This album is like having a really warm and hopeful dream, then waking up determined to go on. Love love love this one, one of Bladee's best for sure.

you can’t make someone like bladee. it’s something you have to understand, a feeling you have to feel that not everyone is gonna feel.
Fantano, you point out the fact that bladee’s singing is flat and comes off as lacklustre and understated. You also said that you felt the singing sometimes felt like an AI trying to get in touch with their emotions. Do you not think that’s an interesting stylistic choice and adds to the overall experience of the music? I think that’s partly what so many drainers like about Bladee’s voice. The way his music; disassociated, bleak, ethereal, futuristic and sometimes playful and fun sounds is how many people who suffer from forms of depression, anxiety, disassociation, loneliness, low self-esteem and other afflictions feel and perceive things, and his goofy dystopian wordplay and imperfect delivery over dreamy, ethereal tracks provide a form of escapism and that is a big factor in what people like about his music.

i don't like when you say the vocals stinks because, like in painting, the artist has chosen through time to refine some aspects and discard others. Bladee uses his voice in a way that is for sure unique and i think this is a big value for his character and the feelings the songs delivers
Fancesco Bonfatti i’m saying. you can’t use the same formula to judge completely different artists for every review. he uses the same basis to review ppl ranging from Lana Del Ray, Korn, to Bladee. They are all making different music and i think he’s kind of blind to that

It’s really awesome to see the collective evolve into a more full blown art pop sound with this album, E, and even the new Lean single. This tape felt more like a step in that direction and something to hold over fans until the next big project, which I’m very excited to hear

i find it kinda funny that you can't stand bladee's vocals when you've highly praised farrah abraham's "my teenage dream ended" even going as far as naming it #200 on your albums of the decade list. i know they're two very different albums and the quality of the album is attributed a lot to the context the album was recorded in but i think the case could be made that if you enjoy listening to that album there should be no reason you can't at least tolerate the amateur qualities in bladee's vocals and how they kinda serve the production aesthetics

Melon, there is a fundamental misconception between you and Drain fans when you keep critiquing mainly the vocals. They're literally the aspect of Bladee that make him unique and liked by his fans. It just seems like you're not ready to get drained

This album is in my top 5 favorite listens at the moment and I identify with it so well. Bladee's not trying to be a great singer, but in that way, he is a great singer. I thought the songwriting was very good, making use of these hazed-out vocals very well, and the instrumentals and beats are very creative. I think that's the word I want to use for this record. Creative. Minimalist. And charming to the point of euphoria.

Idgi does Fartano know that Bladee isn't going for a vocal sound that makes sense, or that's supposed to sound normal...? The overuse of melodic auto-tune vocals ( an extension of the instrumentals ) and the abstract lyricism is literally the entire point of Drain Gang and Sad Boys. Why would they want to sound like normal rappers/artists when they literally have a genre they made from the ground up. When I first listened to Yung Lean and Drain Gang, I wanted to understand them immediately because they sounded so different. You have to embrace what doesn't sound right.

When one looks at things critically, they start to make no sense. How about just take a listen to the songs calm down your mind and feel the vocals and instrumentals jiving together. Drain gang's songs don't need too much critical listening. But I guess that's what music critiques do.
