  • Thank you for 24:19 of your time. Today, we assemble this Armadillo 5-shelf storage rack and give you my thoughts. I believe this is the successor to Sam's Member's Mark branded storage rack and I'm liking it better, so far. This is so new, that there is no actual "Armadillo" branded 5 shelf storage racks - only the Member's Mark. Otherwise, I'd give you all a link. I believe you'll need to go in-store for this one.... until further notice.

      Found it here in our store in fountain valley, ca. did you add the metal plate to brace it?

    • @EverythingInBetween22
      @EverythingInBetween22  Год назад +1

      @@noelnazareno9967 This one (Armadillo brand) doesn't need any metal plate. Each brace and rail fitting, fits snug and also holds the top and bottom pieces together very nice. I have since purchased two more of these, so now I have three total. I love em! I was talking about using the metal plates on the Member's Mark branded ones. You can see that video around 16 videos ago (~11 months ago). Thanks for watching and I hope you love yours!

      Hello,
      Great video, my box says Member's Mark, not Armadillo, however everything is the same to the parts and color. I am happy with it, but those 4 Plastic pieces that join the post together, are a little scary to me.

    • @EverythingInBetween22
      @EverythingInBetween22  4 месяца назад

      @@MsBLACKSCREEN Thanks, glad ya liked it. Yea, they are just enough to keep the pieces together but once it starts coming together, it all holds pretty good.

    Thanks assembling and identifying the pieces. I bought the same shelving storage rack at a discount store for $35 without checking inside the box. Half the pieces were missing. The store sells retuned and overstock items from multiple pallets they buy. I can still make use of what I have. But lesson learned.

    • @EverythingInBetween22
      @EverythingInBetween22  6 месяцев назад

      Yea, we have a similar discount store that does exactly what you described. I went in once and didn't feel at all comfortable about buying anything from there, especially when it's All Sales Final. No Exceptions. lol Hopefully you were able to get at least 3 shelves out of it.

    Good video. I read reviews of everyone complaining about the couplers but no one mentioned that you just use the braces themselves to then join each half. Not ideal, but certainly not the safety hazard people made it sound like. Tough to beat for the price and if you’re looking to buy a bunch.

      Thanks. Yea, it's sketchy at first, but once you start getting the braces snapped in, it feels a lot better.

    Thank you so much for posting this! I started trying to put mine together last night and it was not going well. Then I watched your video this morning. Lifesaver! Just watching you was helpful, but your first step of starting one hole up, made all the difference for me.

    Just picked one of these up at Sam's. First time they've been in stock in a while. On the old ones you were supposed to put the middle shelf between the two connections as well. You can fix your old member's mark ones that way so you don't have to drill into them.
    Good demo video. Thank you.

    • @EverythingInBetween22
      @EverythingInBetween22  Год назад

      I can, but it still won't work because on the old ones, the shelves don't "snap/fit" snug into the slotted holes like the newer Armadillo one... at least on mine, but thanks for the insight. It may help others out there.

    I just bought 2 of these at my local Sam's Club. First thing I did was search for it here and your video came up. Thank you for the tutorial it helps a lot. I wonder if you can buy individual extra shelves for this? I'm going to use it as a display shelf for my models I've built.

    • @EverythingInBetween22
      @EverythingInBetween22  Год назад

      You're the second person that said they wanna use it to display their models. This rack must be popular for that. :) I would contact Sam's corporate or any contact info on the box, if any, and ask. I doubt you can just purchase individual pieces (I've looked everywhere), but ya never know. You'd have to ask them directly.

      @Everything In Between Man I had a really tough time joining the upper post with the bottom post and then trying to put the fixed middle shelf braces in. I may have said more than a few choice words lol

    • @Sdreed0733
      @Sdreed0733 Год назад +1

      @Everything In Between I can probably call Armadillo Tough and see if they can sell me a couple individual shelves. If not I can always buy another shelf and scavenge shelves from it. Probably cost about the same as it would if ordering indidual shelves is possible

    • @EverythingInBetween22

      @@Sdreed0733 Yea, looks like it needs a really level surface or something, so the top posts don't tip over before attaching a rail to them. Thankfully, it really wasn't that bad for me. Hopefully you were able to complete the assembly without breaking or punching anything around you. LOL

    Are the shelves adjustable? I’m looking to use them for anime figures that are about 2ft tall and 25 pounds each.

    • @EverythingInBetween22
      @EverythingInBetween22  Год назад

      Oh yea, of course. At that height, you'll only be able to use 3 total shelves (including the base/bottom shelf).

    • @inboudayo
      @inboudayo 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@EverythingInBetween22 The middle shelf is NOT adjustable due to how it assembles with those plastic couplers... I like everything else about the shelf but that design decision was an extremely poor one. The longer couplers from your other video would be great if they were sold separately but I can't find anything like them anywhere.

    • @EverythingInBetween22
      @EverythingInBetween22  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@inboudayo I totally agree. Other than the middle shelf not being adjustable, it holds together extremely well during assembly. Why can't they give us the perfect storage rack? lol :)

    Are the shelves solid plastic or laminated wood?

    • @EverythingInBetween22
      @EverythingInBetween22  Год назад

      Solid laminated plastic shelves. They hold 800lbs per shelf. 4,000lbs combined. I don't think I'd ever be able to put 800lbs on one shelf. The max I believe I have on one shelf is around 200lbs and that's a lot already. They are holding up great.

    How many inches are the bottom four shelves?

    • @EverythingInBetween22
      @EverythingInBetween22  4 месяца назад +1

      Are you talking about the space between each one? The usable space between the bottom four shelves are approximately:
      15-5/8" - 12-5/8" - 15-5/8" - 12-5/8" (going from the bottom, up)
      But that's how I set it up. If you need more space, you don't have to use all 5 shelves. You can use 4 shelves and have more space between each one.

      Prices have gone up drastically since purchasing this. Crazy! As of today, they are around $95 compared to the $70 (and then $85) when I purchased the first few of these. Jeez! 🤯

      @@EverythingInBetween22 Thanks for the response! Yes, everything goes up within just the last 3 weeks alone! I was going to buy a steel storage shelving unit from Amazon and it was $99 including free shipping, but when I went back to buy it you now have to pay $45 shipping cost! It has only been two weeks since I first checked out that shelf and that's how much it has gone up! Anyway, how much does that unit weigh? Can each of the shelves hold up to 150 pounds without bowing or collapsing? Those shelves are made of hard, solid plastic and not wood, right? Thanks bro for the upload and Go Stros!

    • @EverythingInBetween22
      @EverythingInBetween22  Год назад

      @@grandwonder5858 I hear ya! The unit itself, weighs approximately 80lbs. Pretty hefty. The shelves are rated to hold 800lbs each, but I don't have close to that. I believe the most I have on one shelf is around 200lbs and there is no bowing. I've seen a couple instances describing the shelves mfg'ing contents... One saying that the shelves are made of solid laminated plastic and another saying particle board with a melamine finish. My shelves are 1/4" thick which leads me to believe mine are solid laminated plastic... If it's particle board, even if laminated with melamine, I would think they gotta be at least 1/2" to 3/4" thick. They cost too much for me to break one of the shelves in half to see what it's really made of LOL. Maybe one day, if I get mad enough, I'll take a hammer to one of the shelves lol but until then, Go Stros!
