  • Newsnight’s Anna Collinson investigates the battle to introduce buffer zones around UK abortion clinics. Please subscribe HERE bit.ly/1rbfUog
It is more than four years since the UK's first so-called buffer zone was set up outside an abortion clinic in the London borough of Ealing.
The aim was to prevent anti-abortion campaigners approaching - and often upsetting - patients.
Pro-choice campaigners had hoped buffer zones - which are legally-protected spaces - would soon become the norm.
But since 2018, only two more have been created in England, and BBC Newsnight has been told women are being regularly "harassed".
Anti-abortion groups deny their gatherings target women, and some say that instead they are prayer vigils meant to offer help and support.
They say that rolling out buffer zones would "criminalise prayer".
However, patients say gatherings can make them feel "fear", "distress" or "shame".
Pro-choice campaigners say the current requirement for evidence to support the establishment of a buffer zone is too demanding.
They point to an example in Bournemouth where hundreds of pieces of evidence said to demonstrate the negative impact gatherings have had outside the local clinic were submitted to the council. These included statements from women with learning difficulties, teenagers and rape victims. A buffer zone has not been enforced.
This film was produced by Louis Harris-White.

Pro life argues that within that female's body is a life with a heartbeat. It's too young to defend itself from the abortion process.
They imagine "What if that was me? Save me, help me to be born. I'm just a baby! Don't KILL ME, Please!!"
Pro life believes in saving that life from being murdered by a scalpel, or other sharp medical tool.
*That's basically the issue. (It isn't about rape, or mistakes. It's about how soon we consider a fetus to be "alive". Medically its just a tumor.)*

Query: there is a medical situation _(I believe it's called Delayed Interval Birthing)_ where the woman has multiple babies...
But they have birthday's... Day's... Weeks... even a Month or two Apart!
Due to one sibling being born, and the labor either stopped or died down before his/her siblings were born.
My question is how if Abortion is not really killing someone, because they're in the womb...
*How can we consider that born sibling to be a human being, if their siblings were conceived at the same time but could still be aborted??*

    • @darcymr353
      @darcymr353 2 года назад +1

If the born sibling is viable, it's a human being. If it's siblings are viable, should they be removed by cesarian for example, they are also human beings. A fetus needs to first achieve homeostasis before it's classed as a human being.

I'm essentially asking a Moral question. Not for a Scientific opinion on the subject.
Because scientifically speaking, he/she's a separate human being upon achieving fertilization. As DNA is different from the Mother's when said fertilization occurs.
      ...
All that aside... Legally under certain Roe vs. Wade laws, that doesn't/wouldn't matter.
If the baby is in the Womb, then it's able to be Aborted. _( Regardless of any siblings being already born)_
If I remember correctly... in Oregon, you're able to have an abortion subsidized by the State, even after Contractions have started. _(At least, you used to... idk about now)_
I know this because of the hypocrisy that happened because one couple decided to forgo any midwife style medical care for their son... who died two weeks after birth of easily prevented medical complications.... and the state decided to sue for child negligence, abuse, or something similar. Even though up till the actual birth, the couple would have been reimbursed by the state, for aborting before the birth.
      .....
Don't get me wrong... abortion procedure's can be a legitimate medical option. Even my Pastor agrees with that.
But. Abortion always ends at least one human being's life, when successful.
And it's not even always successful, or safe for the Mother. _(I know of a woman who survived 2-3 abortion attempts, even though her twin brother didn't)_ And Kermit Gosnell's case, is proof enough that Abortion is far from safe, even when you're not doing the new at home/back alley drug abortion. _( ironically, back alley Abortions tend to be safer than the Drug version. As they at least have a doctor present)_
God Bless you and all women who have been affected by abortion practice's.

I'm not familiar with American politics. I live in the UK.
Women have bodily autonomy, as do men. Where I live, the deadline for typical abortions is 24 weeks which is around the time in the gestational period that the fetus becomes homeostatic. This is more than enough time for the decision to be made, a decision that must exist.

Any individual should be with aims of trying to encourage the birth delivery of a functional baby, as in that of a baby who is responsive. That though doesn't give that they should take up the cause of becoming rude, aggressed in the direction of the women or staff or take the matter as that of a 'modern day witch hunt'. The maternal experience is so PERSONAL, and the specifics of the personal, individual experience are important to fully understand before assessing Judgement, or conveying opinion.

