    Thank you for mentioning low volume listening. I think this aspect of audio performance is way overlooked. Hopefully people will start considering and talking about performance at various listening levels more and more.

    Note: In order to get both of the speakers in-frame for this video, I had to position em' a bit closer together than usual. For tips on placement and equipment matching, expand the description box and get your read on!

    I have a pair of Triangle Comete EZ book shelves, the baby brother to these guys, (Utilizes the same Tweeter), and I gotta tell ya it’s chilling how great these speakers sound. I gave up my B&W 602 S3’s for these and haven’t looked back.
    These speakers really shine with good equipment and vinyl. I introduced a 10 watt tube amp, using EL34 & KT88 Tubes and you’d think you were in a concert hall. I hooked up a SVS 12” sub off the preamp and ran a 10 band eq in line from the phono out to assist with bad recordings and man does it sound great. It’s too bad more people haven’t heard of Triangle, the trade magazines and industry experts have nothing but good thing to say about ‘em.
    If you get the chance, give em a listen, you’ll be blown away.

      I believe you, heard them at an audio show in NY and was blown away.

      I heard them at The Hi-Fi audio show in Tampa last year and was sold. The US Master distributor was displaying the line and I never heard of this brand prior. I came to the show looking to showcase speakers bringing with me several of my test / speaker rating music selections on CD and LP and after listening to them bought these speakers right on the spot and took home the ones right on display in their suite. Was able to negotiate a good deal being they didn’t want to pack up and lug them back to their showroom in NY.
      Highly Recommend !!!!
      At this point I changed my amp’s pre amp tubes to Vintage 1960 RCA’s and changed the output tubes to GOLD Lion KT77’s. I ditched the EQ and changed out the phono pre amp from a GoGrove to a DJ PRE ii Phono Pre Amp and replaced the phono cartridge to an Ortofon Super OM10... I run music in a direct mode as the artist and engineer intended it to sound and sounds spectacular.
      Amp is running at 10w per ch and these speakers sound great !

    Hello from Peru !!! I had a pair of Titus EZ, and now i have a pair of Comete EZ. I REALLY love the Esprit series, and test the Comete vs Kef, Klipsch, Focal and Dali. With my Rega Elex-R, I will choose the Triangle a hundred times.

    I still have a pair of Celius 202 floor standers from the early 2000's. They were Class A restricted for a couple of years in Stereophile. I've never sold them. Their strengths always outweighed their weaknesses. Great to see you review a speaker that is not well known in the US.

    You sure nailed it when you described Triangles of 10-15 years ago. I owned a pair of Stellas and boy were they ever unforgiving. Forced me to rule out a good part of my music collection. Triangle is probably still trying to shake that reputation today. I then upgraded to PSB which was a step in the right direction, followed by Proac which finally allowed me to listen to most of my music without cringing.

    I support the idea of separating the comparision section and components matching.
    1- This will make the videos shorter or give you more time to express your thoughts, 2- The title will be apporpriate for people searching for comparisions (and it's more click baity :D), 3- More videos for the channel = more favorable YT algorithm suggesting your channel.
    Great review as usual ❤

      I also ordered the Delta's, but I listened to the esprit first, among others (Kef R11, B&W 702S2, etc.). However, the deltas are completely different compared to the esprit in my opinion (I know a class higher, but also different sound).

    Great to see you reviewing Triangle stuff, thanks ! I live in Europe (fortunatelly in this case, I guess) and they sit no. 1 on my shortlist of speaker manufacturer to buy from soonish hopefuly. I do still enjoy good modern rock music beyond jazz , and Triangle looks like they build speakers that can also rock well :)
    I'm considering that the Signature Delta (retailing $5000 here) may be perhaps better for me.. Bit afraid of that rear tweeter of the Australes making good positioning harder. The looks are more refined on the Delta, as a bonus. OTOH, with Australe being the newer speaker, one would get some upgraded drivers ..

    Another great review Sean. I live in France and so have the privilege of being able to pick these up online for a great price. However I'm definitely tempted to pick up their younger brother the Titus ez to replace my elac uni-fi's as I would prefer a bit more dynamism and loudness at lower volumes.

    I be interested in you doing a piece on speaker design changes from the 50's to today. There's been changes in cone material from paper to metal to carbon fiber, doped or plain. In guitar amps they talk about the differences between Alnico and other types of magnetic material. Back in the day they had big box speakers sporting 10", 12" and bigger speakers with 2-way and 3-way designs, as well as really complicated designs like the Sonab QA14 (which I heard and were fantastic playing Supertramp's 'Crime of the Century'. Crossovers went from simple to hi-tech with digital modeling. Cabinet materials changed from wood to MDF, concrete, plastic, I believe there are ceramic boxes too. The box shape changed to just about everything under the sun, spheres, triangles (at least from the side with my Spica TC-50's), to plasma panels. Bracing became more important I believe. Boundary effects and other acoustic problems came more to the forefront in designer's minds. Computer modeling made design changes easier to test. 3D printing is here.
    Interviewing designers who made these initial changes would be very interesting, including what audio will be like in 10, 20, 50 years.

