I was getting frustrated with this too trying to do manual solutions until someone pointed it out to me.

At 15:00...thats a convoy trap. When Abwehr tells you the Brits are on to you, it's not uncommon to get a juicy report of a well escorted and alert convoy.

It's actually a tale about the difference between hauling munitions vs iron ore. If you were laden with iron you slept in your boots with the door open cause you sunk in minutes from the weight. If you were hauling munitions you slept in your small clothes door closed cause you wouldn't wake up before meeting st. Peter.

1:30 The issue with the G7eA torpedo is that its a homing torpedo. Meaning no matterr what ship you launch it at it will always home in on the ship thats more near to you. Its always surpising seeing it turn away as soon as you launch it for the first time. It has a 80% chance to hit a merchant ship, but it can also home in on your propellers and hit your U-boat-it has happened. So when you launch it, stop your engines.
Sometimes the captain doesn't give the correct data to the machine, you can try having him "refresh" said data by pressing some buttons, I don't exactly remember what they were called, they are next to the data like "distance", "angle" and "speed" in the little menu where you can estimate everything yourself.

Imagine being on a PT boat responding to a raid by uboat. You think this is going to be an easy hunting mission seeing as you're supporting a warship. Suddenly the warship catches a torpedo and is now fighting for its life as the uboat surfaces and angles it's deckguns right at your lightly torpedo tubes. Yeah no I'd start swimming, if a single AA round so much as touches the warhead on the PT torpedos there wouldn't be enough left of the entire crew combined to bury in a soup can.
Then you'd have to imagine my campaign. A Type IIA sinking a *_destroyer_* laced with several corvettes would literally bring anybody to fear. (Then again.. I did save scum.. But alas, the AI cheat anyways.) Oh. Did I mention that I did that on the surface? You'd be surprised how well AP ammunition is.
The next time you have to make a really long trip, try alternating between the diesel and the electric engine. Just dont get caught by the enemy when your batteries are empty.

But, if you stop in the middle of the ocean/sea at night and slowly charge the batteries, you will eventually reduce the fuel consumption.
I dont know how much of the content you already have pre-recorded, but a small tipp from me. if you want to save/preserve some fuel on longer missions (like the american coast) you can switch between Electric and Diesel motors while Traveling on the surface. (Switch to electric until battery runs low, then back to diesel till battery is charged up again and so forth) hope this knowledge will be useful for you

Regarding fuel usage. You can save a crazy amount of fuel if you alternate between your engines. If you need constant speed, go for 5/5 on electric and 3/5 on diesel when the electric is depleated. If you need more fuel, go for electric and stationary recharge. If you chase, well, go full diesel. This will save between 3x to 5x of your fuel. Maybe even more. I managed to do around 3 patrols with one full diesel tank this way. And still had a small amount at the end.
Did you know you can sometimes capture the pilots of shot down planes for reputation points? Also, I just finished my first campaign and my favorite thing to do was sneak into ports and torpedo ships at anchor, you should try it, it’s funny.
9:02 Angle on Bow is registered as -1 degrees which is obviously false. 0 degrees means the target ship is heading directly away (that's why the computer told you to fire directly at the ship, the target ship might as well be stationary at that angle) while you were approaching from starboard quarter. Fire the guy who entered the data lol. Also ideally you should be firing at 90 degrees with magnetic turned on half a meter below keel for maximum damage.
To be fair to the dissident crewmen, choosing to 1v6 an entire bomber squadron with a U-Boat rather than simply waiting them out or sneaking away is pretty tactically unsound, even if it worked.

You’re not the only one having issues with the torpedo calculations. I’ve been having trouble with the solution computer giving completely wrong calculations at times too, ever since the last update.
Don't worry too much. There's not a lot of Marine activity out in the open ocean and that oil was already on fire which is the bare minimum of oil spill treatment.
