I just read the latest Wimpy Kid book today and, even though I’m no longer in the target audience, I still laughed out loud more than once! Jeff’s such a great guy.
I respect Jeff for genuinely keeping the series great 15 years later, awesome interview!!

I actually met Jeff, once. His brother (the real life Roderick) runs a music shop in rural Virginia and I got my flute from his brother. I even have had one of my books signed by Jeff.
In real life, Roderick is very down to earth, polite, and a very kind man. Jeff is too!
It's been years since I was in the shop, but I think it's called Shamrock Music? Something like that. I know the store is Clover/Shamrock themed.
Yep, it's called Shamrock Music Shop. I'm from the same area and been there a few times. I remembered they had signed copies of the books but as a kid I don't think I ever drew the line until I was in high school

Definitely must be an honor to meet the legend himself, Jeff Kinney .
I always had horrible reading comprehension skills since I was little. I never passed a single reading test. When I started reading Diary Of A Wimpy Kid (elementary school), my life changed. I was able to understand everything and passed all my tests, I even did a book report with it. I’ve read the entire series at least 3 times, and finished this one yesterday as a senior in high school. Thank you so much Jeff. You’re awesome ❤️
Biggest Pet Peeve in DOAWK is how inconsistent time moves. First few books Greg actually grew, and then Jeff Kinney just halted his growth to keep him in the same grade for eternity

Well, that's kinda the point of cartoon/comic book characters that the characters are ageless.
@@weathermansam2 it could work if the books aged with their audience, here in the UK there's a popular children's character named Tracy Beaker who started off as a child in her early books and is now an adult with her own children in the current books. It's understandable though why some child characters don't age as it could potentially affect their marketability.
nah greg just started to get addicted to writing in his "journal" and more wacky, crazy antics and shenanigans happened in his everyday life

I think it's interesting cause Jeff Kinney and, previous guest, Butch Hartman feel like there's kind of a night-and-day difference between how they treat their fans. Both are nice, but I feel like Kinney is so much more down-to-earth. He has changed so much from a lot of his past and the fact that he finds it hard to go back to past books is interesting. Meanwhile Butch has not grown from his past at all.
I actually had the honor of randomly meeting Kinney at an amusement park back in 8th grade. My friend didn't want to go on a ride and so I went on my own, and lone behold he sits next to me, and I didn't even recognize him XD. I just started talking to him, and only found out at the end of the ride, by him telling me that he was the author.
By the way, seriously been enjoying these podcast episodes, you do such a great job ZOO-WEE-MAMA

I really liked the Rowley's Awesome Friendly Adventure book, the meta narrative was really clever and the actual story had a pretty clever ending too.
I never would’ve imagined that he sounds like Bob Belcher

I love all of those books. The movies were also really great (subtracting The Long Haul). You should also check out the new movie trailer for Rodrick Rules. I have feeling that are a mix of excitement and worry.

Another cool episode
I met Jeff Kinney once at a book signing at Costco (I think it was before the release of The Last Straw) when I was a kid. Super nice guy, line was wrapping around the store but he still took the time to talk to me and signed my books which I still have all these years later. Glad to see he's still keeping it going. I haven't finished the podcast but I hope he mentioned something about the fan made comics (LLBs) which are all over the internet (like /r/LodedDiper)
