumption. It's now more processed than ever in any history of humanity. There are many foods you eat from resturants that are all processed with nutrients diminished or contain harmful elements that harm you.
Over time the accumulation is what leads to weaker heart amd nervous system, weaker endocrine system, and lack of nutrients. The last obstacle is the adoption of technology. Most people suffer from poor sleep due to blue light harming circadian ryhtme.
On top of this, if you take steroids. You are doing even more damage as your bodies natural endogenous production becomes completely dependant on the exogenous hormones. You will develop poor habits that are not healthy and not realize it because your hormones are not controlled by normal everyday factors. They are controlled by the drugs you take. Simply put. You will not be in tune with yourself. You cannot measure your habits with your hormones to develop healthy habits.

Keep telling yourself age isn’t biological and it’s in people’s changed behavior. I hope you manage to “stay active” and avoid aging like you claim so you can keep the car running for 500 years no problem! By your logic it should be no problem! Just stay active! Happy running 🏃

I thought about roids in college when seeing a teammate warm up with 405 on bench for 12. I struggled to get 385 once. He blew out his knee just coming out of his stance in a game, wasn’t touched. Turns out his ligaments were utterly shot because he was using such rapid weight increases and joints didn’t build up with his muscles. I think people don't know how steroids work, if you take them for a short period of time therefore not stopping your own production you can build a massive amount of muscle and keep it all if you had high testosterone before. From my experience I think this is how guys like alex eubank developed. Maintaining the extra fluid from the drugs and the new muscle tissue are two different things. A lot of these guys are much bigger than they could get without, but by no means does it mean they are staying on something. That tissue stays if you do it right, its cumulative. Makes sense because some maintain nice hairlines as well.

Finally, I came to the realization that my body shape is just not meant for exposed abs. My female trainer tried to offer me steroids many times to help me achieve my goal. I almost said yes a few times because I thought I wouldn’t be happy if I didn’t reach my goal.
Now, in my early 30s I am active, fit, do aerial sports and still don’t have noticeable definition in my stomach, but I know I’m strong in my core and that’s what counts.
I hate seeing men and women, especially young men and women get into steroids. But I also understand the appeal. Just hope if I can prevent even one person from getting started, I’ll be happy. I feel good in my body and my body is the only one I get. It’s important to take care of it.

Just like people who want to loose weight fast it is not sustainable. The lesson you learn through your journey are just as important as the results themselves. If you are really in it for health the you start to do other things than just worry about size. Speed, power, endurance, athleticism, and how good you feel are all important if not more than just being big.

Hello Dark Science, I really like your videos. They´re very informative and a bit scary at times, like for example in the episode on what happens to mammals in space/vaccuum conditions. As suggestions for future video topics, my ideas would be how blunt trauma ( e.g. induced in a car crash/plane crash, et cetera) causes death, what happens when someone overdoses on heroin and videos on illnesses like cancer, the Plague or other famous and deadly ones. Hope one of the topics will be featured in future episodes.

FYI, a cardiologist can easily use a non invasive ultrasound to measure your heart muscle and determine if you have early heart disease. If you have a problem, further tests may be required. TL;DR: you don't have to have your heart cut out to diagnose cardiomyopathy.

People will claim that there is a "safe" way to take steroids by having regular bloodwork but that will not tell them if they have an enlarged heart and by definition, steroids will elevate the bad cholesterol. Unless they have regular ultrasound of their heart, they will be no wiser however many blood tests they have. It all seems quite sad because now kids start with heavy cycles ridiculously early and statistics will then inevitably give us more and more of too young dead bodybuilders.

    LDL is not “bad cholesterol”.
It is only a problem when it’s oxidized by excess glucose and insulin.
I have high cholesterol for over 25 years, but I’ve done a CAC (Cardiac CT Calcium) test and instead of scoring over 200 which is typical for high LDL, and where 300 means severe disease, my score was 6.1.
Why? I’ve cut sugars out of my diet as much as possible so the oxidized plaques don’t form to cause LDL to clot.

    • @ildisiri

      @Derek-kj9mt 3 месяца назад

CACs only show calcification and can be misleading. The real culprit is narrowing of the arteries, and it's possible to have this without calcification (via soft or fibrous plaques). For this, a better test is the carotid ultrasound or coronary angiography. It's great when a CAC is a clean read, but don't get too comfortable with the idea it's the full picture (no pun intended).

I f I remember correctly cholesterol reducing drugs had only marginal effects on lowering stroke risk, simply because most cholesterol isn't taken up but bodily produced (something of a 1/9 ratio). Adding to that high LDL-levels were suspected to not be necessary conditions of blood vessel plaques itself but if the LDL had been damaged through ...
