"People may say I can't sing," she said, "but no one can ever say I didn't sing."
Puja Sharma this moment...i was crying
This brought tears to my eyes... What a statement... Hats off to her
Meryl Streep's ability to utterly transform herself, down to her voice and mannerisms, will never cease to amaze me.
Indeed. I loved her portrayal of Julia Child too. Meryl is just awesome!
She transforms into Conan O'Brien 5x per week.
Really
Ew
+Daniel Cant Paint shut up
She didn't have to fake the singing too much from what I've heard before.
It really intrigues me how much she changes in every role she plays. It's just beyond a good acting.
Coz she's a GOD!!!
+Alec Malfoy Goddess. ;)
She's a shape shifter. ha, ha.
chameleon
Yes. Her, Cate Blanchett & Rooney Mara are also good at that.
I'm so happy for Simon Helberg! He's so talented and deserves more recognition.
+Mark Rodriguez YES!! I LOVE HIM!
he is a great actor. he sure deserves
He has more talent in his little finger... no, all his fingers. He does play the piano himself in this movie. So talented in so many ways.
Simon is awesome. So glad to see he got this role.
I'm in love with his character in here... To bad he's not like that in real life nor is Cosme mcmoon in real life :( makes me super sad
Mom: "HOWIE, YOUR DINNER'S GETTIN COLD!
Howard: NOT NOW MA, I'M SINGING!
Mark e.g. smith Mom: "EXCUSE ME MISTA FANCY PANTS!"
his fruit loops are getting cold
XD
I totally read this in the actors voices 👀
"This is what we live for, isn't it? This... moment."
I'm a singer and I totally get that.
The trailer alone made me cry, I have a feeling that this movie will wreck me.
To whom it may concern, it did wreck me. Pretty good movie, with Meryl Streep being excellent as always. Florence had absolutely no chops for singing (specially the outstanding arias she dared to sing) but she had the passion. As she says herself in the movie "People may say I can't sing, but no one can ever say I didn't sing."
+Guilherme Eddino I'm going to see this today and I will cry
I saw your video and I think you're great! Wish you good luck man, you'll make it someday
True, that line is just beautiful. :)
Oh, yes, it will! I watched it yesterday, and was crying like a baby.
It's more of a drama with elements of farce than a tragicomedy.
It's more than a one joke film, there is also great comedic performance from Simon Helberg.
Hugh Grant was surprisingly good. I am always skeptical when it comes to him, but dayum, he and Meryl became such a great tandem!
Meryl Streep is truly amazing. So many actors in Hollywood can portray only a small variety of similar characters. But Meryl Streep is a chameleon, never the same person in any two given roles. Marvelous.
Although St Clair wasn't a typical partner/husband, I still loved how he has always tried to protect her from any form of negativity and how he actually cared for her. As always Meryl Streep was perfect, but the biggest surprise is definitely Hugh Grant who has shown how amazing he can be and he had a certain warmth in his eyes whenever he was talking or looking at Meryl/Florence. Truly convincible.
Finally Hugh Grant has to take care of a lady instead of ladies taking care of him.
yeah..tables have been turned in this movie..in a good way.
😆🤣😆🤣
Ahahahhahah this made my day 😆
@@freedalioness9510 Mine too!
People always talk about her methods but look past the emotions she puts into her characters. This movie was an absolute delight to watch because of her.
Brilliant acting! Seriously. They made me care so much for the character Florence in this movie up to the point that seeing her mocked and laughed at made me protective of her.
Before Miranda Sings, there was the incredible Florence Foster Jenkins!
this got me! i hate to admit that i was too late to watch this film
haha!
In the middle of the 90's, David Bowie was one of the first person who
talked about Florence Foster Jenkins (in interviews), and made her story more "popular" and well know.
This year, they discovered that her vinyl was still in Bowie's TOP 25 favourite records of all time ...
Looks like "The Man Who Fell To Earth" felt our future. And the circle of life goes on !
May they both rest easy. They have both become legends in their own right
As an amateur musician, just watching this trailer made me cry. Really, truly, the passion for it burns and can change your life.
I love Hugh Grant in this! He's so underrated
On what frigging planet is Hugh Grant underrated? Sheesh.
