I had multiple problems with steering on my M05 as well. I installed bearings into my plastic bell cranks (I didn't even bother installing any of the plastic bushings when I built mine), reamed out the holes in bell cranks with a 9/32" drill bit to eliminate the bind where they attach to the center link (both of my bell cranks had binding issues), and then I filed down the steering posts to eliminate the slop. The centering I solved by installing an inexpensive Kimbrough small servo saver (all attempts to fix the stock Tamiya servo saver failed). Then the last fix to the steering I added a set of Tamiya TB EVO IV fluorine coated king pin ball studs to the steering arms to raise the balls up 4 mm which eliminated bump steer (I couldn't shim the stock ones up high enough, and when I shimmed the balls on the center link down the steering end links would bind up). I can offer a tip: I haven't run into any chattering, but watch for chattering under power when your steering - the steering can turn far enough for the dog bones to catch on the cups of the axles in the hubs (and cause lots of broken things). Two fixes, reduce steering input or replace the dog bones and axles ends with CVD's (which have an additional benefit of eliminating ton of driveline lash).

Very sweet M05 model. I think that some upgrades are necessary like the steering, shocks/shock towers, rubber sealed ball bearings, universal drive shafts and the motor heatsink. The rest is just " eye candy." never in my life have I raced any of my r/c cars when I had them ( not the competitive type) but just for parking lot driving fun. Great video. 👍👍👍

Your steering will be twitchy because your running some toe out on your front drive wheels
