Great video. You have fantastic taste and this is really a service.. not nearly enough in depth videos of these nice jackets with people like you that saved and bought them. It’s AI or nothing.
So thank you! I want an Arc’Teryx hard shell. I take very good care of my stuff so seems like a solid investment. These videos really help.

Thank you, they are expensive, but they will last a long time, many years.

IMO you missed the critical reason to use a softshell over a hard shell - breathability! I often choose to wear a softshell instead of my hardshell as I am happy to trade off some weather protection for better breathability. I have several but my most used softshells are Arc Proton FL and Arc Psiphon.

I know what you are saying, I agree. I do mention briefly about the importance of breathability in the beginning of the video, (just before the 4:00 mark), but you're right, I could have talked more about it. I guess that I was just focused on the different varieties.

Are they getting rid of 'LT' or 'AR' naming from their product lines? I feel like now their jackets are named as 'Lightweight' or 'Heavyweight' instead of 'LT' or 'AR'. Are there really noticeable differences or is it just a marketing gimmick? More importantly, is it worthing getting the 'NEW' ones?

They are changing the names. Maybe because a lot of people did not know what all the AR, LT, SL, FL, etc. stood for. The product is the same, just the name has changed.

Is there a good softshell options from Arc’teryx that would fit well over the cerium hoody to offer rain protection yet still be breathable?

You're probably looking at a beta hardshell. They are going to be the most waterproof, and they do have some breathability. I have the beta LT, an older model, but it is great to have in the rain. It also has a trimmer fit, so it will fit nicely over a cerium .

Still use the Gamma MX? I have a couple of those... the Sawyer is similar?

The Gamma MX was one of my favorite softshells to wear over my Atom LT or Proton LT, I still like it, but the Sawyer has become my favorite. I like the outer material and the smaller hood on the Sawyer better. Also, the inside backing feels softer than the Gamma MX's. I still like and use the Gamma, but I find myself grabbing the Sawyer more often.