Christin Kolbeck
Yeah, he should do more different roles! And he should have won an academy award or at least be nominated
And understated in his performance which makes it great.
@@ColinZeal01 i think they mean as a serious dramatic actor.
@@elizabethlinsay9193 Grant has always been a good dramatic actor. I think Maurice is at the top as his best role which was also his first proper movie role.
I cried so much in this, Meryl Streep is remarkable
She really does deserve every award. I saw this movie and was amazed how she was able to play the part singing such bad notes. And her performance in Julie & Julia - I grew up watching the real Julia Child Cooking program and she acted and sounded just like her - totally amazing. You may not like her but she is gifted for sure.
Another Academy Awards slot taken this year by the great Meryl Streep !!!
+Calvin Nguyen Sunny?
This looks like it'll give me a fuzzy warm feeling. I haven't had that vibe from a new movie in a while.
+Anna B. Then watch Inglorious Basterds, Christopher Hitchens described watching it as 'sitting in the dark having a great pot of warm piss emptied very slowly over your head'.
Just saw it, god damm was it good.
No joke I was in tears at the end of it. Love it SO MUCH
This movie broke my heart. Florence Foster Jenkins is my spirit animal.
Its kinda sad how everyone just uses her for her money, and she genuinely thinks she can sing. Shame how she was manipulated by everyone during her life, even sadder is that it's real.
@@avasti3866 well...SHE thought she could sing. SHE invited people to share in her joy. She know what people thought of her. She knew her husband had his own life. None of that mattered. She tried to find joy and love where she could. Maybe others saw her as a victim, but I doubt she saw herself that way.
@@Simone-jg8lp "they can say I can't sing, but they can't say I didnt sing" atleast she achieved her dream, but I think the ending was changed from real life, it seems a bit too dramatic for her to convinietly find those people, then the newspaper. I also don't think anyone defended her at the concert also seems a little dramatic. But I like to think she was happy by the end
Mrs. Forence Foster Jenkins lived a 'larger than life' way and certainly deserves the BIG screen! five star performances from both Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant.
what makes Miss Streep so great is the fact that she has the unique talent to see and feel the soul of the person that she is playing...she can identify with the human condition, the human soul for what it is. I admire such a talent...because, she shows us we are are not so different--- that-- as she once said, and I paraphrase, we have the germ of everyone inside of us. Thank you Miss Streep....Thank you for helping us to look at ourselves with your incredible talent..your art continues to make us better human beings. Love ya!!!
what else can't this woman act. my god she's amazing !
This is truly one of the best films I’ve ever watched! Meryl is just phenomenal
As much as I laughed to Meryl streep's voice in this movie, as much as I enjoyed watching this unique actress at one of her greatest performances. She is simply Sensational.
Priceless. Another Meryl Streep powerhouse performance.
Wolowitz cracks me up everytime i see his face
And the Oscar goes to...
JOHNNNN CEEEEeeeeeNAAAAaaaa
+Sher Shah. shut up kid
+Sher Shah Catherine Frot!
True, this one seems corny, Marguerite was almost like been in a dream, but of course no oscar for frenchy flicks, lol.
Dat ass
Such a beautifully sweet and uplifting movie. I want to see it.
the local movie theater in my town is playing this tonight and donating all proceeds to their arts center. such a noble and amazing cause. looks like a great film. how can anyone refuse Meryl?!
Finally a different role for Hugh Grant that always plays the same character over and over again
means he’s a movie star…not a true actor
Hugh Grant is 55, meanwhile Meryl Streep is 66...the ages look reversed lol
I never liked Hugh Grant when he was younger, but he is absolutely perfect in this role. Bravo Hugh Grant!
For me she could play Taylor Swift, I'd believe her.
i hear another oscar nomination :D love meryl
Oh yes she has to have another Oscar!!!! But I guess they won't be giving it to her since she's already got three... Sadly, that's how they work..
