Fun fact about the Beavis and Butthead kid, he never actually saw Beavis and Butthead, his mother was a negligent parent and actually contacted the news before calling 911, which is even more sad considering she didn’t try to save her daughter, and just blamed everything on TV.

I personally think it’s really unfair with the amount of backlash the Scooby-Doo: SpringTrap guy is getting. I believe AI should be okay to use if it evaluates an upcoming creator. Big companies have endless resources, why are we getting mad at someone who barely had any?

I recently checked out the video after LS Mark brought attention to it and I totally agree. It's really damn good. I think the hate is unwarranted regardless of anyones feelings on AI.
AI voices should be the only type of AI that we should embrace and encourage small animators to use, not something that i see a Major Studio using, but small RUclipsrs could have a blast, He didn't use AI to make the video, he used it the way we all wanted to use it
As an Assistant tool.
Which is why the backlash is undeserved.
i myself only uses AI as an Assistant (And only for one character too)
cause sometimes people just simply can't do voices or hire people
so stuff like UberDuck is really useful.

If they didn't caption that tweet with "Don't mess with Trudy" I'm willing to bet around 90% of the backlash wouldn't have happened. Framing it as people saying/implying that cartoons shouldn't be able to show shitty situations, or as a whole deal of "le twitter is so sensitive", is pretty disingenuous. Context clues matter; the people who made the "This is child abuse" tweets were referring to the Disney account going all "haha look at Trudy! She's being a tough mama haha, don't mess with her :P"
it's also important to remember too that the episode framed it in a way where trudy was never called out for doing that, and it seemed to be framed as a Normal Punishment. a lot of people in the replies and quote retweets were even talking about that
@@SuperKirbylover And also I don't get this whole "twitter doesn't want kids to deal with struggles/sensitive topics" argument. Because I've only ever seen people go out of their way to advocate for more sensitive topics in media meant for younger audiences.
Not to mention, Mark literally acknowledges that the show handles it poorly, but they have to sit there and mock either an argument no one's making, or a misinterpretation of the one people are making. He argues that kids aren't stupid... to the crowd that also argues that.
I do wanna mention how Grey in her video compared her voice being used with AI to getting groped.
I'm not really sure if those two are comparable.

I think the main reason people were upset wasnt just because it was being showcased, it was mainly because they presented penny's mom *in the right* for doing it.

It's not necessarily that there was a big shift in sentiment towards AI, it's still very popular for general audiences, it's really just that those within art circles/more conscious about the industry have gotten more vocal with their criticisms of it

Also i don’t mind ai for smaller creators, but for big budgets, they have the money that a small, one man team doesn’t have. I think like most things on Twitter, it was blown out of proportion too hard.

The funniest thing about that SpongeBob short is that while I was working on it I was seeing the clips with no context or audio so I saw the animations and was like "Wow, this looks like shit"
It reminds me of that one Tom and Jerry special, it was either wizard of oz or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

AI is complicated. Like on one hand if it’s a shitpost or something for fun then who cares? But when it’s a company or someone doing their furry commissions with AI then it’s yeah it’s a problem. I also feel like Grey Delisle making a video shitting on a kid to her weirdo fans is pretty bad too, like when you’re famous and have a way to communicate to fans maybe *don’t* post to your fans about how a video made by a kid pisses you off lol

Part of the backlash over The Proud Family episode might have something to do with the fact that this kind of writing was common in a lot of kids cartoons that were airing around the same time as the original show, with the new show retaining that style of writing. So this show keeping the cliche of having the parents be written as cartoonishly awful or idiots feels jarring when compared to other Disney Channel cartoons airing that do the exact opposite (Camilla from The Owl House and Anne's parents from Amphibia are huge examples of this).

Really? I thought the reason they cut that scene of Squidward blowing up was because the episode aired 1 month after 9/11, and it made viewers sensitive to that, but okay, that’s also an understandable reason. Either way, good episode.

Also I think the type of show it’s trying to be might have something to do with that. Cause what happens in that episode would be considered normal behaviour for an episode of Family Guy where you know these are bad people being as off the wall with their humour as possible but when your show explicitly tries to relate to it’s audience and be more down to earth, it becomes harder to justify that it’s all just a joke especially when it’s one of the driving factors of the episode’s plot.

