Might make a street legal 2 stroke, I've seen a street legal CR500 and KX500 so far as well as many 250 2 strokes. What I like about the YZ490 is the price point, it's much more affordable then the KX500 and CR500.
This one was an 86 (5 speed) and I didn't have too many issues out of it. The pre 85's had the 4 speed gear box, more jetting issues/drum brakes. If you can find a later one in decent shape, buy it. won't find a faster bike for the money

Are the YZ490's any good? Just curious, I'm not really into big bore 2 strokes but incase I ever decide to buy one.
I owned 3 of them they're very powerful, But the suspensions are a little jerky and they yamahop a lot.
