      Thanks Andy. Hope you do get to it. The history is quite heavy, but what a country! I also can't wait to travel again though not sure if my trip to the UK and Europe in summer is going to happen this year 😃

    These views are always worth the hike, and parks like Sujeska are definitely what we are looking for. And agree that the way down is usually trickier than the way up! But again, these views.... Bosnia & Herzegovina seems to be a hiker paradise!

    • @XennialTraveller
      @XennialTraveller  4 года назад +2

      For sure!! Sutjeska NP is absolutely great for hiking. You have to be careful if you go not to go off the main trails, in case of unexploded land mines, but so worth it to see the scenery. Thanks for watching!

    • @Zewanderingfrogs
      @Zewanderingfrogs 4 года назад +1

      @@XennialTraveller Good to know about the land mines. We do usually like to go off-trails (when it's not impacting the local fauna or adding to the erosion) but we would surely keep that in mind there!

    Really fantastic shots, but oh man that climb back down on the cables looked, uh, less than fun. lol Thanks for sharing your journey! 👍 -Howard

      Hey Howard! The climb down was ok, in hindsight. Would have been way worse without cables and/or if it were any wet. All worth it though. Thanks for watching 😃

      Oh, for sure it was worth it... Though everytime I go hiking with my video gear my companions look at me like I'm crazy lugging all that stuff around up mountains... Thanks for watching :D

    Perucica looks so magical - looks like an enchanted forrest! And what a cute puppy along the hike LOL.
    The 4EUR cabin with cabbages sound like a great deal, if you are hiking around! What a beautiful lake view, and cool waterfalls - thanks for sharing, Matt!

      Enchanted is right! Although, when the mist and dark comes in, I think it's quite scary... like the Blair Witch Project 😳 Thanks for watching, guys. Hope you're staying healthy and safe. Where in the world are you these days?

    What an awesome shot at 0:55! (We thought all this time we were subscribed, doh! Now we are 😎) Who are your hiking buddies? Perfect time for rakia, of course! LOL April wouldn't want to sleep with the cabbage...she has bad memories of cabbage, hahaha. Yay for Montenegro! Was that giant mushroom edible?? Amazing view of the lake from Maglic! OMG, April would definitely be doing your bum slide technique! Pretty waterfall. One thing we wished we had done in B & H is hike, but the weather wasn't ideal. Great video!

    • @XennialTraveller
      @XennialTraveller  4 года назад +2

      I was really lucky with the weather! From memory only had one day when it properly rained, and even the first day of hiking turned out to be good enough. The two hiking buddies were from Macedonia - and thankfully they helped me translate since the guide doesn't speak English. The giant mushroom was indeed edible - looked quite like the ones they grill and eat in Japan and Taiwan. :D Thanks for watching - I can't quite get videos out as regularly as you guys, but hopefully they're worth the wait in between each of them :)

    • @GoTravelOnTheCheap
      @GoTravelOnTheCheap 4 года назад +1

      Cool, how did you meet said hiking buddies? Wow, we would love to grill that up and eat it! They are worth the wait. ;-) We wish we were busier with our jobs, but alas, cannot be right now...so we work for free "for" RUclips 😆

    Man this reminded me of my hikes in Montenegro. The area is so beautiful and underrated. Only I didn't get a kitty with my stay. Thanks btw for putting the Mario tune in there, that is in my head now.

    • @XennialTraveller
      @XennialTraveller  4 года назад +1

      Totally underrated! I didn't even know how it would look until I got there and saw for myself since there's very very little information online. And the lake part was actually in Montenegro, so no wonder. I can recommend some mushrooms and flowers to accompany the Mario theme tune 😉

    This was such a relaxing video to watch!! *Until the climb down 0.0 haha* The heart shaped pond was so lovely, and the hike to the top was well worth it! Gorgeous views and greenery. Great video!

    That's an incredible view of the lake and the surrounding from the top! Omg that's 7:10 is not what I'm expecting haha! NOPE, I'm not gonna climb that! You don't even look tired at all haha! Whoaaa that waterfall! Thanks for the lovely video!

    • @XennialTraveller
      @XennialTraveller  4 года назад

      Oh, trust me... I was tired! But the breathtaking views refreshed me along the way, so I pushed on. Thank you so much for watching. Hope you guys are doing good in this lockdown world. I guess you can't visit all your favourite/new food places at this time?