I’m so scared to actually speak out but I feel I must. I doubt anyone on either side of this debate is going to be a fan of me! I am a born again Christian since 2017 who had an abortion in 2004.
When I was 13 I was raped by a 21 year old man. I had never even held hands with a boy before I was raped. I found out I was pregnant. It was the darkest time of my life. At 7 weeks I had an abortion.
I came from an abusive family. If my father found out I would most likely be dead. My mother (the only person I told at the time) blamed me and told me I had brought shame upon her. She took me to get an abortion. She never mentioned it again. It’s like it never happened.
During the process no medical professionals I came into contact with helped me. I was asked once if I wanted to go to the police. I was afraid of my attacker, was aware my mother was more concerned about her public image than my well-being and that my father was violent.
I had no choice but to say no. My decision wasn’t contested, it was just accepted even though they knew my reasons. I wasn’t offered and received no counselling/therapy, no one showed me compassion, no one tried to get justice for me.
The clinic I was taken to was at the beginning of this report. On the day of my abortion there was no protest. If there was a protest it would have added to the unimaginable pain and weight I was carrying. I couldn’t have coped with any more pain, shame, fear than I already felt. I was a child. Every choice had been made for me. I felt powerless.
My message here is to Christian’s - please stop this! It’s not showing compassion and Christs love.
You have no idea what’s happened in that girl/woman’s life and you have no idea how your protest/vigil will further traumatise her.
There are other things you can do. Help implement, fund, deliver PSHE lessons on consent, healthy relationships, re-education relating to pornography etc Push for men to take greater responsibility for unplanned pregnancy and their own sexual behaviour.
Pray for women somewhere where you aren’t going to stigmatise, traumatise and shame them.
Fund, volunteer and manage services which can help women and girls if they wish to make another decision.
This is one of the issues that present Christian’s as the opposite of what we’re told to be in Christ. It stops people hearing the word of God. It prevents people understanding the true nature of Christ.
It shows Christian’s to be everything we shouldn’t be as it’s judgemental, re-traumatising, stigmatising. Anything Christian’s do should be done out of love and compassion for all involved. This is not helping people come to Christ and it’s not helping vulnerable women and girls who are victims of abuse.
If this hadn’t happened to me I would probably agree with the people standing outside the abortion clinics. But because of what I have been though I have been forced to experience what those on the other side of the interaction may feel. Please listen to my story and think about a more compassionate way to approach this.
    Thank you for reading.
    In love and faithfulness,
with all that we have and all that we are,
help us to serve you, O God.
As we speak or write or listen
to those nearby or far away,
help us to share your love, O God.
    In our plans and work
    for ourselves and for others,
help us to glorify you, O God.
In every thought and word and deed,
by the power of your Holy Spirit,
this week, may we live for you, O God.

    • @reasonandrationality3600

@@user-ib4fg6xr6n There is zero rationality to your statement. I know exactly how the system "works" because I have people in my family who do foster care, and I have had dealings with the system myself. For the many flaws that the system has, to include sub standard "care gives," are you seriously suggesting that a person would be better off being killed in a defenseless state to avoid the possibility that they MIGHT have some misfortune befall them at the hands of the system? We all endure unfairness and misfortune in life, some worse than others, so by your logic we would all be better off never having been born at all. Where I'm from, most children in state custody aren't born into the system, they get into the system because the authorities remove them from their parents, or they are orphaned. The logical conclusion to your premise is that these children should be euthanized because the system is broken. It is a fact that some people are born into families in which they are wanted and they are still horribly mistreated. There are many children who go through the system, have a rough go of it (or not), and come out just fine to be happy and productive citizens.
If you look at the numbers of people who want to have children but can't (straight couples, gay couples, single people who shun intimate relationships for a variety of personal reasons) and wait for years to be able to adopt a baby, some wait for so long that they eventually give up, the fact that we kill the unborn seems even more irrational. Irrational because not only are you wrongfully ending a human life, you are also depriving someone else of their opportunity to become parents.
But even if all of that is untrue, you and I have no right to decide who should have a chance to live and who shouldn't. By you and I, I include the women who bring these people into the world (or don't as the case may be). No person has that right because one person cannot morally own another person. That is true regardless of how flawed the system, which is run by our obviously completely eternally competent and compassionate governments, may be. Maybe instead of making it easy for a young pregnant woman to kill her baby, the focus should be on making it easy for a young pregnant woman to find a home who will want her baby.
I appreciate your passion for defending your point of view, truly. Unfortunately there are no valid arguments based on scientific observations or logic that make a good case for abortion. I've concluded that dedicated and well informed pro choice people should admit that they are pro choice because they are accepting of tiered class society where there are no true human rights for the sake of convenience and vanity

