Yeah, same here, comin up we couldn't wait to get those privileges. However, what we failed 2 realize is w/those privileges came huge responsibilities.
This song always hits me hard. It really puts things into perspective. I wish I could travel back in time and tell my younger self to take a million pictures, talk to that girl you were always too nervous to talk to, take school more serious, etc. that list can go on and on. But if nothing else, I cherish those past experiences, because childhood was so damn fun and it goes by so damn quick.
Dude you aint lying. I would go back to hug my parents and brother again, I would listen to my grandaps stories about WW2, I would learn from my mistakes so I wouldn't make them again.

@JunkerDriver999 when I was young I was just like Ahmad I wanted to get older but realized when I graduated in 07 the nostalgia grew back on me real quick especially from when I was a baby from 2 in 92 all the way till my 3rd grade year in 98 😪don't know about you mane but when I hear real old stuff from my preschool years and kindergarten I start shedding tears real talk just wanna live that life again was so much simpler back than before my mom started having health problems dealing with family and friends who act funny
I sent the lyrics to my cousin and decided to come listen. I haven’t heard the song in YEARS and I just cried cause it took me back. I can see my sister and cousins laughing being carefree at grandmas house, making up dance routines with my friends, school, just everything during those amazing years! Take me back, my mom grandma and grandad was there we were happy. I lost so many friends, family and even my kids, I wish I could go back!
I was born in 2005 and tbh I'm not fucking with some of the new artists rn, looking back at these oldies, liking them so far, you got any recommendations?

This song hits hard because in 1985 I was 10. Everything Ahmad said was true, especially in 87' and 88', it was "all the way live" hanging out with my crew of nappy heads at Lufkin Junior High West. Some have left this Earth, but our memories still live on for us that are still here. Life is so funny, RIP Cohee!

I was blessed to grow up in the 90’s as a kid, the memories could bring tears to my eyes if i sit and just reminisce long enough, but i try not to live in the the past, but when classics like this come on its ok to hop in that mental time machine and just live in the memories for a moment, its a rollercoaster of emotions on that trip but they are there to be cherished because thats all you have left from those times, peace to everyone that was a kid growing up in the 90’s, we were the last of the golden era✊🏾
Fuck yeah born in 84 raised in the late 80s and the 90s loved the 90s everyone came together back then and everyone was cool with everyone if they wasn't it wasn't because of color it was because you were a dickhead or some shit like that when i became a father in 03 I tried raising my kids old school like we was raised and its been a Hell of a ride since back in the days but I wouldn't change a thing.
Well said & it's sad because it's harder to make those epic moments today when back then it happened every weekend house parties BBQ's ETC cheers to a Golden error of love and music
I remember listening to this when I was seventeen wishing I was a kid again. Now I listen to it and wish I was seventeen again. I would give anything to go back to the ‘90s. This is one of those songs that makes you sad and nostalgic every time you listen to it. For a split second I am almost back to that time but then I realize I am stuck in this current shithole of a place. 🥴
Remember back before game systems needed a memory card to save game. You always had to carry change in your pockets to use the pay phone. Always make sure you had pen and paper for digits. Walkman was hot. Beepers. Two bags of chips for 50 cent. Before cameras was on every block. Police wore light blue shirts. Before HD was a thing. Skateboards, cars and bicycle weren't electric. I'm from NYC but missed the old days. Alot of ppl today wouldn't know what to do in the 90's.
Listening to this song will make you cry and think about all good and bad times you had when growing up, man times was so much simpler. Nothing will ever compare to the 90’s and 00’s 🙌🏾🙏🏾.. Thank GOD for them great decades. Still listening to this in 2022
I used to always sing this song when i was a kid not even understanding the lyrics. Now that I’ve entered adulthood this song has a way different impact on me. Take me back to my childhood...
Yes I partially agree, cause I grew up the same way, loving this song, singing it all the time. I recorded it on a cassette tape from power 106 FM radio in LA, CA . This song helped me learn early that you have to cherish the moment you are in. I’m still taking in every moment, but that sure as hell doesn’t help any better with the yearning to re-experience our golden era.. to “wake up and smell the 90’s!” - only if we could go back 🤦

I'm not really in to hip hop but I ran in to this Ahmad dude, and have to say he nailed it. Had me going back to the 70's I'm 60 years now. I'm putting this on my play list 🤪
I was born in Jan of 1975. I relate to this jam and exactly what Ahmad is rapping about. Growing up as a Mexican kid out of Chicago. Playing with some kids in da hood, sad that a lot of da kids that i grew up with, are now in a better place. Da 80s & 90s was favorite era's.