+Alec Malfoy exactly ....hope they ll atleast nominate her. i think she dis great in ricki n the flash n suffragette but didnt get nominated .uh
+Alec Malfoy Katherine Hepburn got 4, so it's not impossible for Meryl to get another Oscar- and this performance is a real contender unlike her previous ones (not that she shouldn't have been nominated, she definitely deserved the nominations but her competition was too tough)
+Eva Ukman that's probably the reason why she won't get her fourth. the academy wouldn't want to give Katharine Hepburn a run for her money.
+lithium not necessarily, since it took 29 years for Meryl to get a third Oscar, they probably don't want her to have to wait so long for a fourth. Someone has to catch up to Katherine Hepburn, and if anyone can its Meryl- though she probably deserved to a long time ago
This may get Hugh Grant an Oscar Nomination and The Piano Player an Oscar Nomination Too. Meryl Streep is next to Cate Blanchett one of The World's Greatest Acting Treasures.
I agree about Hugh Grant's nomination--I thought he was wonderful in this movie. I know everyone loves Meryl Streep and she's great in general, but I didn't think she was Oscar-worthy.
I agree. I know it's shocking (almost heresy) to say that Meryl isn't the greatest ever, but she uses too much method acting and not enough of her natural self. With a few exceptions, of course (she was superb in The River Wild).
yeah i don't care, i'm so watching this movie
Same
+Immanuel-Rabbouni The King of Salvation been waiting for this since the Graham Norton interview!
I play FFJ in the background any time the wife has someone especially atrocious "singing" on "American Idol," but geez, I want to see this movie, too.
HOWARD! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE *Howard's mom's voice*
Watched this with my late, wonderful Mum. She loved it, laughed and was moved all the way through.
One of my favorite scenes is during that first concert in the film, when Augustus Corbin (David Mills) is trying so hard to stifle his laughter!!! It was hilarious and so adorable!!!
Hugh Grant ... Oscar deserved
So... Meryl being in it is enough for me to watch. She makes me cry even on the trailers
Damn Meryl is pulling off some performance here
I LOVE this movie!! I went to see it 4 1/2 times! It really needs to take home all the Oscars. The cast was amazing, and the soundtrack by awesome Alexandre Desplat was beautiful!!!
I know what you mean. I saw it 4 times in 48 hours and want to see it again!!!
i saw this movie today. this lady had a special guardian angel in her life. it is a lovely and simple movie. a very touching story. all the actors are wonderful. The part where she plays the piano brought tears to my eyes. Hugh Grant was absolutely wonderful. I think Meryl had competition in this movie. Go see it.
PS: Absolutely LOVE the crown of stars she wore. Meryl wore it with great panache. I hope Meryl got to keep it and wear it at every opportunity.
Just hand her the oscar lol
Meryl streep she is amazing actress.i love her so much.
This is a stunningly sad and beautifully portrayed film by the superb Meryl Streep . How humiliated she must of felt and that last death bed song is so touching .... brilliant
lol a late 19th century Miranda Sings xd
Yes!!!! LMAO
what's xd? Why are you riting xd after Miranda's name? You're a hater! SO BACK OFF!! (JK)
+Smarajit Chakraborty i cant wait for colleen to react to this movie… or miranda hahahaha
I was just thinking that Miranda should react to this. When I discovered Miranda, I actually thought "Oh, she's like an Internet Florence Foster Jenkins, okay."
It's early 20th century actually....
A bitter sweet story, Loved it. Mr Moon stole the show.
Stephen Frears is known to direct great thespians in finely calibrated movies from Helen Mirren to Judi Dench.... I just know this also won't be an exception...
Did I just see the entire movie summarized?
Pretty much.
that's why i always, always pause it after the first section of the trailer, basically when the music changes 1-2 times (halfway in..)
Wow, I gotta say this a wonderful movie. I thought it was a comedy at first, but it evolved into so much more.
At 1:25 I was sure he was going to say "I lost my left leg at Guadalcanal, but THIS WAS WORSE!"
Simon Helberg is the most underrated actor and he has my heart. I would really love to meet him someday for sure. ❤️
From a mean narcissist workaholic business woman to a lovely old lady who thinks she is the next Maria Callas. Meryl Streep can do everything, and right! What a talent!!
And the oscar goes to... Simon Helberg !!!
I agree!!!
hello wolowitz
I loved this movie. Not everyone will adore this but it will become a cult classic.
