- South Pasadena Police Department responding to a traffic collision.
South Pasadena recently revamped their fleet by replacing most of their gas powered vehicles with Teslas.

It’s so weird not hearing an engine roar as they take off lol.

I hate that some police departments are going full electric. I think electric vehicles suck and if you agree.
👇
@@Hoffman10-q3w wait till they can't charge or power their vehicles and have to respond.
@Hoffman, Electric cars are amazing, of course it's best if they also get a few hybrid petrol cars , but 95% electric will suffice.

I was hoping someone would try to catch some of these soon! Awesome catch!!

No car car will ever last as long as the Crown Victoria! The P71/P7B still patrolling and kicking ass all over the US since the late 90s. The ole faithful P71/P7B will forever be the 🐐 of Cop cars.
To think all three were responding to a Prius that was over the posted residential speed limit by 4 MPH, is why I loved South Pasadena when I lived there.
It's amazing that you made all of that up. Description literally says they were responding to a traffic collision.

Like the car. I got a new Durango V8 for duty. I can’t say anything bad about the Tesla but I can assure you that I enjoy driving that Durango every single day. Make job a little bit better…
That's a much bigger vehicle, if you need the space obviously it's better.
And the v8 Roar😥
Nice catch never seen a police Tesla in my life but that was awesome
The best cop cars are the Ford Voctoria Crown and the Chevrolet Caprice.
U got that right
Awesome catches! I think your the first to catch a tesla responding in the US.

Legend has it after they left the parking lot the car was down to 60 percent charge
How long did you have to wait for these to go Code 3? I saw the news report and wondered if someone would try to get them responding. Small department with lots of other agencies on their doorstep. Really makes them look futuristic too. A far cry from the Crown Vic days! Nice video mate.
Soulless compared to the Vic, charger, caprice, and exploder.
0:10 when your late in Uber
Aggressive ass turn 😭 the cop js having fun 😂😂
I barely see uber teslas
The Police Department should have bought Jeep Wrangler 4xe instead!
Tesla Model S plaid police car would actually not be a bad idea in an area that does not get too cold in the winter. The plaid is pretty much the fastest street legal car on the market. 👍🏽
that third car didn't have any solid red in the front, rare catch!
None of them had flashing amber to the rear either.

Waste of tax payer dollars🤡
They are as quite as a tiger until the door handle breaks off
If you can afford it it may not be a bad idea. They are really quick and handle well.
Fully kitted out they are the same price as a Ford Explorer Interceptor. This is just acquisition purchase cost.
Amazing catches!!
imagine u in a car chase and the cops suddenly do a detour and smash into you at 300 million mph
the car is very, very cool and the blue and red lights are very, very bright. This video is very, very cool SHERIFFS❤❤❤❤
The last one looks like he wasn't ready for code 3 and was only about to learn code 2
ngl they look cool in police style
Watch them run out power on a chase I see that coming easier for criminal get away.
What a bunch of absurd nonsense. Mustang could not shake off a Model Y for 35 minutes. Model Y just easily caught up the whole time. Eventually had to call off chase over multiple jurisdiction and safety risk. Still had 1/3 the battery at the call off.
@@Neojhun 35 minutes and already at 1/3, what a joke.
Crazyy!! Damn good catch. 😮 Do they respond from the station often?
Nice video! These Teslas are kinda cool 😎
I can only imagine what happens, when someone calls 911 and none of their cars are charged up.
Smae thing as when no one remembers to get gas. Except that the 'charger' is at the station rather than a mile away.
@@EmperorNefarious1Every car gets gassed up every shift, requiring every officer who takes home a vehicle to have a charger is ridiculous. Same as having vehicles that have to be plugged in at the station.
Performance wise it’s a great idea. The cost the service and maintaining them is a bad idea that gets passed on to the taxpayers, not to mention repairing them. I am a former automotive service advisor.
So urgent bro left the truck open 💀
Glorified golf carts.
It’s fun until the charging finishes😂😂
Bad azz awesome video. They would probably ask a different agency to perform a pit maneuver lol
Bring back the vics
Well at least now the cars are fast and can actually catch up
Problem now is Officers taking risk with high speed pursuits. There need to be clearer guidelines enforced when to call off risky chases. Soo many cars now are now more powerful than most drivers can handle. Dual Motor Teslas being a prime example.
Ze/ Zir?
The trunk opens automatically to help with breaking in high speeds. Can't believe people do not know this about tesla.
Elon musk: we love are police officers too thank you for your service
All that running would make you think it’s a pursuit or a serious back up. But I saw its south Pasadena. It’s most likely a traffic stop
performance models? or long range?
They use the long range version with performance boost.
Eco-fascism at its finest
They mostly use Ford Explorers (FPIUs) all the time. It is staffed with either one police officer or two police officers.
Not this PD they replaced their old Dodge Charger. Model Y is the direct competitor Ford Explorer Interceptor. They literally try to price it as close as possible.
Good luck doing a car pursuit with ur sorry 300 mile range Tesla
They got a block away from the station then had to stop to lift the cars up and replace the 6 double A batteries underneath. 😂😂😂😂😂
Tesla Police Cars Before GTA6😂
Instead of fighting homelessness, hiring more cops for their crime rate, and fixing the shitty roads, this is what they spending money on. We knew Pasadena was a clown place.
That's right. If they do their jobs and keep people safe and put bad guy away MAYBE then reward yourself.
But Pasa and all of Cali is a dumpster fire. And these flippin cops go for the easy target. Like minor traffic violations.
Now they got Tesla's? You people don't deserve it. Ridiculous. Cali is corrupt and the residents are clueless and now let's buy Tesla's!
Stay classy California.
WTF Soo spend more money on Ford Explorer Interceptor? You do realize the alternatives are MORE Expensive.
@@Neojhun No, they don't, clown

