  • In this videos fabien Inspects his cam chain on a suzuki van van RV 125. This job is very easy on a suzuki van van 125 and does not need to be done to often.
But as suzuki van van s are so eay to maintain - its worth doing .

Thanks for the video. My van van is making a lot of ticking noise, I wrongly assumed it was valve adjustment - now I have something else I can check. =)

No problem happy to help. I originally thought it was the valve clearance too. But just like you it wasn’t that. Good luck let me know how it goes! 😊

@@FabMotorbikes I've taken the beast to a couple local guys, they took it for a spin and they have both said the same thing "just showing it's age mate", "loosening up".
As long as the clearances are in spec I'll just live with the noise.
I just think it was that the motor was so quiet for the first 10k any sort of noise makes me worry. =)

Glad to hear it’s nothing major. It sounds like we had the exact same problem that was not much of a problem 👍

Your right would have been useful 😂 I sold the bike before fixing it. I think the cam chain needed replacing. Other than the ticking though, ran like a dream. thanks for watching.

No sorry i ended up selling the bike to a friend. I told him it needed done but he hasn’t done it in the six months he has had it. I do still think it needs doing, however the bike runs completely fine

There is some specific noise which should tell you "check tensioner"?
    (sry for my english)

Hi @maciej thanks for commenting. Checking the tensioner should be something you do as part of your service - even if there is no noise. But if you hear a metalling ticking, or slapping noise, it could be a lose cam chain. And in some cases it is because the tensioner is not working properly

Asking around the MC websites about removing and checking my 96 Suzuki Bandit cam chain tensioner. Someone mentioned to make sure the timing mark is in the correct position before removal. No mention in my Clymer manual about timing marks. Do you know anything about the timing mark?

I’m afraid not. However they differ from bike to bike. In my experience timing marks are usually something that need careful attention when replacing or removing the cam chain itself - not checking or removing the tensioner.

Haynes mentions the timing marks, meaning to make sure the piston is in TDC before doing anything with the tensioner.
