Rode it for the first time in 2001. Place is like something out of a Mad Max movie. Complete with rock crawlers and 4 wheelers. Trails are hella steep and rocky. Except for the new groomed stuff. Def a must if you are in the area. Video does not do it justice. I have not been there in about 4 years but this vid makes me want to plan a trip soon (4 hrs away).
Oh yes huge kickers while snowboarding too. Jump a 8 meter kicker beeing scared for your life and it looks like you are going over a baby jump frikkin hate it
Best thing I can compare this place to is a young Highland Bike Park - it's a Mountain built for Mountain bikers, and that's not easy to come by. For anyone looking to up their game or just have an absolute blast with others in the sport, Windrock Bike Park is a must visit.
The Singletrack Sampler Highland is my home bike park. If the atmosphere/vibe is anything like Highland I'll definitely have to make a road trip down to Windrock!
The Singletrack Sampler Nice dude! You and Seth have definitely inspired me to explore beyond my home of New England and hit up some of the awesome riding down in NC, WV, TN, KY, and AR! Highland is trying out not closing for the winter this year. No lift service as of yet, but Saturdays and Sundays you can pedal up their easiest green trail (freedom trail) and ride down any other trail. Probably not as fun as Windrock in the winter as it's New Hampshire vs Tennessee, but still awesome to see them trying something new. I bet some of the flow trails like Cats Paw would be awesome on a fat bike if there was snow and it was groomed!
I ride trails on a bmx(tho it has 1 half OK brake) and it's fun as f lol. I rode down a technical downhill that is about as steep as horse face looks, (tho it's a lot smaller) and so did my freind who is on a brake less bmx, and it is so much fun
Dang. That was steep. This place has the same feel as Coast Gravity Park -- laid back and built for riding, not for buying luxury purses and fleece sweaters :)
Time to sit up front and get those marks up. And that's what I did after escaping fourth grade with straight Ds. But that was from an elementary school in Speedway, Indiana and we were just there for a few months while my Dad worked with a local team that ran the 500. And those teachers hated racers' kids.
Great to hear and for sure, better to be up front when you have to be there anyway, at least that's what I figured after fourth grade and I actually enjoyed attending classes after that, not that I was the perfect student, just better and more careful about the whole racing deal.
That's how I end every ride with my mates. " No I'm still not getting a downhill bike!" Good on ya Seth!! Here in Australia we never have to worry about the cold, only if it's too hot to ride!
I live in this area, so I know how insanely steep these ridges can be. Watching this even after riding Haw Ridge this morning made me pucker. That's insane dude!
I have to say Thank You, I love watching both your and Alexander’s videos; they can make a bad day a hell of a lot better. I ship out the Paris Island in two weeks, and I know that I am going to miss this. So again, Thank You.
Yo Seth, you don’t need a fat bike to bike in the snow! You just slide like crazy and crash a lot, but it doesn’t hurt because of the snow. We got like 6 inches of snow the other day, and I rode for hours on an average budget hardtail with 2.1 inch wide tires. That park looks so dope though
So awesome to see! I've been riding Windrock since the early 2000s, this place is no joke! I just love how these trails lull you into a sense of safety on some of the bench cuts, and then throw you into udder terror. One of the most epic rides I've ever had was on the top to bottom windmill trail. There was a storm cloud parked on to of the mountain, so the first quarter of the ride was in a foggy downpour, then as we got closer to the bottom,, conditions just kept getting nicer and sunnier. Perfect end to a long weekend of DHing.
I want to go to Winrock and ride Windmill and Smashmouth, not because it is may have the steepest runs, but because it looks like so much fun. Your laughter is the best indication that this is a must do. Thanks for sharing.
Early 1990’s we used to ride Daniel Boone Forest in Eastern Kentucky. Terrain and vibe just like this place. So dope. Living in California for the past 20 years I miss those trails and low key vibes.
Charlie Cartolano thanks for the lead. i just checked it out and it looks like good stuff. i really appreciate you telling me about it all. i definitely gotta see the natural bridge
Seth, you should pick up a Sony powershot or Canon G7x to bring with you to these parks. That way you could stop halfway down the trail and shoot a quick little clip of what it looks like without the GoPro affect.
Jaime Ricafrente a Canon G7x is smaller than a IPhone. As a automotive cinematographer myself I carry a Sony hx80 with me every single day in my left pocket and my phone in my right. I'm pretty sure Seth's bag has a spot big enough for a IPhone.
it is now on my list of places to ride in 2018. this reminds me of a video I saw back in the 90s where the guys took their belts off and wrapped around the rear wheel to keep the brakes on all the time.
"This is as bad as it gets right here." "...WHAT the FUCK?!" *later at the bottom of the trail* "I did it!" "Yeah you did!" That's what it's all about folks. I love the relationship Seth has with Alex.
But if you go to the Poconos in Pennsylvania is some pretty scary to Terrain.here as well. But I definitely wouldn't do what you did without some serious soul-searching.. and Kudos Alex to you ..
Glad to see that Diamondback holding up to that kind of riding. Have a garage full of D backs! As a result of this video, Seth, my sons and I are adding this park to our list. We live in WA so we have Stevens, Duthie, and Tiger Mountain but this looks like so much fun. Thanks for sharing!

This is the first DH park I have ever been to and it was right after a flood. I’m happy the ground was so soft and the trails were so fun. Defonutly coming back
Also, after watching the rest of the video, I wanna say that the camera does Windrock almost NO justice at all. It is so so so steep, but that is what makes it so fun. @Eric Lovett This hits different now
As a big GoPro user, I can completely relate to how annoying it is after hitting a steep run and it looking flat. So frustrating!
Agreed!
Yep- Can't think of all the footage I've thrown away
if you have final cut pro you can use alex 4d correction. it makes everything steep as hell and takes away the fisheye
Most video editing software have ways to correct the fisheye effect.
Oh yes huge kickers while snowboarding too. Jump a 8 meter kicker beeing scared for your life and it looks like you are going over a baby jump frikkin hate it
I’m actually at windrock for a couple weeks and he’s completely true, everything. Is super steap, and horse face is literally straight down
