So here’s the deal. Bought one today at Pegasus in La Verne (they just stocked the 4 they received) Unboxed it and happy to see upgrade parts in the box. Steel portal gears and upgraded drive shafts. The stock drive shafts failed immediately. Replaced them with the provided parts. Nice. 13yo loves it. Two speeds awesome. Head lights he liked. Swapping out the provided portal steel gears later today. We have a ton of RC cars. We went in to buy a Axiel but went off the norm and like it.
Yeah mine didn’t get two packs through it and stripped the gear. If they’ll actually release the upgrades they say they are gonna have it’ll be killer! They have a tendency to not follow through on these things though.
4:42 I guess "Caurion Hot" is "Caution" with an accent? LOL! Nice little machine! Thanks! Definitely looks like they took alot of notes from how people mod'd the current 24's. Especially loading it up front.
great looking rig and seems to perform well out of the box. The size of the cab almost looks like a 1/18 scale. This might make a great companion for my LC80 from FMS. Thanks again ✌️
Thanks for the presentation. This car has awesome features. And it's great FMS managed to put everything in the front of the car. I think FMS wants to be part of the 1/24 hype. For me (and I may be wrong) it's more a 1/18 car like their others. So I can live with the chassis and wheels, but I would rather put on a 24 scale body. So it can match up better with my other 24s.
Looking good! portals and two speed in this scale?! Amazing! The only thing with FMS is there is not much hop up options. But I really like how FMS is raising the bar with the 24 scale. I might need to cancel my order for an SCX24 Bronco LOL!
It looks great on paper but are already starting to break, the electronics look better then the scx and the two speed is nice to have The best thing about this truck is that it will make axial run for its money, maybe now they will stop just getting new bodies on the same old chassis
Just had my first run with my yellow FCX24 at Robin Hood's Stride and Cratcliffe Rocks in Derbshire (flowing grit stone). Very impressed. Great modulation and plenty of punch. 1st gear is a proper crawling ratio and 2nd gear is wheely inducing at FOT. I have Treals and Scramblers on it. Needs more front and low weight (then again I was running it after an amazing modded Bully2), so I am hoping the metal upgrades do actually happen as promised by FMS. This thing is surely going to have it's own aftermarket like the SCX24. Give me brass FMS...
I ordered one and is supposed to show up tomorrow. I hope it is durable over the long run. I know the plastic portal gears are going to be problematic so hopefully FMS comes out with metal upgrades quickly.
Me too think going order one , long as gears available only going be couple Dollars, hopefully axial comes with 2 speed . I gave mine to my neighbor with little boys since they love the rcs I meant to lend it but should've known better lol needless I need new Lil crawler
@@paulclancy2404 agreed. The plastic portals will be under a lot of stress for sure. Making them steel would add low weight too. :) The chances of Axial making a 1/24 2-speed is less than zero. :) Just my guess.
I got the yellow one coming. Thanks for the video. I'm definitely more excited about it now, I didn't even know it had portal axels when I bought it. I only have one 1/24 scale crawler, the axial scx24 deadbolt and I've got a bunch of upgrades but I'm never happy with the suspension or articulation. No matter what shocks I have bought I've been mostly disappointed. It's fun but I wanted to try something different. Looks like I made a good choice. I almost picked up the Team Associated Enduro 24 because it was cheaper but I didn't like the fact it came with a 1cell battery. Thanks for making all the videos. You've helped me save a bunch of money with your honest reviews. 👌😎
Just bought a CR-24 but this looks so cool I now have one on order as well. Hoping to own my brother who just bought the axial scx24. Great looking and great features in this little car can't wait.
YES! I’ve been waiting for FMS to make a performance oriented rig and now we’ve got one! If it’s half as good as the scale stuff it’ll be fantastic! I’m absolutely shocked they were able to fit a 2 speed in a 24th scale! man FMS you gotta send me one of these 😂😂😂
Nice option, would like to see metal portal gears, but only because I want to do the monster truck like the fuertec monster truck. I don't care what body comes on it, I'd put a 1/25 scale model truck body on it as soon as I get one. Still think I will wait and see how they do durability wise before I bite
Agree with most here, with the exception of the body clips. While the "IDEA" is great, and similar to the latest from Traxxas, in practice, the body attachment system is a PITA, IMO. Four clips, two front and rear, operated in opposite directions, and hard to get too and get leverage on. It's doable, but far from perfect. I much prefer the magnet mount and hinged rear I have on my SCX. And honestly, I'd prefer traditional body clips to the system on my FCX.
Impressive little guy. Im sold. I had to completely upgrade my SCX24 to get it to perform like this and it would still gets destroyed. I am sure a few mods would really make this thing a cheater rig.
@@braelighty6212 I was just thinking the same thing, people keep saying out the box a fcx24 is better than a modded scx24 I’m thinking people just don’t know how to properly build a rig
Very nice review. I'm curious if the Furitek SCX24 Liko Pro Plus outrunner Brushless Combo will fit it? Because that's the ultimate set-up for a small crawler...those tiny brushed motors just don't make any torque.
Axial XC-1 same price and has front and back steering but the motor for sure is not as big but the steering is switchable and is amazing. I am going to have to pick one of these up after seeing this video. I was debating before but yeah I probably will now.
It certainly looks promising with those two additional features, but at that price, I wonder about its durability. The SCX24 looks expensive in comparison but it does come with metal diffs, ball bearings and high tolerance and quality. Hopefully this will put pressure on other companies to innovate instead of giving us more of the same. On another note, this is not the first 1/24 scale to have a two gear transmission. The X Row Kuro King not only has this feature, but also remote front and rear diff lock. It's pretty much a micro version of TRX4 or RGT Defender.
NO, Let's do get ahead of our self. Much better. I have never needed info several times in a row, because this is youtube, so I can watch it again iof there was something I did not hear or see.
I love this truck but it’s definitely not the best 1/24 at the moment. Out of the box it’s awesome besides the gears. If they had just went metal it could be the best for sure. I didn’t get two packs through mine and the plastic portal gears stripped. It has all the key features to be king but if they don’t get some metal gears out for it then it’s gonna be a complete failure. @@RCReviewChannel well this would be if it was more durable or had parts available. I still have to say the scx24 just because it has replacement parts atm. They offered to send me another truck for “positive review” but no info on the gear I need to get back up and running. All of this is well and good, except for one important point: parts availability in North America. If anything breaks on my SCX24, there are 4 hobby shops within 25mins drive of me that stock all HorizonHobby and Traxxas parts. No need to order from China and wait 4 weeks.
I’m skeptical when I see a lot more features for not much more money. Does it need portals and a 2 speed transmission? Will they hold up or just increase the likelihood of failure? It looks cool and scale. The body looks tall and a little heavy and I’m not sure about the wheels/tires for crawling. It does create competition, which should push Axial and Element to respond with tweaks to their 1/24 lines.
I'm pretty sure they will break if forced in a bound-up situation. Or bashing. The motor and 2-speed is just so strong for plastic. Upgrade time hopefully.