Official abortion laws did not appear on the books in the United States until 1821, and abortion before quickening did not become illegal until the 1860s. If a woman living in New England in the 17th or 18th centuries wanted an abortion, no legal, social, or religious force would have stopped her. feeling guilty and questioning choices you make is not necessarily a bad thing, guilt may arise from a healthy conscience or in some religions from the angels to bring you on a correct path. Its a healthy quality- you cannot go around making any decision you wish to make without any consequence of opposition thought or action, it is very normal to question yourself regarding decisions you make especially if they are difficult and hard situations, which this topic is. Having derogatory words and being shamed personally for your decisions is a very different thing in comparison to putting an objective opinion out there that is not personally directed but will encourage THINK. whether that is choosing to abort or not, at the end, an informed well thought out decision is a good one- if you feel guilt and question yourself because someone hands you a leaflet may be an indication that it is not a deep, thorough, well thought out decision- which like any other difficult decision or situation should be.

On another side there are psychopaths eho don't feel guilt even for mass murder. Since they don't feel guilt they didn't do anything wrong, right?
Guilt is a feeling not a proof of wrongdoing.

There are plenty of valid reasons for abortion such as extremely badly formed foetus (though the definition here is of course debatable), rape, mortal danger to the mother, etc. But the truth is abortion would not be needed if the women never got pregnant in the first place. The true problem is extra-marital sex, including rape and consensual adultery. Either do something about it, or admit that you do not care about life at all, or prepare for judgment.

('With regard, the LIFE of the child, of the baby, you might consider the possibility of adoption or the review of programs available in the community to help you birth the child and parent the child.' (With due consideration and reflection)
Woman/Partner: (same exact response noted above) their response: No. We have thought through completely our very personal experience and decided what we are going to do in our own lives.
And so: it is not such the need to excessively complicate. Do the right thing, by trying to encourage the birth of any functional, responsive baby. It is not necessary to display oneself as a crazed maniac, screaming out savethebaby chants or by harassing expecting parents and shaming them. Try to encourage birth and parenting and then try to be sympathetic, empathize with the couples, women who decide otherwise, or lose their baby because of birth defects.

Abortion is Absolutely the ending of a Human Being's Life.
I don't know if I'd call it Murder, or the Mother a Murderer.
But make no mistake... Abortion is Not a Right.
At the very least, nothing should allow for a Woman to unilaterally decide to end a life, just because.
*She should ABSOLUTELY have the Right to Refuse an Abortion.*
But what happens when a woman gets pregnant through means that is unethical. _(Like Raping some guy, or illicitly gaining sperm samples.)_
Don't get me wrong, abortion should be a available medical option in certain circumstances.
But at most 5% of all American Abortions, have a cause from something like Rape, incest, and/or health complications for mothers or children.
    .....
As for the video... it's very pro abortion friendly.
I'd like to see some reporting on how many women die, or face complications, directly/indirectly from their Abortions.
Like how the women in the video, are not outliers. But seem to be blaming Abortion activists pro-lifers, for their feelings of guilt. _(I'm sure that they aren't exactly helping the abortion victims, but women who have Abortions tend to have those psychological issues with the Abortion, in any event. )_
Of course, this might be easier to discuss and discover truth about Abortion...
If pro choice states/advocates/organizations weren't so keen on disrupting anything that smacks of investigations and data collection of abortion statistics.
Just from Wikipedia, California hasn't been reportedly releasing any kind of collected information about Abortions, in years.
_And for some inane reason, people seem to think that Miscarriages are "Natural Abortions" or some such._
    ....
In any case, I don't blame them for having the abortion. I blame the industry propaganda that seems to be convincing people that abortion is the same thing as Contraception. Or is perfectly harmless.
Considering Abortion kills more Women per year, then it did pre Roe vs. Wade...
And _definitely_ kills more women annually than anti-abortion violence has Since Roe vs. Wade....
Even if you're buying the bullshit misinformation that Dehumanizes the Pre born children, *Abortion would be considered anything but harmless.* _(And that's before you get to the new form of "Back Alley Abortions"... the "At Home" abortion drugs.)_

