I'm totally happy with the results on Berkeley 8lb monofilament fishing line in all my years of fishing I've never caught anything over 10lbs

What do you call that machine? I hope you could do more test comparisons to more known brands of today.

Wow, you're the man for sticking through it and testing literally all of these line strengths for this brand. Just out of curiosity, what will you do with all of that extra line? lol

The problems with these lines aren't the strength. That's gonna about the same as others. The problems are 1. Showing breaks in the line (those clear lines going across) 2. Stiffness. They don't sit on reels well nor do they cast well. 3. Discoloration after a few use.
To test them like this proves nothing. If you want a good line, it should be rated thinner, yet has a higher strength, which is the Tournament grade. Everything else is just same....the other things you should test for are abrasion resistance and suppleness for that excellent lay on the reel. A strong line is trash if it can't sit on your reel or whips the guides like Fluoro. Prove me wrong.

No, clearly the breaking strength isn't the same for all rated lines. Most people feel the cuts so that's moot. As to stiffness that's not much of an issue with the right equipment but can be with overly light terminal tackle/lures and people should use the right equipment which isn't really the line's fault. As to discoloration I cannot even countenance that one. Testing them like this proves exactly what he was looking to prove and no more. Sorry you don't get that. Testing for abrasion resistance and suppleness are different tests that you can easily do yourself and have been done to death such that any reputable manufacturer will tell you all about it. Consider yourself proven wrong just as a pretext to your actually understanding why my reply was appropriate.

I will be buying some trilene XL 6lb and testing it. This is just empirical science.
