Pull the leaf out that you have fitted on the top the original lower load leaf and put it back on the bottom and make sure it is loaded against the leaf above it. Because as the car accelerates the diff pinion will pull upwards the leaf will fix that basically a home made caltrack.

chuck a steel el wagon tail shaft in it. I kept snapping alloy ones in my au wagon. put a steel el wagon one in did 100s of skids no issue afterwards

Won’t be a solid shaft but you can get shafts made with enough strength to handle any abuse. Gj drivelines are pretty good, Hardie spicer is another.
