❓What is the folding lock and unlock for? (item # 07 in the user manual). It doesn’t seem to “lock or unlock” anything.

Basically just tracks the best face. When Mia and I were both in front of it, it mostly tracked her, as face recognition doesn’t like my lack of hair most of the time.

Ok thanks so much for a smart review, so helpful. I just ordered one.. My question is are you able to use the remote control from the Hohem X2 Gimbal? and if so why can't I see where to buy the remote. I mean what if I lost my remote, are replacements out there for sale?

Thanks for the review. I don't own a gimbal and looking into buying one. I want the gimbal to stabilise my phone while live streaming using zoom or teams app to showcase the house. Is it possible ? Using zoom or teams app while the gimbal app is stabilising the phone when I'm moving around showing the house with the rear camera of the phone and I'm not in the live streaming to be focus.
Yeah most gimbals can do that for you. They usually only require using their own gimbal app for initial setup, then after that will work while you’re using whatever app you like.
@@WesPerry Thanks. I was at a gimbal store and they told me that gimbals need to use their own app thus thought this gimbal has a separate AI tracking device might be good.
I got the iSteady X2 a few days ago for $70. It's a hell of a deal but I'm thinking to return it because of the bad video quality from the Hohem app. I took it to downtown Dallas for some test shoots and the video was very desaturated and flat. Only after color correcting the video was I happy. I see the V2 is on sale for $110. Do you think it's worth the extra $40? I also noticed that it does not come with a remote which is kind of nice for the X2.
I’m not sure if I covered it in This video, but in past Hohem videos I did: don’t use the hohem app. You don’t need to. Only for initial setup. Just use your stock camera app, or whatever app you want 👍🏻
For this particular gimbal, the app can add some extra tracking capabilities, but it’ll even track without it due to the built in tracking system!
@@WesPerry right, but I can't use face or object tracking in other apps from what I have seen. It only works with the V2? Are you still happy with the V2? I looked at the DJI but their app really upset people. Especially android users. BTW how's your back? I was in the hospital last year after taking a bad fall. Took me about 5 months to get to 90%
@@ckdesignlab back is much better, although it did similarly take several months to get there. Hope to never do that again!

I am very very interested in buying this gimbal.. the only thing I'm wondering is how you think the long-term quality is.
in your opinion, ofc when given good care (no falling etc), does it seem like a gimbal that may break or malfunction within a few months or do you think this is an item that can accompany me for years to come?
Would it be comparable in quality with DJI brand? I loveee this gimbal esp since it also supports gopro -- but do not feel like having it break on me after a few months

Honestly, I don’t think Any of them are made to last for years of use, the DJI included.

@@linslenses4047 The 'more expensive ones' are still very cheap in the grand scheme of things. A few years ago they had a bit of a race to the bottom on price and never really came back from that. With full sized camera gimbals there is a wide range of cheap to expensive ones, but for cell phone gimbals, for the most part they're all simply made as cheaply as possible.
