I loved it, it was my first time seeing it performed. But I was already obsessed with the soundtrack and its animatics. I love your review, one of the things that annoyed me sometimes when watching reactions and reviews by those who are watching hamilton blind is that sometimes they overanalyze the songs that they are hearing. Its really best to just let your emotions guide you for your first viewing of Hamilton (since you can just watch it again for the nitty gritty parts that you've missed).

I'm not at all a fan of musicals, but I've always wanted to watch Hamilton. And while it took me three days to get through the whole thing, by the end I was bawling, so I can wholeheartedly say that this was a beautiful, emotional experience.

Agreed. I’m a music doctorate in conducting & have always phoned my brother to say “PLEASE go with our parents to see that (insert any musical) damn musical. I’ll PAY you!” But I loved it. I let the music take me as Chris said. Then later, analysed the music.

Great review Chris. I was fortunate the see the stage production off Broadway and loved the play. The blocking and stage management are just exceptional. Being able to see the play with the original cast was just amazing. Very glad to hear you enjoyed it. I have watched it three times already and listen the cast recording often. Cheers

Wife and I woke up at. 3:30 am to watch it at 4 am on Friday. We had BIG cups of coffee ☕️ and we LOVED it too. 4.5 Stars ⭐️. We watched it again on Saturday. Also I finished Ron Chernow’s Alexander Hamilton book (which the play was based on). Amazing too. Thanks for your review.

First Act is so expositional and confusing as some actors play more than one role, however the ending is brilliant, I am glad you enjoyed it Chris !

I completely agree that it was a demanding 1st Act! So glad I stuck with it though :)

Watched for the first time yesterday and it truly is incredible. I’m not always a fan of musicals esp when they sing every line but I loved that this musical had rap/jazz/hip hop elements rather than just the normal broadway music.

Such great production value. (This video. Well, Hamilton too...but that was more expected). Love the lit black screen.

My one criticism (actually criticism is too harsh a word) but I do feel that elements of the show were too airbrushed. And I love that the cast is diverse and reclaiming history but issues like slavery did happen and it feels a bit hmm I guess inauthentic that it was glossed over. That being said, this isn’t a documentary and I can appreciate this musical marvel! It does live up to the hype and yeah everyone should watch it.
