Megs: "No. It's just that I've noticed some weird things lately..."
CP: "Oh?"
Megs: "Yes, well for starters, you have a name which is very similar to an Autobot... What was it ... Punch?"
CP: "Ah, well, this must be one of those weird coincidences..."
Megs: "Perhaps, but I've noticed that your back looks suspiciously like his front..."
CP: "Ah, really... well that's weird..."
Megs: "Yes. And my soldiers have assured me that they've also noticed that Punch's back looks suspiciously like your front..."
CP: "Oh, well, hey, maybe we're long lost brothers or something..."
Megs: "That would probably explain why you both have this weird black helmet-like head."
CP: "Euh... eh, eh, yeah, I guess so..."
Megs: "And why you both have the exact same alt-mode..."
CP: ** sweats fucking bolts at this point **

Megatron: Just wanted to warn you in case Punch tries to impersonate you or anything.
CP:Y-Yes, of course lord Megatron. (Drives away as fast as possible)

See, this is why Punch makes WAY more sense as an alternate form of COUNTERPUNCH. If CP was the normal robot mode, and Punch was some double-spy idea he came up with, it would make so much more sense.
By the holy decree of Primus, he shall henceforth be referred to as Counch-Puntercounch exclusively. Make it so.

One of the more common story motifs that gets thrown around on the rare times Punch does show up is that he's worried about that whole split-personality takeover. Like he's worried that he likes being Counterpunch too much. Guess Thew found the reason - namely, Counterpunch looks better.
Also, frankly, given the quality of your average Thirteen story, I can't help but think "yeah, they kinda deserved this nonsense."
That jekyll & hyde story is actually quite intriguing (in the OG story, Hyde wasn't a split personality, as the potion used to *transform* was only a physical transformation)

My older sister has a thing where she's sort of interested in Transformers, but mostly just more obscure characters ('84 Ark crew who didn't quite make it out of G1 like Bluestreak, female Autobots who aren't Arcee, and mid-to-late G1 'bots like guess who?), so as soon as I showed her that a Generations Counch/Puntercounch existed, she insisted I should get one. I still haven't (The Prime Wars Dinobots/Terrorcons, the Siege Ark Crew, and Studio Series everything is holding my focus), but I'd like to someday.

As soon as I got mine, I set little Prima off to the side on my bedspread and proceeded to completely forget about her for the better part of an hour, and by the time I remembered "Oh yeah, there was another toy in that box, wasn't there?" she was long gone. So I basically got one of the most powerful characters in the Transformers universe, and immediately lost it. Whoops.
I find the prime armor works well as a Sideswipe style jetpack.

I actually kinda like the primes, not for the intended play, but to have. More annoying is half of the 13 were pack-ins to their biggest and rarest toys. At least Takara bailed us out from Hasbro's half-assed rare ass event exclusive bombast, but good luck getting the last one of you didn't want predaking. I just say the thirteenth was

I think they make kind of a neat substitute head for Titans Return bodies if you wanted a Functionist Council. And, y'know, the Pretenders.

Love this review. As always intertaining as hell and for one of my favorite characters to boot. To make things better for this figure, his alt mode is based on a customized Infiniti Vision GT concept. Epic win all round!
Speaking of POTP: as of yesterday i FINALLY completed my Volcanicus.
Just in from work, got myself a Jack & Coke & settled down for your latest review..., and once again I'm having to rewind the 'Counch-Puntercounch' section over & over again, trying to stifle the same hysterics as the unboxing video, what with the missus & kids being asleep upstairs. I love the realisation hitting half way through saying it. Absolutely brilliant!!!

But yeah, when I went to London MCM, I saw him at the In Demand Toys stall, but I instead went for PotP Blast Off instead (as I wanted a slightly accurate Bruticus as well as having the flamethrower arm thing like with the Fall of Cyberton guy). Maybe I'll pick CPC another time (if they have any of him left).

im still crying at power of the papoose. After so many months. its just hilarious
I remember being very impressed with this guy for his modern car altmode. We never get those anymore, now everything has to be the same 40 year old vehicles. Well, once my fingers had stopped hurting from doing the shoulder-fix.
The best description I've ever seen of this guy was "It's like if James Bond had an alter-ego he used for infiltration called Counterbond, who was obviously just James Bond walking backwards with a hat over his face, and drove James Bond's car. And somehow it worked."
Then again, 50% of Megatron's army is identical jetplane guys, and another 20% is identical camera/rectal thermometer guys. Punch and Counterpunch would hardly be the first guys to share an alternate mode.
Just got this (ordered it in December), i was torn on it but you convinced me.
Also i found that keeping the shoulders in the Counterpunch configuration for Punch works way better, and he still still looks different enough.

My favourite toy as a kid (the original G1), can't wait to get this one.
My favorite of the three exclusives. I really, really love the G1 toy for it's boldness and gimmick, and I knew I'd love this one. I agree with the POTP gimmick though. I've just kinda threw the POTP combiner hands into a box with the rest of the CW kibble I have. I threw the exclusive Primemasters from the three into Trypticon's belly where they sit with a few of my unused TR heads. I really only got the Primemasters with the Pretender suits. That's what I really wanted. A shame we never got the "Galactic Heavyweight Champ" Stranglehold. I love that guy.

i usually leave the Prime Papoose on the back of the figure. essentially making it a God-Powered-Jetpack
If you want each mode to have a weapon, Universe Scourge’s double-barreled blaster works really well for Counterpunch, and you can even store it under the front of the car if you put the back of the gun near the grill and the barrels between the head and the other gun.
I liked the look myself that I had to get two of them to have him in both Autobot and Decepticon mode. And to be a bit creative I used the Prime armor as a backpack that way you couldn't see his secondary bot mode. Still a fun badass figure.
His gun stores under the front of the car on a peg attached to one of the shoulders, also flip down his 'Con flap for car mode so everything like the grill fits better.

Pref the Autobot mode actually. I own the G1 version as well and I love the PotP version.
In case you didn't know, there's a little tab that plugs into the handle of the gun one of his shoulders and that allows you to stash it away in car mode.

I took the thumbs off of the fists and I use them as thruster packs instead of prime armors for Counch and Pountercounch. Yes I have two. I don't know why I do and I kinda feel bad for the people who couldn't get one but at least I didn't scalp my second one right? Right?
I just really wanted two and I'm somewhat anticipating Toyhax to come up with a set to turn him into another character or something. I've been purchasing multiples lately for that reason. Especially since Combiner Wars and how most figures go for insane money on the aftermarket now and most of them can easily be turned into other characters.

I actually really like the look of this figure . Sort of am kicking myself for not getting him when he was a good price . Power of the primes was an okay line could have been better but this figure helped the line for sure .