I. Cannot. Wait! She is one of my all time favorite people from history being portrayed by one of my all time favorite actors : ) SO EXCITED!
Definitely, one of the best trailer I've seen today.
the best movie ever! I don't know who is a genius here, Meryl or Simon Helberg. They are both so sweet and funny, I couldn't stop laughing at them both
My girlfriend and I saw this movie and enjoyed it. I told her that this was time where they could've used Simon Cowell. He would've told Florence right away without hesitation that she was awful and that made my girlfriend laugh.
Anna Russell once said that Florence Foster Jenkins had one good note in the vocal range: e above high-c. Bravo, Meryl. Only you could carry this off. We can't wait to see the film.
Is there any better actress than Meryl Streep? She just moved to me: I´m afraid!
One of her best performances ever!
I can't wait for this movie! I've been a FFJ fan since the early 1950's when I was introduced to her legendary voice by Maura K. Wedge-Who starred with Richard Kiley in "Man of La Mancha". Meryl Streep is perfect for this role.
I got goosebumps after 30 seconds of this trailer...
A living legend. I totally love her!
she is so perfect 😍. THE BEST ACTRESS IN THE WHOLE WILD WORLD 👌👌
After Carnegie Hall, Florence gave up singing and decided to be the editor of a fashion magazine.
+da96103 is that true?
Umais Siraj
It must be true if I get +4 for my comment.
hahahaha shit I got it!!
+Umais Siraj actually died from a heart attack 2 days later...
I know this comment is 4 years late, lol, but I believe that fashion magazine was called Runway?
Already smiling. Can't wait!
I cried my eyes out at the end. She did sing.
Wow! I like retro style anything! I'm watching this movie!😋😋😋😋
I heard some actual 78's of her @ 1960. I can attest to the fact that the voice in the trailer is much better than the actual Florence Foster Jenkins on those records. I believe there are places online that have some of the actual recordings that I had heard. That there is a movie about this amazes me but then at this stage of American culture not much amazes me anymore. :)
I love all things Meryl she did such a good job with this role. She made the real person being depicted come to life for me.
And it was hilarious!
Another blow to the belief that perfection is all that really has value! 👍
Florence Foster Jenkins is one of my favorite figures in Pop Culture, it's about time she had wider exposure. And there's nobody better to portray her.
Streep and Grant😍😍
What a wonderful movie, and Meryl is a goddess as always! I can't understand how she didn't receive this year's Oscar and how Simon didn't get nomination for his role? U must watch it!
Meryl Streep is such a wonderful actress.
just watched this... it was simply amazing.
Wow, that was a great trailer! Reminds me of the 90's comedy-dramas like Mrs. Doubtfire.
Just saw this. Its now in my top 10 movies of all time. Loved it!!!
This trailer deserves an Oscar.
Such a heartwarming film. I laughed but then cried. Good work.
saw Meryl.... CLICKED!!
+Alec Malfoy Oh my god your profile pic...
curtainofdreams THIS IS AWESOME!!! this never happened to me before!!!!
+Alec Malfoy I freaked out when I saw the same pic! So cool!
I love this film so much you guys😭
She should have won oscar number 4 for this role
Nice job Howard 👍
one of the most beautiful movie I'd ever seen..perfect!!
So Wolowitz is talented as well 😂😂
I watched this movie and all the three were fantastic: Meryl, Hugh, and Simon.
Omg she’s amazing and this movie just gets me in every way
It's a really lovely film.. very touching
I cannot wait to see this movie.
Amazing movie!!!! One of my favourites now!
Hugh Grand became so old since i ve seen him last time
+Кунг-Фу Падла It happens.
I saw this as a trailer before watching Ghostbusters and I was shocked at myself. I've never cried in things like these, especially a trailer. I've never related to a movie as much as this and I can't wait to see it myself :)
just saw it..HILARIOUS!!!!!SOOO GOOD MOVIE!!!EXCELENTE PELICULA, VAYAN A VERLA,PORFAVOR,NO PARAS DE REIR
Just saw the movie. No words. No words!
Please Meryl Streep stay with us forever so we may continue seeing your brilliant work
