HNLMS Friesland may have it's limitations, but at least it will have stroopwafels, zoute drop and kroketten in the kitchen. That makes it better than any other warship

DJAvren That’s fair. The British have a similar rule. They maintain that since all British tanks have the capability for the crews to make a cup of tea, their tanks are inherently superior.

@@IceTeaF00t that'd be funny, yes, but unlikely. Jingles mentioned it a while back (I think in an episode of "Mingles") that he'd sent the recordings to WG and he'd cheekily mixed up the files ("cruiser spotted" instead of battleship etc.). WG apparently didn't get the joke, thought it was a genuine mistake and rearranged everything into the proper, boring, order.
@@saltefan5925 My call would've been to leave Fubuki where it is, put Ayanami at Tier 7, and Akatsuki at Tier 8. Akatsuki would basically be the old Tier 8 versio of Fubuki, except with more speed.

My personal opinion/assessment of this ship in case anyone is wondering:
1. Its guns are great and they do melt enemy ships but they need time so if your opponents charge you, you're in trouble as you could have seen in this video - also the best way to get this thing killed is to just charge it (be careful if you're a DD, it will kill you fast because of guns+hydro).
2. It's AA is great so CVs will bleed if they want you dead
3. With 6.4 as your best concealment, it's really not a DD hunter which I was hoping this ship would be. Now, it does kill DDs fast but it can't really spot them that easy and you don't exactly have a lot of HP so it's more of a support role.
4. Not having torps can be a HUGE downside and it takes a whole new mindset on how to play a DD so be prepared
5. The captain skills I used: PM, PT, LS, AR, SE, SI, BFT, CE (didn't go for IFHE in this build)
6. Is it worth 1M free exp? That entirely depends on YOU and your time and economy in the game. If 1M free exp is nothing to you, then sure, why not. But if 1M free exp is not something you drop lightly then think twice about it. This DD is rather unique, while being very powerful in proper situations it can be extremely limiting, especially if you play it solo. And at the end of the day it all comes down to spamming LMB like crazy and there's just so much fun you can have doing only that match after match.
If you're into spamming your guns, might as well go for Kitakaze which has more guns, it actually has torps (a lot of them and VERY deadly) AND has a better concealment. Friesland does have strong AA and that hydro so it's your choice,

The question is if you should bother with IFHE or go for fire instead, to burn down the enemy ships as the Friesland has a fairly good base chance of fire.

Jingles, as much as I am very happy to see you feature a Dutch ship, it is in fact not the first Dutch ship in the game, although it is the first one to be designated as such.
The Gadjah Mada for instance is a Dutch ship in service of the KNIL with it's actual name being "Tjerk Hiddes". Also, more famously and something Wargaming *did* say, but everyone forgot, everyone's favourite OP tier 6 premium destroyer the T-61 was a Dutch built ship that was almost finished as part of a class of 12 destroyers commisioned for the Dutch navy at the dockyards of Wilton Fijenoord in Schiedam, Rotterdam Droogdook Mij and De Schelde, Vlissingen. T-61 itself was ordered by the Germans to be completed and was launched in the middle of 1944.

I just visited the HMS Belfast this weekend. Excellent tour by the way.
Great thing is you can climb into engine room and admire size of the machinery there.
I had just visited the USS Hornet 3 weeks ago however that was with kids and this was solo. I think the HMS Belfast is slightly better by yourself as much of what makes the Hornet great is the Docent lead tours. The turbines on the USS Hornet were much bigger but that’s what 37500shp vs. 20000shp per turbine will get you. Either I didn’t see all of it or the slightly newer and higher pressure US machinery had smaller boilers.
However, this all pales in comparison to the shear size of USS Texas’ VTE engines despite their archaic nature.

In the early 50s, after the death of the Cruiser-Destroyer project and the associated 5"/70 60rpm (later 5"/62 and 35rpm) MCDP (Medium Calibre Dual-Purpose) gun project, British started looking at the Bofors 120mm on Friesland as an alternative. They drew up a number of design studies with mounting, including one with 3 such mountings and 12 fixed torpedo tubes (6 per side).
That rate of fire is incredible. Damn near a semi-auto destroyer...lol.

You made a very valid point about losing a turret, lose 50% of your guns. Also, consider this: If you poke your nose around a corner, you can only shoot 1 turret at the enemy. If you sit far enough back from an island to shoot both turrets over it, so can they at you.
This ship will steal your spice trade and sell you stroopwafels and kroketten every time she can!

Napalmratte - just show a Friesland something approaching a broadside. After he gets 2-3 perma-fires on you and switches to AP into your superstructure, bow, etc. you may sing a different tune.

HNLMS? im pretty sure her abreviation was Hr.Ms. Friesland, meaning Her Majesty's ship Friesland or Harer Majesteits Friesland. HNLMS was the term used internationally for the Royal Netherlands Navy, but not for this particular ship if i recall corrrectly. But plz correct me if im wrong...
In Dutch terms yes. The Hr.Ms. (Harer Majesteits). But in English and in international terms it should be HNLMS (His/Her Netherlands Majesty's Ship.)
So Jingles got it right because his audience is international
It's to tell Dutch Royal Navy ships from that of other countries with monarchies and Royal Navies like Britain.
Never use that IFHE skill, you need the fire-starter advantage. I tried IFHE and had to spend coins to re-arrange skills. Instead Demolition Expert is 3 points well spend

When you said he was going to face a lot of trouble fighting the two battleships and a radar cruiser, I looked up and saw the numbers 983 in red. Then I realised, he wasn't going to face any trouble at all with those ships.

