    Just throwing this out there just in case it helps anyone. But I recently had to move my chickens into my barn due to the blast of arctic cold. I have a 30x40' pole barn, 12' ceilings. I am using a 125,000 BTU Kerosene torpedo heater. The heater has been running 48 hours straight right now and I have gone through 10 gallons of kerosene. I believe I am paying $5 per gallon. It has been keeping the temp at about 40 degrees. This is really an emergency situation and I don't normally heat my barn 24hrs a day. But I was actually pleasantly surprised to see that I could go on a 10 gallon tank of Kerosene for 48 hrs straight. And the heater is not kicking on all the time (I can hear it running if I stick my head out the door). Not exactly a cost effective solution, but at least it is working w/o it having to be constantly refilled every few hours. And it takes less than an hour to heat up the barn 20 degrees.

    • @bobgunner3086
      @bobgunner3086 3 дня назад

      Technically I estimate that if I ran the 10 gallon tank dry, I could get around 58 hours out of one tank at 40 degrees. I just don't want to risk running out of fuel in the middle of the night.

    • @muchgooderish
      @muchgooderish 3 дня назад

      Gotta keep the chickens warm. I use a 185,000 - 225,000 btu kerosene heater to quickly bring up temps, then sustain it with the pellet stove. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    • @bobgunner3086
      @bobgunner3086 3 дня назад

      @ honestly, that does not seem like such a bad solution ... especially if you got the pellet stove for free. I could go for a situation like that I think.

    • @muchgooderish
      @muchgooderish 2 дня назад

      @ Since we are not heating the barn all the time, I probably only spend about $100 a year on Kerosene, and $60 a year on pellets. The new insulation helps as well. A LOT!!

    We found your first videos on the Fairlane a while back while doing some research on the ‘56 we purchased as our first project. We have a bunch of videos on getting the y block running. Ours started with a bent pushrod. It’s now fuel injected on a Holley Sniper and a HEI distributor. Check out our channel “Fixin Two.” Nowadays “different” is keeping it stock. Thats horrible. Glad it was not worse. I had a coworker whos brother was bounced off his tractor and he was unfortunately caught under the brush cutter. They found his tractor mowing in circles in a field, and didnt find him until hours later. He was not as lucky.

    I just got my CK2620SE cab in 2023, replacing an open station 3510SE. I agree with all of the points you made to buy the cab over the open station tractor. But I’ll add one more justification I made here in the windy, foggy coastal California climate I live in, I have an angry neighbor who is suing me over a dispute on an access easement on my property. If I don’t want to talk to her, I can keep the door closed and keep going! (The lawsuit is finally getting close to a settlement where I won anyway) Worth every penny not having to take that grief!

    I specified that my new Kioti HAD to have a cab. I was done with plowing snow and freezing my butt of with an open station tractor. The extra 8 grand was worth it to me. I don't have A/C, I bought primarily for the winter. I do have a fan that I can set up to blow air on me in the summer. In the 12 years that I have owned and run this Kioti CK27hst I have broken zero windows and haven't gotten smacked in the face with any branches.

    It depends on applacations. I have the rx7320 cab kioti . Plowing snow in winter. Moving tree debris in summer. And making mulch . Large field mowing jobs. Helping local orchards with there needs if they are down a tractor. It all has benifits in my mind to own a cab tractor. It gets you out of eliments . Which for some can cause some harm . Pollin in spring time sure sucks to breath in when mowing pastures 8 hours a day . The one downside is the repair of ac or heater system. Which costs thousands. And if you blow out a window . Those get pricey to repair.

    • @muchgooderish

      I had my AC break while under warranty, thankfully. It was just a vent that wouldnt open. I bet it would be expensive out of pocket. And I hope I never have to replace any glass.

    And here's the best part. I own the 25 hp equivalent in a John Deere (without a cab). And I can sell that for as much as I paid for it and get one of those Kioti tractors WITH a cab, PLUS much more front bucket and PTO lift capacity...for pretty much the same damned price! Granted, I won't have the 4 in 1 bucket that I have on my JD. But I've got an excavator, so I guess I'll just use that!

    • @muchgooderish
      @muchgooderish 3 месяца назад

      All tractors have their plus positives and negatives, but bang for buck, I felt the Kioti was a great deal and has done everything I have asked of it.

    • @carolewarner101
      @carolewarner101 3 месяца назад

      @@muchgooderish We've been actively looking at trading the JD for a Kiot with a cab. We're getting up in years and have found the tractor to be indispensable on our land. We'll be moving out there soon, which means using it in four seasons vrs just good weather. We'll be having to plow snow in the winter and work in the rain with it a lot more, and we aren't getting any younger. Just last summer I was cutting up a downed tree that happened to have an in ground yellow jacket nest down at the other end. The vibrations passing through the log agitating the hive, and I got nailed with seven stings in a matter of seconds! I was in pain for three days and itched terribly for two weeks...miserable! THIS summer we had to clear trees for our new shop and one had a large paper wasp nest in it, but this time I had a small excavator with a CAB. Oh the satisfaction of knocking it down out of the tree, smashing the nest to a pancake under the bucket and driving away without a sting despite hundreds of torpedo-like, dive bomb hits to the glass of the cab with them trying to get at me! 😇 When we found out how much more reasonably priced Kioti tractors are compared to JD & Kubotas, with a very similar level of quality AND so many additional features and better lifting specs, we were sold! There's a very real chance we'll be able to practically trade one tractor for the other (financially), perhaps spending a few thousand more for SO much more tractor with that cab. Anyway, appreciate your video.