I just started singing this song out of the blue and it's 2023 🤣. This go hard even in 2023 🔥🔥 TIMELESS!!! I know I'm not the only wish to go in a time machine to go back to 80's or the 90's for sure... This STILL A BOP 🔥🔥
Now that’s the right direction my man. Real men fall on their knees and pray. Trust in God and know God. If u want some good hip hop search “the cross movement spare rituals”
The 90’s was so diverse musically! I think that’s why it will always be special and unique compared to any other era! Those of us that grew up to music like this was very fortunate to experience hip hop that was real and timeless! 💯
Samples were the thing back then. Seems like damn near every song that came on the radio was a sample and my dad made sure to let me know it was a sample from his era 😂. The best time of my life.
Rule #1 spit real lyrics about real everyday life Rule #2 use a funky ass beat or savage sample Rule #3 make music for the kids, teens, adults, and grown folks together
I was born in 70. A white boy into 70s rock and Soul music then 80s Rock and Metal. 90s came around and got into Grunge but lost interest and started listening to 90s Rap. I must say these songs bring back great memories being in my 20s and loving these songs still do. 🖤💯
Mannnnnn. Sometimes an artist only needs to make one song to be considered timeless. Ahmad did that. Got me all the way in my feels. Miss the 90s badly. I'd even settle going back to the 2000s lol.
I was in the 10th grade when this came out. Every word of it is the absolute truth. It always takes me back to the days I was doing the same exact shit. Being a kid, doing kid shit at the same time trying to be a grown up not realizing how precious the days of our youth really were. I tell my Daughter all the time that being an adult sucks at times and there's days I wish I could just be a kid again and have the kind of energy you only have when you are young and care free .Music is always better when it comes from the heart and soul.
I'm watching this in the 2nd quarter of 2024 and it's the 1st time I've done so in well over a decade. I understood the song's meaning when Ahmad dropped it, but it's one of those songs that hit differently after you grow up. How could you not get nostalgic while listening to this track?
I was on the semi at 11 yrs old with my dad and step mom. They had to pic up a load of croutons from a factory deep in L.A. I could get all kinds of rap stations that day!!!! This song forever stuck in my head. Yes, it came back with me to Oklahoma. I have introduced it to my teen. Yeppers!!
This song is way underrated! Potential top 10 of all time. Everytime I hear it, I'm transported back to the early 90,s waiting to hear the radio DJ coming in with the "Pa Pa Pa Power 98"
God, just a beat on this and then establish this man. Something sparked me to come back and look at this song. Listen to it, I'll be 44 on September 12th. D*** I missed my childhood.
I'm 41 and I wish I could go back to them day's 😢 man it hurts that we cant even go back for a day to revisit our past. I have my memories though but this song hurts to listen to because it takes me to far back to them projects day's down in Dallas Texas growing up in Bonton and Turners Court's 007 and 232. This BEAR from Turners Court's Project's to all my real niggas and females who know me much love to U. I remember though.
“I can’t wait to grow up” was one of the most regrettable sentence to ever say...and I’m guilty of it :(
I remember the time, moment, street I was in 4th grade walking thru a middle saying I can’t wait to be 18 😩😩😩…. 2021- 42 got here so quick
I think We all are........

Samples were the thing back then. Seems like damn near every song that came on the radio was a sample and my dad made sure to let me know it was a sample from his era 😂. The best time of my life.
90's rap rules 🎧👊
It sure does...that's why it's the only music that I make👍🏾🎤🎧
Yeah bro,90s rappers came, saw and conquered.they raised the bar, and broke it.no bar to raise again.
The best. Peaked.
Rule #1 spit real lyrics about real everyday life
Rule #2 use a funky ass beat or savage sample
Rule #3 make music for the kids, teens, adults, and grown folks together
He deserves a GRAMMY for this song yallll!!! This song is the greatest ❤
This should be in the top-10 best Rap Songs ever made!
This song is timeless!
I was born in 70. A white boy into 70s rock and Soul music then 80s Rock and Metal. 90s came around and got into Grunge but lost interest and started listening to 90s Rap. I must say these songs bring back great memories being in my 20s and loving these songs still do. 🖤💯
Man" this song hurts so much. I'm in my early 50s now. Most of my favorite rap artists are now old or passed away. This song is now 30 years old.
The greatest sample song of all time
Mannnnnn. Sometimes an artist only needs to make one song to be considered timeless. Ahmad did that. Got me all the way in my feels. Miss the 90s badly. I'd even settle going back to the 2000s lol.
Ahmad Lewis was my guy!! Went to Palisades high with him and we was friends....hope he is doing well. Once a friend always a friend!!
I miss the 80’s and 90’s….young, wild and didn’t give af
Such a smooth beat… great lyrics…

I'm still a toys r us kid
This song makes my heart hurt with all the memories 😢😢😢
This takes me back to summer 1994 when I was an exchange student in California. So many memories - thanks for the upload.
Summer of 1994 I was born
I was in the 10th grade when this came out. Every word of it is the absolute truth. It always takes me back to the days I was doing the same exact shit. Being a kid, doing kid shit at the same time trying to be a grown up not realizing how precious the days of our youth really were. I tell my Daughter all the time that being an adult sucks at times and there's days I wish I could just be a kid again and have the kind of energy you only have when you are young and care free .Music is always better when it comes from the heart and soul.
This shit make me wanna cry. Big up to you and your family OG 🫡
Yeppers!!
I remember being a kid hearing this song, and feeling lucky to be a kid.
This song is way underrated! Potential top 10 of all time. Everytime I hear it, I'm transported back to the early 90,s waiting to hear the radio DJ coming in with the "Pa Pa Pa Power 98"
Man........ I needed this today
I treasure the memories I have growing up in the 90’s.
MY GOD, DO I FEEL YOUR PAIN. I LOVED THE 90's
Music like this is gold man this era of kids will never be able to enjoy a song on this level❤️💯
