      @@mike6340 oh I know! In my teen years I used to tinker with CB radios, and AC to DC power supplies in the 20 amp range. I know the grudge they can hold. Lmao!

    Great you showed it holding the processor. Since so much is under the microscope in some videos it's hard to imagine what the size of something actually is. Awesome work! And if all 4090s are repaired you can always try something like being a surgeon.

    I’ve repaired a quite a few CPUs on the past, one one side is in situ I always added leaded solder first to both sides. Luckily the pass were still intact. Sometimes if you get unlucky pads gone and it can’t be rapaired.

    My mom worked in an office building on a computer that would routinely misbehave so she would tell it that the next semi that is padding by you are going in front of it and miraculously it would start behaving.

    Most ceramics vary substantially with temperature. I predict that the caps are 1.0 uF bypass ceramics.

      And its obsolete now. You can get a 96 or 128 core from AMD with much, much faster cores and probably 3 times more efficient, maybe more

      Yup and they are most commonly used in pairs. They were designed for server duty. I remember one that had a gallium alloy cooler assembly on it made by nanocoolers. The gallium alloy got some air inside that caused the MHD pumps to work intermittently. Replaced with a tried and true water cooling unit.

      ​@@unnamedchannel1237 if you can spend 5000 $ on JUST the processor, it's a bit dumb to think they can't afford new ram and motherboard that makes it a few orders of magnitude better. Also, when you're in the market for the most powerful thing there is, you usually need it for a good reason 😉 Especially companies.

    Alex, on devices you cant test, like this CPU. How do you know how to charge? is it a fix? maybe fix? or do you have a separate charge for attempted fix?

    I have knocked off quite a few of these in the past. Each time Intel has replaced under their warranty. Benefit of being an integrator.

    Was the CPU dead with that cap missing/resistor disconnected?
    And for the record you're only crazy if the caps start talking back to you.

    There goes the ROHS compliance. I would be scared to use the soldering iron near the gold pads. Kapton tape is our best friend here.

    Here’s what I don’t understand about this repair, what kind of meat headed hulk hands do companies have installing/maintaining their hardware to have something like this happen to a cpu? I’ve built more computers/servers than I care to remember and I have never, not once, had a component issue like this. Boggles my mind, but thank goodness NF exists!

      This CPU was probably dropped onto a desk corner or case edge, and it's probably the only one that got dropped out of thousands.

    Maybe it is just me, but I would look for a different material to wipe off the board than the cotton bud as it leaves a lot of textil on the components. Maybe it doesn't have any functional effect in this world, but it would look more appealing even to customers, if they don't see pieces of textil hanging from the CPU.

    just a question these things can get really hot. So will soft solder be a risk ?

      if it's transistor or mosfet, maybe ... but this got hot under 100 C degrees

    From my experience, CPU's can handle 1 or 2 broken bypass caps. I'm not a complete meathead, most weren't my fault, it happens.
    That resistor on the other hand, probably the bigger issue. But you may as well repair them all at once.

    I recommend you guys on reddit sometimes (mainly for storage/GPU repair), I do wonder if they go through with the recommendation sometimes haha. I do use a different alias on reddit though, so it's unlikely i'd be recognized here on RUclips.

    What is the melting point of the leaded solder you are using because the 8180 can get up to 84 degrees Celsius.

      Even the lowest melting point leaded solder melts at 180 C degrees ... so there is no problem. There are no moving parts, like some kind of port - USB, power jack ...

    Seriously after watching your pin broken fix, videos I eagerly want to send my AmD ryzen 5 3600 cpu to you as a parcel, unfortunately I live in another country and I literally dont know which shop in my country could fix the problem like you do and even I got rejected by AMD support like a dating app for to do possible RMA even after my cpu was under warranty, Now I don't know whether to laugh or cry at same time
