I hey guys I thought I’d offer a helping hand via a little advice. I’m currently working on a 1956 fair lane crown Victoria. Basically the same car. First off these cars up until 58 I believe will only turn over with the key if it’s in neutral. There is a neutral safety switch where the steering column goes through the firewall. It’s attached to the column in the engine bay right up close to the firewall. There is two “I believe red” wires going to the switch. If you jump those two wires together it bypasses the neutral switch and should turn over with the key in any gear. I hope this helps. Also I would almost guarantee that your spark problem is in your points and or condenser. Check out a video on how to clean and or replace points. Looking forward to seeing you get this ol girl to fire. Oh yeah and if this helps make me a star and mention my name Chris mink. Good luck guys
We knew of the safety switch, but weren't aware of the bypass. Good info. Working on updates. Been replacing parts and chasing gremlins. We will try to mention you by name for the help. Lol
How much you want to bet it's the POINTS. you replaced the rotor but how many years have those points been sitting there? They corrode, oxidize, swell. Personally I would have replaced the points, rotor, cap and wires. Also turn it over with the cap off to see if the rotor is spinning.
A whole can of starting fluid is useless without spark. Also it will wash down the cylinders and can do bad things to the motor. Keep a good attitude and you’re getting a lot of good advice from some nice folks.
We agree that there is a lot of good advice coming in. We just discussed the fuel system last night to get away from starting fluid. The oil smelled heavily of starting fluid when we changed it.
Did you check your starter relay switch cuz sometimes it gets weak and if this week you might have to get a new one check that one have a good time with it
We have it in neutral. We are thinking there is an issue with the brittle wiring that is preventing it from starting with the key, or it is from where we replaced the internal ignition. We will figure it out at some point. Until then, we jump it. We appreciate the comment.
Turn the key on , you should have current on the pos. Side of the coil . If nothing then put a jumper from battery pos . To the coil pos. That should give you spark
We tried that. Even replaced the condensor. I think the poor thing is just wore out. Hopefully getting back to it soon. Stay tuned. Thanks for watching.

You did what most folks without an automotive or diagnostic background do: You fired the Parts Cannon at it several times hoping you would hit the mark.
