I sit here in the U.S., in front of the fire, having all my honey-dos completed, and one of my favorite restoration/repair videos pops up. What a nice Christmas present……hoping for the best of the best for you and your loved ones this coming year.
From across the pond. Wish I had this video 6 months ago. My friend, Liz and I repair like mowers. She finds them along the road as part of her job on a school bus. I retrieve them, and do the rebuild / repairs. Then Liz does the "hair and make-up" which really does sell them. She is originally from St. Ouen, Jersey, and we're both in our mid-70's. Narragansett Bay
I had no doubt it would run perfectly in the end to mow the most mowed lawn in all of Christendom. Thank you and have yourself a Merry Christmas and a canny New Year!
I've now been watching this channel for years. It's always enjoyable and I love the commentary. Why tho? I'll never rebuild a motor. I won't repair a lawn mower. I won't even mow my lawns lol. But it is strangely relaxing....
Thanks for the rebuild! I know that from an economic view, the engine wasn't really worth a new crank, but at least you have a good obe for another mower! I have to say that I am really disapointed in the newer Briggs engines, you can see from this rebuild the lower quality of some of the parts. Prices however continue to go up! Thanks again and happy holidays to you and your family!
Modern Engine = Modern-style repair video? 🤗 I really love your videos, especially the full restorations, and this one is no exception (I voted to restore!). One comment though - don’t speed up your voice - your voice is your greatest asset. Edit your script to be more succinct if you feel the need for the voiceover to be quicker. Your natural speaking speed is best! Merry Christmas from Japan!
Glad you are back. Was beginning to wonder... I'll bet it was Hedgey's fault - stardom has gone to his head and he demanded a luxury cruise in the Bahamas for a month or so.
Wow, the engineering that goes into those motors is amazing, who could have ever guessed that an internal combustion engine could be made of plastic. I bet that crank shaft cost more than one of those throw away engines. Something to be really proud of B&S, how humiliating! I can see why you weren't keen on rebuilding this junk Daggerwin.
Is there anyway of contacting you personally, we are based near Portsmouth in Hampshire and have 100s of old garden machines that would be great restoration projects if you are interested
Have say I did not think I would like the 30 min video as your vids are typical longer, but I like the it. I know this type of video is far more time consuming to produce, but please continue as I throughly enjoy your rebuild, looking for to the next one.
This was a amazing restoration on that engine I’ve definitely learning lots about engine rebuilding I did vote if I remember weeks ago to actually restore this engine because know that you have a complete restored engine your right if you find a mower with a blown engine but decent deck then you could make a decent mower It really did a very good job on your lawn looked amazing and sounds great lovely video daggerwin I’ve enjoyed watching you restore that engine I’m looking forward to seeing you do more restoration projects on this channel in the new year Merry Christmas daggerwin and have a wonderful week and a lovely holiday period ☃️🎄❄️🎄🎁👍
17:27 "I do like to also put a bit of lube in the bore", a bit!! It's more like you buy your Permatex Ultra Slick in a 50 gallon barrel and then decant it into the small plastic bottle we see on screen...🤣🤣🤣 Merry Cheiatmas to you and yours Mr Machinery Restorer. Thank you for all the excellent videos this year...🎄🎄🎄🎄☃☃☃☃🎅🏿🎅🏿🎅🏿🎅🏿
Excellent Video Machinery Restore :) nice rebuild job to this Push Lawn mower also Merry Christmas 🎅 and Happy New Year 2025 too and hope Santa 🎅 Clause brings you to lots treats !
Can't say I'm a huge fan of these engines. They never seem to run that nicely even when properly set up, and the plastic carbs seem to be very hit and miss. Interesting video though, cheers.
So.much.plastic… 😢 are all modern B&S engines like this? Really there is truth in the saying “they don’t make ‘em like they used to” - I nearly cried at the plastic camshaft ..

When did yt become Facebook? Do you repair your own stuff?
Talking while working is 1000% better than voice over every time.
A perfect afternoon with a video this Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas from Smaland Sweden
Thank you for restoring the engine these restorations are always appreciated . I hope you’re enjoying Christmas with family and friends 🇬🇧

There's a lot of plastic where plastic shouldn't be
You should restore a Honda GX120-160 , cool little engines
Thanks for the video, what was you out of pocket expense for the rebuild.

"Worth" Maybe not financially
Cool enough for a video : HELL YES!
Tom Doby Mower Repair would be proud lol
I've never seen plastic camshaft lobes before, is that common in mower engines?
Nice
Can't say I'm a huge fan of these engines. They never seem to run that nicely even when properly set up, and the plastic carbs seem to be very hit and miss. Interesting video though, cheers.
Wow, those are tiny valves.
❤
So.much.plastic… 😢 are all modern B&S engines like this? Really there is truth in the saying “they don’t make ‘em like they used to” - I nearly cried at the plastic camshaft ..

Too much Christmas sherry
When will B&S finally produce an all plastic engine ? --- Shame
Dang I'm early
I liked my own comment
who's gonna tell him that there is a shaft straightening device
MUFFLER!!!!!!!
PLASTIC cam lobes?? 😮😮😮
There is nothing "nice" about B&S motors, cheap, nasty American junk.
have you seen the cost of a new engine?
Merry Christmas
Same to you!
