ON TOP OF THE ACTUAL RESTORATION ITSELF.. just blows my mind. You deserve all of your success, and more. There's nothing I appreciate more than a well produced video.. and every time you upload I continue to be impressed.
They do that as a quick test to see if it's a forgery. Prints feel different than paintings. Edit: different paints and their ages have a different feel too
I really think you should keep all of the removed staples/nails/tacks etc in a jar to see just how many you remove in a year. You can show it to us at the end of every video, or surprise us at the end of 2021. 😊❤️

I don't think it's weird. I'm used to having other people working next to me, too, and now that we're suddenly all alone at home, it feels comfortingly familiar to have the sounds of someone working next to you. Sometimes music or podcasts or audio books are too distracting.
I'll be honest...I'm not an ASMR person...in fact, sometimes it bothers me a little to hear certain sounds (like scraping)...but a full 1-hour-twenty-two minutes of restoration is ::chef's kiss::.

I had some gaps in my wall I needed to address. So I did what all of us Julian fans would do. I took out my white chalk based conservation, fully reversible fill in medium. I overfilled, and rubbed off the excess with q tips, and proceeded with my archival, fully reversible paint and painted little dots. Because I didn't paint my wall to begin with. As such, it would be irresponsible of me to paint where it is not needed.
I'm usually more of a ASMR type of fan but idk man when it comes to your video I would rather hear your voice and sassy explanations rather than ASMR 😂

It’s a lot of work making sure that the studio is silent and that the passing trains, planes and automobiles are not disturbing the sounds but I’ll continue to do it when I can.
I used to watch your videos completely on mute and had no idea you were even talking....until one day the caption was on and it was fully narrated. Ever since i have eother listened or read your captions because it so relaxing... finding this old video that i missed completely free of narration has reminded me why i watched restoration videos on mute...they are so relaxing. I will probably keep listening to your videos but i may start watching other restoration videos on mute again.
The staples!! Oh my goodness!! There were so many staples. Whoever restored this before got staple happy. Julian, you did an amazing job as always. That was one dirty painting. Besides old varnish and dirt, it looked like there may have been some tar and nicotine from cigarette smoke. Thanks for this great video.

The staples!! Oh my goodness!! There were so many staples. Whoever restored this before got staple happy. Julian, you did an amazing job as always. That was one dirty painting. Besides old varnish and dirt, it looked like there may have been some tar and nicotine from cigarette smoke. Thanks for this great video.

I just said the most serious "SHUT UP" as I clicked on this video with the widest eyes I've had in a while.
