Just saw Cedric last night in Little Rock opening for JJ Grey. All I can say is praise the blues gods for Cedric Burnside for keeping the North Mississippi Hill Country blues (and blues in general) alive and well!
I saw Cedric Burnside at Bluesfest in Ottawa some years ago where he was drumming. He was beating the drums like they owed him money. It was an awesome, electric performance that you couldn't help moving to.
Seen RL twice back in the late 90's in Louisville with Cedric drumming, he was about 17-18 years old, and fucking killed it! Been listening to him ever since.
Ahhh. Cedric has that unmistakable vocal inflection. And if this makes it over to him I agree, thank you Jesus Christ.” Thank you Cedric, thank you who posted this.
Cedric is keeping the Hill Country Blues tradition alive, honoring the legacy of RL Burnside, his grand father and in this process he is putting his own signature !
Wow! Didn’t know Cedric played the guitar, so glad he’s doing well. Love that hill country blues! Been a fan of RL for a while. Congrats on your being nominated for a grammy. Thanks for posting!
I'm here from hearing Rebecca Lovell of Larkin Poe saying she would like to collaborate and write a song with Cedric. YES that would be a nice blend. His sound is brilliant.
can anyone help. What is the specific guitar Cedric is playing here? It looks like an Ibanez Artcore AS53, but it has extra tone & volume controls? Is it a mod? Does anyone know?
It's definitely an Ibanez Artcore. I have two of them for a guitar/drum duo that I'm doing....nothing close to Cedric but most fun I ever had man. That cat could play any guitar and any amp and sound killer. Those Vox and Supro amps don't hurt. Id like to do a gospel laid back thing like him.
Great performance but the interviewer did not meaningfully do research on Cedric. He didn’t know that Cedric drummed on the album or his genre of music-“what’s ‘’Mississippi hill country blues?” Lol.
Music the way its meant to be, pure and soulful, from the heart, this stuff has power, it brought me back from the dead literally, its a healer.
Awesome! John Lee Hooker has a fantastic album called "The Healer."

Blues is becoming a lost art and it’s great to hear a talented blues man honing his craft. Love raw Delta and Hill Country blues.
Such a sweet guy .. had the chance to hang out with him here in Glasgow and he was a total gentleman!
What a cool dude, and humble too. So glad this kind of old school bluesman is still around.

What a sound. That drummer is kick ass! What a heritage! The grandson of R.L. Burnside.
As he gets older you can hear more of R.L. coming through, love it!
Cedric is amazing and the drummer too, but let's not forget the props for the audio engineer that mixed that sweet sweet drum sound!
Somebody knows what they're doin..
When your dad is Calvin Jackson you pick up drums early I bet.
He is playing so light and efficient I honestly had to take a second look to make sure it wasn't a drum track.
Right on! That drum kit sounds amazing!
Mississippi, to the rescue again...
Thank you Mississippi, again, for making this world a better place.

Sounds great just like his Grandad, R.L.
Yes C! The hill country blues is alive and well
Blues at its best. That drummer IS the pocket.
Simply wonderful. Thank you both.
To me Cedric is the new Face of the Blues

Ooh boy - that groove at 1.30! I'm in...
interesting picking style. if he wasn't R.L's grandson I would ask where he learned to play like that.
The Prodigal Grandson... ♥️
Big daddy RL is smiling from above ;)
Awesome
Right down to the nitty gritty.
Is this a son or grandson of the legendary Burnside?
❤❤❤❤❤
Hey is this performance from the same famous Manhattan Center where they broadcast WWF Monday Night Raw in the 1990s?
Any relation to R.L. Burnside?
Regardless, this is terrific.
Would love to see Cedric and Jeff Beck play together.

He has that same African sound / style of picking his grandad had.
Glad someone else noticed that picking technique.. so rare and almost impossible to learn haha (at least for me anyway haha)
its not african its when nobody teaches you but you stick with it one day you wake up and you know what to do
friso amb la seva música
Anybody knows what guitar he's playing?
Ibanez AS73 I believe. I have an AS103 which is similar.
@@erwinroman4217 Thanks a bunch!
R.L. 's kin?
sounds just like his grandfather

If you got what RL had….
I am in…
He has….
👍
Stealing all his daddy's stuff and calling it his own.
Respecting and honouring his father's music enough to carry the torch like only an extremely devoted son would do.
He is like his father very good 😎🙏❤️
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