Those Teslas are not durable for civilians yet alone LAW ENFORCEMENT. Poor call!
Not durable how? I’ve owned 2 model 3s both driven to about 150k miles zero issues with either
@ I meant like jumping curbs and pit maneuvering chases and doing 120 mph for 2-3 minutes straight and getting shot at and burning out and everything else. I’m certain you haven’t done any of those things with your personal Tesla.
Now people can just outrun the cops by driving far enough. You'll only have to drive 150 miles in the winter and that thing will be dead from a full charge lmao
False most evs have heat pumps like teslas so there range dose not get affected that much also its the same with ice cars cold also affects them well if they even start in the first place 😂
@@mcsike7264 My friend quite literally returned his Tesla this winter because he was getting atrocious range. I do live in a pretty cold area though.
@@racingbeats1493 most teslas have a heat pump so cold don't affect them they could of returned it for something else
@@mcsike7264 we had a conversation about it which is why I mentioned it lol. It was the range. If you look it up you get many people in cold places with the same complaints
@@racingbeats1493 oh well you do still lose range even with a heat pump not as bad as a ev without one
Interesting fleet. Are those lined up also unmarked Teslas too? Pretty sweet, those cars must be pretty sneaky.
this police department has way to much money
if they did, they would've bought other cars that cost way more. Check the recent video by Munro Live where they visit the company that upfitted the cars into Police vehicles, where one of the sergeants of this department explains why they picked these cars.
Unfortunately the officer hit the trunk release because these Vehicles were NOT made for Law Enforcement.
Unlike Ford who makes Law Enforcement and First Responder Vehicles designs specifically at the factory. Perfect example is the F-150 and the New 2025 Law Enforcement Expedition that makes a whopping 480 torque

Doesn’t matter. If you try to run, a dual motor Tesla would catch up to you in a few seconds, and knowing their handling and their tonnage, you are not going to have a good day getting pit maneuvered by one bozo
@Anonymous-is6xu I can’t believe some people these days don’t stop. You’ll regret it when you can outrun them.
The car don’t chase the bad guy for you ??
Are they in violation of the California law that requires a steady burning red light facing forward?
Those will make some nice fireworks after a few pursuits.... derp
As for a police department in the mid west who are fielding teslas
bargersville Indiana police have several
The guy dropped his card he was so excited to drive
The comments about the “battery dying mid response” are ignorant and incorrect. The same argument can be said for gas powered cars running out of gas. I’m no electric car enthusiast or supporter and I am not for the Tesla’s, but at least use a real argument 😂
Ford Police Interceptor Utility gas powered: 400 mile range fully fueled
Tesla Police Car electric powered: 270 mile range fully charged
I wonder which car will die in a high speed pursuit that begins near the end of an 8- or 12-hour shift?
Turns out the comments are spot-on and you are ignorant and incorrect.
In a pursuit they’d be lucky to get 70 miles out of the battery. And imagine if that pursuit begins 3/4 of the shift in.
@@angelam6902 They have a small patrol area, for starters, so other agencies in the area will easily be able to help with a high-speed pursuit. Secondly, that sort of thing isn't so common. So neither of these reasons would make these useless.
Well you’re an ignorant fool
@@armannstraughter3296 That's the only reason it might work - it's South Pasadena, if a pursuit starts they will call LAPD or CHP to take over with real cars while they push their cars back to the station for recharging.