@@thediesel4475 This is a valid point. You could take your argument a step further and say "more abortions in our history might have led to fewer dictators today" since that is a hot topic once again today. But let's think about your argument and take it to its logical conclusion.
I'm not aware of any testing that can be done on a fetus to determine that he or she will become a psychopath, narcissist, or sociopath in the future. In fact, the offspring of any known person with any of these conditions are not guaranteed to display any of these traits. Therefore, using your statement as an argument in favor of abortions would essentially be saying "we need to kill people for what they MIGHT do or become." I hope you would be disagreeable to me ending your life just because I'm concerned that you might end mine in a traffic accident one day. I will not insult your intelligence by explaining to you how that would be a human rights violation.
Furthermore, the opposite of your argument would be equally true. Perhaps we have aborted a prodigy who would have cured cancer years ago. Maybe the inventor of a new technology that will solve global warming once and for all and end poverty is currently an unwanted pregnancy with spina bifida who will be aborted tomorrow.
We must conclude that even though your argument seems to make a certain amount of sense on the surface, it doesn't stand up to any amount of genuine scrutiny because we cannot possibly know who is being killed in an abortion - for better or worse

Isn't murder, is a project of a human being, is killing an nonviable human being, which is far better than what it will face once born, you take responsibility and let others make their adult decisions, you're religious fanatic extremist, getting on other people's lives. Great stupid suggestion, out of proportion, just like your religion would, you don't have a clue what you're writing about. Abortion happens all the time, nonviable conceived eggs get washed away naturally on periods, successful pregnancies: only 1 gets attached to the Uterus wall, the many others are flushed, ectopic or nonviable pregnancies, etc. Forced pregnancies are not women fault, specially in underage girls that don't have the body to carry to term, so is their decisions to make, not yours, or anyone's else, back off!

It blows my mind how people can think an 8 wk old fetus can feel pain when there is no brain yet. If the brain is not developed, the fetus cannot feel anything.

The woman in the video who had an abortion was twenty weeks pregnant. That is a fully formed baby and they respond to stimuli at that stage so they feel pain too.

Blows my mind how some people may brace themselves to urban legends and superstitions instead of accepting what science says. Maybe you need to see a real report about how a human life begins in National Geographic instead of justifying the killing of a baby just because it is tiny.

I support Pro-Life and I'm proud of it. The problem with pro-choice people is their hypocritical agenda believing life inside a mother does not matter while life outside matters more.

There is no "life inside the mother" only potential for life, life matters more "outside the mother" because it IS life, how can you be inhumane. "Pro-Life" are deceivers because they care nothing for the lives of the living or the pain and suffering the bring to people, all dressed up in the charade of "caring".

    • @saultube44
      @saultube44 2 года назад

Because it does. It isn't hypocritical at all, that's a project of a baby, that's not always viable, people of course do their best to make it viable, but it's just stupid to think the life of the mother matters more, when clearly it doesn't, morons like you think it's just the same, clearly isn't, facts say so: she's a grown up that was very difficult to form and get to that state of being a woman having a baby, a fetus/embryo, it's starting a that journey, and from the usefulness to society doesn't make sense, from the sustainability, it doesn't without the mother; but it does make sense to keep the mother alive, so he can try many times over. Women have abortions all the time involuntarily: 1) many eggs get conceived, but most are lost naturally and only 1 or 2 get attached to the Uterus wall; 2) on their period some eggs get fertilized while having sex, all of them get washed by the blood flow; 3) ectopic pregnancies are nonviable and can't be helped, abortion is the only choice to save the mother. Stop being a moron, and learn facts of life
