- I've always liked this song since my childhood of playing Republic Commandos, But I hadn't thought about singing the theme until recently.
I was honestly surprised to not find any other female covers of Vode An, so I guess this is the first (maybe?).
Also thought that it'd be pretty neat to add in the translation as well.
So this is my take on the song.
I hope you enjoy it!
"Vode An (Brothers All)" was composed by Jesse Harlin, and belongs to the Star Wars franchise.
I own only my voice in this audio.

It depends really as it is firstly brothers all, but can loosely mean siblings. From what I know Vode is brother/brothers and Vod is sister/sisters, but take it with a grain of salt

adding an 'e' to the end of a word in Mando'a is the same as adding an 's' in English

This is mesh'la. Now I want a scene in Bad Batch where Omega sings this. Maybe give you a one off cameo role of a young female armorer (from The Mandalorian) who teaches it to Omega and the two sing a duet, and if we're really feeling adventurous, have Bradley Dee Baker voice the Bad Batch joining in, and why stop there, have Katee Sackhoff voice Bo-Katan joining in (They would be on Mandalore and the young Armorer is a foundling learning under Bo's care). Dave Filoni, make this happen!!! Kote!!!

I think Jesse Harlin actually made female version for Old Republic, it's called "The Spirit Of Vengeance"
I just listened to the song that you mentioned in your comment, but I don't really consider a few seconds skirting the end of a 4 minute song "the female version" of Vode An.
I was specifying more towards the fact that there are no other full female covers of the song Vode An itself.

Fun fact: In universe, the republic changed Mandalore to Coruscant and something about the Republic and Jedi, to make the Clones more "patriotic."
Double fun fact: because Coruscant was the original homeworld of the Mandalorians, its doesn't actually change the meaning of the song. Just makes it more retro!

Great job on this. I especially like the translation you did. The only wish I have is if you could make it more fierce. I mean, the male choir was calm but still hard and intimidating to listen to (if you're a enemy of Mandalore/The Republic). Female Mandalorians, being proud and fearsome warriors as well ought to sing in a likewise manner.
Unless this is like a lullaby or a version of the song for Mandalorian young?

How is this 2 months old and something I've only just now found?! I clicked on this by chance expecting for someone to have just pitched of the original song but no.
Holy Christ I'm absolutely blown away! The delivery of the vocals is superb and the inclusion of the lyrics in English towards the end gave me literal goosebumps.

Okay this was really cool and did enjoy it however, in my opinion it doesnt make sense yes men have deeper voices then women however mandolorians stuck together; man woman, alien, child. It didnt matter they fight, sleep and sign together. But still good job all I'm saying is they didnt care who you are just the fact you are a mandolorian and a food warrior everything forgets your gender, your age, your species you are a mandolorian. But I do really like the Galactic Basic at the ens

What I like about the Mando'a language is that it's gender neutral. And while we universally know the song Vode An to mean Brothers All, as it's sung by the clone commandos who are all men, it could just as easily be sung by a woman, in which Vode An would mean Sisters All.
The Mandalorians were very gender inclusive. They didn't care what gender you were, as long as you pledged allegiance to the current residing Mand'alor and you were a competent warrior.
I love that concept as well!
I find this easier to sing along than the original. 🙂

I love the concept (and found myself wondering in the last few years what it would have sounded like) and very much appreciate the translation that you added.
But there's something that feels off and I can't put my finger on it (which bothers me, because it means I can't offer a criticism that is as constructive as I'd like). Maybe the accent? But it wasn't that much of a problem in the original, so why should it be here?

The pronunciation of the Mandalorian language could really use more guttural sounds. The rolled "R" - "Rah" (from American English accent or even northern Mandarin Chinese accent) and elongated "day/tay" were really stopping this song from achieving perfection. Pronounce those as shortened "la" and "de/te" would be a major improvement upon an already well-rounded harmonics and cords!
No one is truely perfect when speaking Mando'a. Though the language was made with an northern American accent. So rolling the r wouldn't really be faithful to the language in a sense. Though in a lore aspect wouldn't matter since we are all brothers and sisters.
@@sinisterisrandom8537 I reread what I wrote and I can see why it's misleading. Edited it for better clarity (maybe I still failed to do so). Mando'a is not meant to be spoken with an American accent and one should avoid rolling Rs or elongate the vowels of de and te was what I meant to say.
But yes, we are brothers/sisters all in musical excellence.
I saw in one of her other comments that she just sang this because she liked the song and was surprised that there were no female covers. I don't think she was aiming for any critiques.
I just followed what the dictionary told me to the best of my abilities, but thank you for the tips!
