- Nellikai sambar [Amla sambar] is simple & healthy side dish for rice, millets, idli, dosa, paper roast, uthappam, pongal or upma. Preparation method:-Boil toor dal with turmeric & sesame oil. Heat 1.5 tbsp oil in a pan add mustard, chana dal, urad dal, hing, fenugreek powder, saute. Add curry leaevs, onion & garlic saute till soft. Add tomato, gooseberry, turmeric, red chilli powder & water cook till soft. Roast chana dal, urad dal, coriander, cumin, pepper, dry red chilli, then grind to smooth paste. Add ground mixture, toor dal, salt cook for 5 min. Add jaggery cook for 3 min. Add coriander, cut of heat.
