Day just got instantly better. Also i am working on my own project right now 😂. It is a John deere 318 that has sat for 20 years!!! I will have a video out soon fixing it.
I love these videos an find restoration really interesting. I'd love to try doing something simple myself but no idea how or where to start, any ideas for help?
We have a collection of tillers, rotavators, mantises and mowers outside. A garage more or less full of mower engines and parts including strimmers and brushcutters. We seem to like collecting these things.
..lol.. I'm restoring a John Deere 205 it's been sitting for 20 years just finished the deck new bearings belts blades.the motor runs great ..the mower has low hours on it..I just need to finish painting..then on to the next one.. Cheers everyone from McDonough Georgia 🍻🍻🍻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
i have no idea how you record this daggerwin, but you make the quality image and audio so clean and good and perfect. Your quality and effort on this videos is really top tier.
Cool info about flymo, it was founded and owned by a swedish company, called husqvarna. The first hover mover was invented by a swede called karl dahlman in 1963 :)
One tip on taking out stuck jets and emulsion tubes. Tap the back of the screwdriver with a hammer while turning the screwdriver. Great job on the video. Very therapeutic
You have wrecked my viewing of other repair channels! I keep saying things like heh he didn't replce the gaskets or change the air filter etc. Enjoyed the video very much, thanks
I was hoping you were going to do a complete restoration, I really enjoy watching them go from junk to a beautiful machine. Thanks for the great content, and I’m looking forward to your next video.
My father sold Flymo years ago here in the US. The were 2 Cycle, so you could mow on steep hills. I remember the carberettor being very difficult to adjust so that it would run properly. No wheels, just glide on air!
15 years ago I got a Flymo given to by a friend who managed to cut off a bit of toe with it (twit). It went well for a few weeks then one day the lift fan disintegrated and that was it I couldn’t even get parts from Husqvarna who were manufacturing for a time. It was a rare find in Aurora Ontario and I was quite disappointed that I had to scrap it.
I had the opportunity many years ago when I worked with a contractor that was a Brit here in the states and he had one of these Flymo mowers and it worked great.
cuts great and pretty fast for an old mower would love to see it fully restored and painted up but i realize this all costs money , really enjoying these video's as well as your farm sim vids keep up the great work Daggerwin :)
I enjoy your videos. If I may just add, I have noticed that other RUclipsrs say you should oil a new sponge air filter otherwise it will not filter correctly. I would refer you to "the exert James Condon" and also to Taryl Fixes All on this subject. You did power clean the machine at the end, however, I would have done that at the start to make the job easier to work on and film. Cheers to you and good luck for the future.
Wow! I never thought I would see that machine being fixed, that is my all time favourite hover mower from flymo, they were brilliant when going over soggy banks and dense grass, sadly the plastic decks would wear out and need replacing, and parts for this are very scarce. Great video!
Neat machines, Kinda hard to find one here in the states as they are more popular in the U.K. I bought a Tecumseh powered one with the handelbar air filter snorkel on Fleabay & worked ok but found the muffler melted & baked & cracked the deck around the engine support webbing. Also no safty switches & a bit awkward to move about without wheels & the hover fan tends to flatten the grass. I like the vintage 60s Toro ones & also the small Flymo Kawasaki Tl Micromo.✌👍
Very interesting. I had no idea they made such a large model. It certainly does cut level, though as you say it leaves the rows of cuttings. You did very well with it. Thanks!
Excellent video :) also yes surprises me all balls were not gone and bend shafts too ! But save it and good go for another many years ahead! I never used them ever and but so cool too!
Amazing compact old Girl, I realise the job was tough, but definitely think your better working alone, too many cooks etc. But will deny saying that if your mates are reading this comment lol
The mower did great, I think it would have done a nicer job if the grass was not wet. I have a general question with these small Briggs engines, Do you check the oil with the dip stick screwed back in or just dip it to the cap?
I,m very suprised you didn,t do a simple repair on the tray.A couple of drill holes and a couple of small plated would have bought the edges together nicely and strenghthened it
I might be wrong but I think you find these machines were built and assembled a the Countax plant at Great Haseley for Flymo way before Countax started to produce the K series tractors
I've never seen a hover mower like that before, I used to have a Cobra hover with a petrol engine on it and a detachable wheel kit but it wasn't wide like that.
use a grinder with a sanding disc instead of a wire brush , get it to bare metal and your welds will come out better. Try not yo weld rusty metal if you can help it
Another excellent video, I really enjoy your presentation style, you are so interesting to listen to. Do you do everything from experience and memory or do you use manuals? If you use manuals can you suggest a good source I am working on a Countax C600H and Kubota GR2120 but so far have been unable to find a good workshop manual.
Thank you for another great restoration. well done. what is the CARB spray you mention? i definatley need some of that in my working world, and what type of welding machine do you use? i need to get one but dont know the best type to get.. thank you
I'm joining you from the US. We don't have machines like this here. I would love to see you do a restoration on one of these so that I can learn more about them. I find them very interesting. I would love to find a way to import one if I can find it cheap enough.
Hi could you maybe if you can get your hands on one of these do a restoration of an Allen scythe with a two stroke Villiers engine this would be rally cool!
The one thing I would have done extra is to change completely the iron piece that connects the 2 spindels and not weld it cause it is not heavy duty and moreover very rotten and prone to break again... Otherwise nice fix video!
I would've never expected such a big hover mower, seems like an odd design. With robotic lawn mowers seeming to struggle to move, maybe they need a hovering front deck to sort out the mobility.
Not exactly a hover mower is it lol. It would probably work a bit better and clump up less if the fan was less damaged, as it is the outer part of the fan blades that are broken that would have moved the most air, maybe giving the deck a bit more float. Love your videos... looking forward to more 😊
grouse job mate she looks lovely afterwards and as for the well bearing yep no kidding they were loud shockers for sure from my view just looking at how they were spinning and i could tell right away the right one on the drive wheel pulleys had a lot of play in it but yeah changing both sets paid off in the long run and that old carburetor aka carby yep i would simply taking a propane torch with the nice flame and very carefully heat it up around the main jet is and then spray the oil down there as it would smoke but that,s a good sign as it,s allowing the oil to see past and expanding the aluminum etc but yeah all good and by the looks of thins yep she,s probably gonna need a paint job and well the deck might need a small fix too but yeah too easy i reckon and that,s a good engine from my view too and some people probably reckon they are terrible but yeah i like them for sure and only because it,s a qaulity engine and made by Briggs and Stratton decades ago for sure from it,s age and era etc and cheers from Australia 🐨🐑🦘🌏🇦🇺 or the land down under and yep Flymo is a good brand for sure for the average user but yeah i cannot blame there comply too.
Hello, ive got a westwood s800 but it has a Briggs and Stratton 12hp power built engine, ive tried to tune the carb on it but ive ended up just making it worse than it already was,can someone tell me how many turns out on the air/fuel screw i need.
Day just got instantly better. Also i am working on my own project right now 😂. It is a John deere 318 that has sat for 20 years!!! I will have a video out soon fixing it.
Same here ,I working on a castle garden lawnmower, machinery restorer is brilliant inspiration to such a great hobby
I did like the trick of welding nuts to the inner bearing race so you could press it off…will be giving it a go the next time I get the same problem
I love these videos an find restoration really interesting. I'd love to try doing something simple myself but no idea how or where to start, any ideas for help?