It looks like this'll mention that fnaf ai thing. I think a lot of people need to realise that even if it's a small creator, supporting AI shows movie companies that people don't mind it. We shouldn't be supporting AI either way imo. Btw I don't think we should be yelling at a kid over this😭. I agree with mark on saying that we should recommend the going to twitter thing
I'd honestly agree, the act of normalizing the use of Ai in art is dangerous and sets a dangerous precedent in making artists and their craft replaceable which I don't think they understand in a annoying way. I also think we shouldn't scream or harass the kid who made it though BTW I'm not apart of that crowd in the discussion.

AI are robots.
Robots are computers.
Computers only ever do as they are told.
Computers are tools.
Any tool can be used for immoral reasons by anyone.
A shovel can be used to dig a hole to make a garden or break a person's skull.
Neither is the moral choice of the shovel itself. It's the wielder of the shovel that is the issue.
The AI itself is not really capable of doing anything on its own without human input to program it and give it instructions just like any other program or device.
Oh okay then let’s get rid of all gun laws and regulations.
You starting to see the issue? The law needs to catch up with AI, which only ever uses (steals) data from people who actually create this stuff.
@@rasengdori13 That is a strawman. You are completely misrepresemting what I said to make it easier to attack. Not once did I mention guns. I would hardly consider firearmsms a tool anyway. Besides, it is proven that if you take away guns, people will start to default to knives which are much easier to conceal and do sneaky elimination with because no amount of law is gonna stop people on top of the fact that statistics show countries with more widespread firearms suffer fewer gun crimes.
Frankly, I do NOT want the government giving special laws to robots. You can already accomplish the exact same thing by going on the internet, downloading several files and either trace the art or sentence mix audio of a voice actor or character (something you see YTPs and TF2 parodies do all the time). The only difference with AI is that the robot gets a similar result in less time.

Here's my suggestion for a group costume that's tied to a story:
My cousin was in a Halloween party with his buddies, and they decided to do a costume contest for the best duo. The obvious picks were already there: Mario and Luigi, Sonic and Tails, but they settled on Scooby and Shaggy.
My cousin didn't need to do much since he already had long hair, so he just needed a green shirt and a little stubble. They still screwed that up, and his entire chin ended up black.
His friend was Scooby, which already raised problems since he's pasty white, and there was no brown face paint. (Obviously.)
They mixed a few colors, gave him a black nose, and all was set... except for the ears. They had no ears. They, somehow, settled on a Jamaican hat since Scooby wore it on a plush I guess.
By the time they realized what they had done, it was way too late.
So yeah be scooby gang.

I think people misconstrued the AI hate. Big corporations using AI for artistic projects is bad. Using AI for much smaller scale things and projects is ok.

the issue with the proud family wasn't that it was covering a dark topic, it's that the episode frames a CHILD being locked out of the house for merely *accidentally* coming back late as a normal punishment. it struck with many people who had this exact thing happen to them and it hurt to see it be considered "normal." not to mention, the father simply just gave the kid bus money, which doesn't fix the issue at all. i would not trust a child at NIGHT to be alone on a bus, especially when violence against POC is so high as it is
not a fan of the "triggered" joke either, just feels like it's mocking people who have these traumas. christ man

All the unnecessary backlash that Eagan got for using ai voices because he didn't have the budget to hire a full voice cast was just sad and infuriating, I mean the guy clearly stated in the description of his animation that he was going to hire more voice actors once he had the money but people like Grey DeLisle treated him like he committed some of the worst crimes imaginable just for using ai voices. On another note I also hate the fact that many american voice actors who are regulars in video games, cartoons, and anime like Grey are some of the most of mean-spirited and unhinged versions of the classic Rich Californian stereotype.

The guy 100% deserved the backlash, but Grey Delisle definitely should have handled this whole thing better. If he had already done the voices for Shaggy and Scooby then why use AI at all?
It is theft and literally stealing someone's voice. And when you say it's for a creative project on your own, sure, fine, but posting that kind of project no longer makes it personal.
I do hope the animator finds success and does better in the future and that Grey also treats fans a little kinder because the creator is young.