    So I’ve got the Bro 3’s with my Yamaha A-S801, I love the sound…I wonder how the Australe would sound with my Yamaha A-S2200 which is my main 2 channel setup?

    • @xcvbxcvb2179
      @xcvbxcvb2179 2 года назад

      I went from Bro 3 to Esprit Antal. Different sound. Esprit is more demanding in placement and pairing.
      Titanium horn tweeter vs sillk dome.
      Bro 3 has more warmish mid range and are actually better in tone and timbre.
      If you love the Bro 3 and want more I think you should go for the Bro 8.

    • @erics.4113
      @erics.4113 2 года назад

      @@xcvbxcvb2179 thanks for that. I am loving the tonality of the bro3 and am looking up the line. I've thought about 40th anniversary comete, but if I'm at that money, I think I want floorstanders. Looking at the Australe now, as they can be worked in budget, found around $3k for pair which would be the cost of the 40th with stands.
      I know you said the antal had a significantly different presentation. Any experience with the Australe? I hear your point about the bro8 and I believe there is a bro9 as well? Anyway. I'm looking for a bit more refinement and clarity, along with that tone and timbre of the bro3. Also just 'more' of it all. Plus I need a punchier snappier mid bass and upper bass that I don't think a bookshelf, any bookshelf, is ever going to give me.

    Hi all,I am not an audiophile but like good audio quality very much.Today I made a blind test between floorstannding speakers.Antal-Australe-Color special edition-KEF-B&W 704 S2-Focal 926.The top 3 was 3/antal. 2/Australe and the clear winner was the Triangle Color special edition!I played the B&W 704 S2 back home.The color special edition even sound that level better than the antal.Never expected this because I went to buy The Antal.For who's interested the price difference between the antal and the Australe is not worth it.The Australe is a bit better,but not that much....Amplifiers used were a Denon avr 3400 and an Audiolab 6000a.Difference in amps=Yes,a stereo amp from 2020 is better,but just a little in comparisation with a decent avr.I went with money in my pocked to buy an extra stereo amp also because "all the internet"says that that is the way to go,but,nah,I kept my money in my pocket.Maybe a 1500 stereo amp is much better,but in this price range is't not worth the money...for me

    Hi Sean. I have decided to purchase the Triangle EZ Australe speakers for a 2 channel system that I will only be using for music. They have pushed my budget some but I hope to get a good valued Integrated or Amplifier combo for about $1500.00 USA. My 2 choices at this point are the IOTAVX SA3/PA3 combo or the NAD C388 Integrated Amp. I need your advice because no Audio dealer in my area offer the 2 amp choices with Triangle speakers in their stores. So I hate to take the leap of faith on my own. I trust that the high sensitivity rating and the fast speakers of the Australes work well with both amps. What are your thoughts and what else might you recommend? I did here the speakers with a Yamaha S-801 and 1200. The 1200 is, at this point in time, out of my budget. But, to my ears, the 801 drove them well and sounded good. But then again I've only ever had Yamaha Aventage A/V Home theater receivers to compare it too. Much appreciated. Thank you.

      We need larger waveguides and coaxial speakers. I swear, even at a distance things sound slightly off when sound is coming from multiple drivers, when a person singing doesn't have two mouths 6in apart.

    Are you sure the company name isn't pronounced "S-pre"? the speakers model could be pronounced "Aus-tral" or "Aus-tral-yea". Can anyone who speaks French comment on pronunciation?
    EZ is probably "E-Zed"

    • @releasethekraken5299
      @releasethekraken5299 4 года назад

      The pronounciation of translate.google is accurate and I would pronounce "EZ" as two separate letters because "ez" is not a word, more some sort of acronym. If you want to pronounce it like a French : translate.google.com/?hl=fr#view=home&op=translate&sl=fr&tl=en&text=Triangle%20Esprit%20Australe%20E%20Z (click on the small speaker icon, do not change the spelling).
      I'm French. Triangle, Focal, Cabasse, Elipson are our loudspeakers main manufacturers. When you negotiate, those same speakers are about 2000 US$ (converted from euro), depending on the external finishes that are not at the same price.

      He is actually right. They are detailed but not 100% tonally accurat. Instruments don't sound exactly what they sound in real life. They also play very slightly out of key. Could be a phase issue. 99% of ordinary listners Will never hear or bother about this.
      Borea are redicuolus accurat and tonally excellent. For a fraction of the price.

    Not familiar with the speaker name. There was a turntable back in the day called a Pink Triangle. Just j-unk, but most were with few exceptions. Don’t expect to run down and snatch a pair, but the dead cabinet acoustics are a plus. I was expecting something more than paper as driver material in this price range. Oh well!

      @StringerNews1 pink triangle was an English turntable manufacturer, triangle loudspeakers are French manufacturers, both totally different manufacturers.

    Okay now as pro you may need to check pronunciations occasionally. esprit [əsˈprē]
    NOUN
    the quality of being lively, vivacious or witty.
    Just do not pronounce the "T: and the i is pronounced as an hard e.
    You may want another pair from this maker in the future and the French
    do not suffer faux pas with their language well.
    You probably took Spanish not French in school, right?