I thought the voice was very familiar
This man has the cleanest audio all the time! Very enjoyable to listen to.
It’s nice to see old machines back up and running. I’m surprised how good that carburetor cleaned up! 🎉
It cleaned up that good the fuel tap magically washed away.
For an old machine, it does a great job of cutting the grass. Great restoration as always.
You have wrecked my viewing of other repair channels! I keep saying things like heh he didn't replce the gaskets or change the air filter etc. Enjoyed the video very much, thanks

I live in Alberta Canada. I sure wish my winters looked like yours.... Your channel is awesome by the way. Thanks for your hard work!
It isn't too bad this year. 😂
@@Sunny-MuffinsHot-ish, cold-ish, spring, HOLY HELL ITS COLD, and everything in-between.
Hi from the US. Love the made in England pulleys and US engine working together in harmony! Almost nothing is made in our countries anymore it seems.
By far one of my favourite channels, so easy to watch and informative !
Another awesome fix. Hope you're feeling better now.

Good working to show us all the details, thank you
I screamed when this popped up! Hope you’re doing well! Day maker for sure!!!🎉🎉😊
I enjoy your videos.

Nice having the right tools for the job.
Nice fix, went from chopping to cutting the grass 😊
I’m pretty annoyed at RUclips for not recommending your videos. It’s nice this evening I found 2 I hadn’t seen but still.
I used to use one. I had the seat attached. It was a great machine to operate.
I am always glad to see another video where yo fix the mowers. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to your next video.
You got to love a flymo. Nice to see it being saved 👌👍👀
Very interesting. I had no idea they made such a large model. It certainly does cut level, though as you say it leaves the rows of cuttings. You did very well with it. Thanks!
Great restoration, mows very well.
What a fantastic looking mower..
You definitely got that right about that mower is definitely a big hover mower 👍😎
Excellent video :) also yes surprises me all balls were not gone and bend shafts too ! But save it and good go for another many years ahead! I never used them ever and but so cool too!
Nice fix! This is an interesting mower in theory. Not sure I’d use it in a commercial application.
What a nice mower great cut aswell, job well done. Just makes yuh want to go outside and start cutting the grass 👍
Excellent video as always! Thank you so much.
Great video, thanks for sharing.
Good job mister beautifully done
Thanks for another great video! Always inspiring and relaxing to watch you fix up all kinds of machines. Great quality content👍
Amazing compact old Girl, I realise the job was tough, but definitely think your better working alone, too many cooks etc. But will deny saying that if your mates are reading this comment lol
I wild have completely restored this fine piece of English technology.
Is that right it only has 1 impeller? looks like its missing one to me. Nicely done anyway 👍
Great timing!
The mower did great, I think it would have done a nicer job if the grass was not wet. I have a general question with these small Briggs engines, Do you check the oil with the dip stick screwed back in or just dip it to the cap?
Why does only one side have the impeller? Id imagine their would be 2.
Flymo's were advertised as mower/ munchers. Had small one till it disassembled itself.
Awesome video as always 👌
Impeller, 3D printing adventure ... or model it and get pcbway to print you one perhaps
I love your videos!
So long I has longing after a new restoration video❤
I hope you filing well now😊
Many interesting videos! Are snails a common issue in the UK? I've never seen them in the US
I’m in northern England and I see a lot of them here. Not sure about the south of England though.
Flymo's always seem to cut nicely
I,m very suprised you didn,t do a simple repair on the tray.A couple of drill holes and a couple of small plated would have bought the edges together nicely and strenghthened it
I might be wrong but I think you find these machines were built and assembled a the Countax plant at Great Haseley for Flymo way before Countax started to produce the K series tractors
Have you got a manual impact screwdriver for stubborn screw? The kind you hit with a hammer. Life saver them👍