I wish they called it Hr. Ms. Friesland though and because we had a Queen it be Hr. Ms. Friesland and not Zr. Ms. Friesland what the current Friesland ship goes by because of us now having a King. I dont know why they dont put the name accurately though because I never seen a dutch naval vessel past and current years called HNLMS maybe the english call it that but still cool they added a dutch naval vessel although its from the 50s haha.
Edit: Now I hope they will add it to World of Warships Legends as well so I can play it with my mate we are both Dutch and what better to play the game with then Dutch vessels haha.
HNLMS (His/Her Netherlands Majesty's Ship) is indeed the English/international abbreviation used for Dutch warships. Just like the English "HMS", it is unisex, unlike the Dutch abbreviations. You also have similar abbreviations in English for the navies of other monarchies. HSwMS for Sweden, HNoMS for Norway, HDMS for Denmark, and so on.
HNLMS and HNoMS are used not to cause confusion, because the Netherlands and Norway can’t both be HNMS haha

I am in fact dutch, and the title lead me to come check the video out. Friesland is a province in the netherlands, and they’re a special kind of people. Not all bad, but vey chauvinistic. Either way, the dutchman in me feels a bit proud to see our country represented in a game like wows 👍🏻
remember the the gadjamada is a gun destroyer to , and is best for agrasive harrasment of battle ships.
Also the design of friesland was a further development of the holland class subhunters that where designed in the 40s and only when the first 4 where layed down in 1950 an improved version was orderd same design different propulsion a little bit larger and improved AA. plus they where designed with the capability of using British MK 20E torpedo’s in fixed forward angled torpedo tubes.

HNLMS Utrecht (D817) (Dutch: Hr.Ms. Utrecht) was a destroyer of the Friesland class. The ship was in service with the Royal Netherlands Navy from 1957 to 1980. The destroyer was named after the Dutch province of Utrecht and was the eighteenth ship with this name. In 1980 the ship was taken out of service and sold to Peru where it was renamed Castilla. The ship's radio call sign was "PAEY".[1]
Dutch service history
HNLMS Utrecht was one of eight Friesland-class destroyers and was built at the KM de Schelde in Vlissingen. The keel laying took place on 15 February 1954 and the launching on 2 June 1956. The ship was put into service on 1 October 1957.[2]
In 1959 the ship received eight torpedo tubes so it could use the British MK 20E torpedo. After a few years these were removed however, because the Dutch navy favored American torpedoes.[3]
In 1962 during the West New Guinea dispute Utrecht and the frigate Evertsen engaged Proa’s and fast attack craft in the Battle of Arafura Sea.[3]
On 1 August 1980 the vessel was decommissioned and sold to the Peruvian Navy.[4]

Does the gameplay for it get better in higher tiers? I mean tiers 1 to 3 that I've tried have been terribly broken with those little MG's, I can't get close enough to hit anything before dying lmao it's just brutal.
This class of ship was historically some type of dedicated sub hunter. I'd say there will be something special coming with this ship when submarines come along.

I have noticed that the premium shop Friesland bundle comes with a flag that is not the flag from Friesland but from west-Friesland, a different area in the Netherlands. Does someone know if WG just screwed up here or is there a reason to include this particular flag?

Just wanted to query what jingles means when he says the superstructure being damage saturated as I'm little confused
I think he means the various parts of the ship have certain amounts of HP assigned, so when HP of the entire superstructure reaches 0 you can shoot at it all you want but won't do further damage to your target.

HNLMS Friesland is now the name of a cargo ship ferrying people and cars to the Island of Terschelling.
That wouldn't be the navy ship Friesland, but the MS Friesland. owned by the Doeksen ferry company. The Navy ship Friesland, or Zr. Ms. Friesland is an Oceangoing Patrol Vessel or OPV they use for coastal patrol duties and as a dutyship in the West. The new OPV pack a reasonable punch and speed. They are very succesfull in the West hunting down drug smuggling fast boats. The Zr. Ms. Groningen will be stationed there in the coming years.

i live not too far away from the wharfes where these were built. Next time your in amsterdam Jingles you should go check them out as its not an active wharf anymore you can just walk to it and around the drydocks and such.

Goodday Sir Jingles, although i do not play WoWs i am a native Frisian, so i was intrigued by the title. Too bad you did not go too deep into the history of the ship and focused more on its gameplay. Still enjoyed it and keep up the good work
I guess the Friesland is one of those ships that can be tailored to the player with the right skills.
I use mine with CE and RL on a 14 point commander (from my Blyskawica) and play mine as a destroyer hunter. But it could just as easily be tailored for a 17+ km firestarter with AFT and DE, it all depends on how you wanna play it. Finally a ship which doesn't seem to have a cookie cutter build!