  • @KitatheExplorer

    There is nothing like hiking and being one with nature. So wait while you were in the forest, you had to cross into Montenegro? And the waterfall was still gorgeous far away. I wonder how it looks up close!

    • @XennialTraveller
      @XennialTraveller  4 года назад +1

      I totally agree. Despite living in a big city (Hong Kong), I still feel most at home when I'm surrounded by nature. Montenegro - yeah! They didn't tell me before hand, but that reminds us that the natural world has no borders. Our guide showed us a photo of the waterfall frozen in winter - now THAT was magical. Thanks so much for watching 😃

    We loved everything with this video! Nice mix of talk and beautiful scenery footage. We have never been to Bosnia & Herzegovina or Montenegro. The landscape is so beautiful it's almost unreal! The view over the lake, the view from the top, and also the waterfall view are breathtaking. Haha, loved that you had Mario music on top of the mushroom scene. And what more can you wish for, a cute house with cabbage and kitten? Love it!

      I had such an amazing time in Bosnia & Herzegovina - and this really was the cherry on top. It took me aaaages to edit this video (plus a lot of procrastination), but I'm really happy it did the place justice. Thank you so much - and hope you guys are keeping safe and sane 😃

    Nice, I like the forest and mountain area. I've never been to a forest where you can walk safe. Looks like a setting in the Witcher.

    • @XennialTraveller
      @XennialTraveller  4 года назад +1

      Oooh, The Witcher is a good one. I was thinking The Blair With Project 😂 Actually, probably not that safe to wander around by yourself... there are bears and wolves, and probably some landmines if you go wandering off the path.

  • @GoYvon

    What a beautiful park is that! Too bad you didn't fly your drone over the lake longer, it looked so pretty when it went up. The hike up the mountain looked intense, not sure if I could've done that. How long did it take?

    • @XennialTraveller
      @XennialTraveller  4 года назад +1

      The hike up took us something like 4 1/2 hours up, and then just under 4 down (I think). It was pretty intense because for a lot of it it just keeps going up up up. Good workout for the legs 😃 I actually did fly my drone more, but the lake is so much bigger than it looks, so I needed to fly really high up / far before you can see the shape. So some of the other footage wasn't as impressive. Thanks for watching!

    Awesome video. The cinemotgraphy was spot on. Loved the different shots of him pouring coffee. Made me want to go there. There were a few times it would've helped if you left it on the screen longer. i.e. the map and the definition.

    • @XennialTraveller
      @XennialTraveller  4 года назад

      Thanks Daniel! Good points on the feedback... I was 50-50 on whether to leave those a bit longer, but they were last minute additions after I had edited everything to music so didn't want to move things around. Will bear in mind for next time!

    I tried this rakia drink before, I worked with a Serbian guy in China and he had some, powerful stuff. Do you use a gimbal? Really good footage when you are walking around, 0 shake. Spectacular views, this is my idea of hiking!

    • @XennialTraveller
      @XennialTraveller  4 года назад +2

      Oh Rakia / Rakija / Slivovice / Palinka / Grappa.... Most of it is home brew, most quite potent. And yeah, I use a DJI Ronin-SC. Definitely still some shake since it was my first trip with the gimbal, but getting better with practice. But good to know I managed to make it look smooth ;) Hopefully you get to go on some good hikes soon!!

    • @XennialTraveller

      I was there in September and the weather was perfect!! Of course up in the mountains it was a little cooler, especailly at night - but the log fire in the place I stayed was perfect for that.

    Wow guys!!! You are pretty adventurous!!! I loved the view from the top!!!
    I have never been to Bosnia and Herzegovina... I had no idea it was so rich in nature terms...
    I loved the quality of your images. Can I ask you which camera do you use?

    • @XennialTraveller
      @XennialTraveller  4 года назад

      Thank you for the great compliments! 😃 I use a Sony A7III mainly, but also use a GoPro 7 for some of it. I was a bit adventurous before, but since vlogging I've definitely pushed myself to go more and more adventurous. Glad you enjoyed it! What camera do you use?

    when Serbs put the serbian flag on BOSNIAs highest peak just shows how sick those people are and obsessed with their nationalism. Long live Bosnia!!

    • @libertas5005
      @libertas5005 Год назад

      I was gonna say the same thing. I bet if any Bosnian hikers went up there and left the Bosnian flag, some nationalist shithead would come and take it down in favor of their made-up separatist nation.