What an interesting machine. I am fascinated by these hover machines. I would love to have the opportunity to find one to play with.
Hey bud you’re missing the other fan blade it’s supposed to have another one it’s very important to it for the Flymo gcl75
But there's only an "inlet hole" on one side. 😉
I've never seen a hover mower like that before, I used to have a Cobra hover with a petrol engine on it and a detachable wheel kit but it wasn't wide like that.
use a grinder with a sanding disc instead of a wire brush , get it to bare metal and your welds will come out better. Try not yo weld rusty metal if you can help it
Always a great day when you put out a new video 👍
Does anyone know what happened with *"part 2"* re:
- FIXING A CHEAP FOUR-WHEELER QUAD BIKE?
*OR*
- SINGLE CYLINDER DIESEL RIDE ON MOWER CONVERSION?
Such an unusual machine! Nice find and good save as usual
Great project for your enviable skills. I always look forward to your videos.
How cool is this never seen one before I want one lol
Thank you for another great restoration. well done.
what is the CARB spray you mention? i definatley need some of that in my working world, and what type of welding machine do you use? i need to get one but dont know the best type to get..
thank you
Thanks! I use STP Carb Cleaner. the welder is a Clarke 135
Hi daggerwin. What is that tool you used for the jets. I always strip the heads with a normal slot screwdriver.
This side ….“Not as bad”😂😂😂
I'm joining you from the US. We don't have machines like this here. I would love to see you do a restoration on one of these so that I can learn more about them. I find them very interesting. I would love to find a way to import one if I can find it cheap enough.
Hi could you maybe if you can get your hands on one of these do a restoration of an Allen scythe with a two stroke Villiers engine this would be rally cool!
Should there be another impeller on the other spindle?
"Made in England. 5 inch. Nice."
- Daggerwin, 2024
That was disappointing ! It would have been so easy to have remade that cracked part with new thicker box section.
It cut's quite nice.
i remembered them i thought allen made them
Could maybe a little anti seize be put on the emolsion tube threads to stop it from catching or would that not be a good idea?
The Swedish are smart.
Flymo... Had one with a twostroke, i was terrifyed with the rpm.
Great fix
Welcome back! I enjoy your videos..
Welcome back, it's been way to long in coming 😊
None of my subscriptions had any videos out. Thanks missed your videos
The one thing I would have done extra is to change completely the iron piece that connects the 2 spindels and not weld it cause it is not heavy duty and moreover very rotten and prone to break again... Otherwise nice fix video!
Are they worth much? Or rare? Got one sat in my yard, had it working a few years ago
Well done!
Ebay has impact drivers for like $25 us. Its like a screw driver but its super heavy and you smack it with a hammer. I have not had one fail me yet.
I'm in the market for a new Ultrasonic cleaner, what cleaner do you use Daggerwin? Also very cool and satisfying watch keep it up!
I would've never expected such a big hover mower, seems like an odd design. With robotic lawn mowers seeming to struggle to move, maybe they need a hovering front deck to sort out the mobility.
Imoeller replacement, get an 3dprinter
For the love of God and the Queen I know you are going to fix the cracked pan right
Not exactly a hover mower is it lol. It would probably work a bit better and clump up less if the fan was less damaged, as it is the outer part of the fan blades that are broken that would have moved the most air, maybe giving the deck a bit more float. Love your videos... looking forward to more 😊

Great video 👏🏻
Great job.
51:56 Probably should of just hosed that Flymo sticker off 😂, it’s so battered…. Not a criticism, just an opinion…
53:12 ignore that comment, the paint on the cover itself is already beat up, so fir a repair, it’s good enough..
all the large flymos suffered ware and splitting on the edgedge of the hover deck
nice job.
You need to invest in a puller to get those pulleys off.
It seems like the video quality is a lot better. Or is it my imagination?
That was a beautiful sounding welter you have. What brand is it? And i wonder if its sold in america.
Brilliant love your videos ❤
It amaze me, al it needed was a little bit of cleaning & a new carb! Wel better *used* one ...
