I remember the first time I heard this song. I stepped off the bus with my headphones on and that intro came on. I stopped at the bottom of my driveway and thought "wow, I hope the station plays that again soon". Jam and Lewis and FMD are pure magic.
dude, the way you structure your lesson is amazing, im a longtime guitar player learning keys so i know theory but piano chord voicings are different this is exactly the kind of vid need!!! plus im all about the 80s vibe this is great please keep 'em coming!!
Cudos to you, great video, however, it's not hilarious that you haven't heard this or had a request for this, this song has and will stand the test of time, beautiful Ballard and great music composition my man, OH Yes, OG here 50 Plus. Thanks for sharing brother........
Bro! Put some "spec" on their name. Force MD's were very talented. A lot better than many of the popular artist of today. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis created this masterpiece. They made hits for Janet and a plethora of other artists.
Haha will put more respec on ‘em. They’re before my time, but I can see why they were hits back in the day. I believe Jimmy and Jerry are RnB legends. They’re names sound familiar.
I completely agree especially since most of them have passed away, I don't see how no ones asked him to play this song yet one of the best piano riffs ever, and this song is way better than anything I can think of now!
@@SIMPLEKEYZOFFICIAL From the Krush Groove Soundtrack. Produced by Jam and Lewis formally of the "Time" product by Prince. I think this was like the first ballard by a hip hop group.... I think.
Thanks a lot for the video I'm not quite sure what's so hilarious about this throwback song produced by Jimmy jam and Terry Lewis one of r&b greatest ballads. Classics only get better with time. Lyrics that mean something and a beautiful melody. Classic. Thanks for the vocal parts in the melody. Absolutely loved it!!!! True love. The group "Force MD's!!!!!!!!
Much respect to u young brother, a lot of folks from your generation are just using pre-set melodies...you've taken time to learn your craft!!! Respect!!
Thank you so much. This is a beautiful song. I used to have the sheet music and it was one of the few songs I learned to play well as a teen. I’ll be 50 this year and want to relearn it. Have completely forgotten how to play it. Lost the sheet music. Glad I found your video!
Janet Jackson’s “Come Back To Me” has a similar profession and is in the same key. I use to play them back to back. BTW, at 46, I’m one of the old people you’re talking about.
@@SIMPLEKEYZOFFICIAL 🙂 I taught myself how to play piano on 80s, 90s R&B. A few favorites: Brian McKnight first album, Prince slow jams, Weak by SWV, Can You Stand The Rain, Together Forever by Shai, Secret Garden ruclips.net/video/AkRGRI0bvt8/видео.html , Jodeci first album, Luther Vandoss, Going older Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Doobie Brothers, etc.
Man these go back, but they’re solid options. Got can you stand the rain on the channel. I also know Brian McKnight, but will have to look the others up.
Thank U for making this !!! I will study this for days before I have it!! But i really appreciate it...hey A Good song is timeless...the Jerry Curl..not so much..lol..A nice Lovesong will never go out of style
Song was written produced and arranged by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (you’ve heard of them right?) 👀 for the soundtrack to Run DMC’s movie Krush Groove. I love my era.
Sir! You did great playing this classic 1985 song. It was written by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. I would love to take piano lessons from you. You talk very fast! It would be nice if you slow down when explaining. Thanks Sir!
Lol, it shouldn't be as big a deal to me as it is, but I'm amazed that you had never heard this song or any of the Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis classics before recently. What decade were you born?
Instantly subscribed upon hearing how you played this. I hope you do a tutorial for "Everytime" by Janet Jackson someday. That song has got wonderful piano instrumentals.
Young buck, you were probably conceived to this song!! This song is when music was good and not the garbage that’s called music of today. You should dive deep into the 90’s r and b bag, it would be time we’ll spent. 90’s music will always be loved and revered- today’s music won’t because there is no talent and no heart and soul put in it. Today’s music is just about how many streams it can get real quick and then it’s gone- disposable music like a $1 lighter.
Its interesting to me that Beatles & Led Zeppelin is called "classic" but with our history so many us disgard it, you had to laugh at it & mention Jerri curls 🙄 The disrespect almost makes us not want to watch the tutorial.

I think if you learned music playing RnB you can play most contemporary music. Grew up around it and it always has the vibes.
You have beautiful voice

It was the time when R&B was real. Not that stuff today.
You should have given props to the legendary producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis…but as you said…this was before your time.
I got this song on the original vinyl. Not to stunt on y’all just sayin.
