Introduction to Geosynthetics: Geotextile, Geogrids, Geonets, Geomembranes, Geocomposites

Geosynthetics play important roe in engineering design. Geosynthetics include geotextiles (nonwoven 0:17 and woven 0:44) that typically serve for the separation of coarse-grained and fine-grained materials or rock pieces. Geogrids consist of mesh that provides additional tensile strength in uniaxial (01:44), biaxial (01:57), and triaxial (02:53) directions. Geomembranes (03:17), low-permeability material, control the fluid migration as a barrier or liner. Geocomposites include a combination of geomaterials to perform specific functions more effectively than when used separately (04:33).Prefabricated vertical drains (05:00) are commonly used for soft soil consolidation to speed up the consolidation process. #education #engineering #geosynthetics
