Makes you ashamed to be British on the way we let down Rhodesia. Now we've all seen what happened, have to say this was a lost opportunity for millions of people.

@Katherine Sparkes Thank you. Indeed, I travelled the Uk for years. Manchester was ok, but in Birmingham I could not understand a word. Of course, the US slang, South Africa, English in India. My favorite is Aussie English. Of course, local dialects are existing in all countries. Germany, France, Spain. Beside the funny higlights of Indian English I like Russians speaking French.
Literally the Rhodesian and Afrikaner accents is that hard to imitate even after watching hours of footage of Ian Smith and Hendrix Verwoerd speaking English.
I just can't understand why "the world" was so interested in what happens in Rhodesia! Rhodesia must do this, Rhodesia must give this or that portfolio to this or that group!!! What the hell has what happens thousands of miles got to do with Britain or the US or indeed anyone else!?? When was the last time Britain gave a shit who runs Burkina Faso , for example, or when they had their last election or which portfolio was held by whom!!! But they are so INSISTENT that Rhodesia must do this or that!!!!
IT looks like they cut parts of it. 5:47 you can see a cut and after that, looking at the way the interviewer reacts, it looks like Smith did answer the question but the sound had cut out.

5:52 weird soliloquy.
These AP uploads are rough cuts. It's normal to bring one camera and film the questions seperately from the answers.
Same left wing media propaganda chopping up an interview to make the opposition look a certain way
Conveniently cut and edited before an answer was given
