I loved the Eddie Murphy version. I actually rewatched it yesterday and it was still so enjoyable. I didn't realize it was considered a flop, because I always thought it was really funny and scary. Especially the zombies in the cript scene. That's still my favorite moment of the movie.
I liked it to but the story seemed choppy. It could have done without the cringy jokes by Murphy. I hope they put more of the originals ride then a lot of nothing that has to do with the ride.
I don’t know how I feel about this. It feels like they’re trying to add way too much to a fairly simple plot. And why are they trying to add a kid again when the kids in the last movie were the most annoying part of it? I just feel like Haunted Mansion should be a movie with the same quality as Pirates. Make it PG-13, make it adult centered without forgetting the jokes that it needs. Make it have genuinely scary moments but at the end of the day the ghosts don’t take themselves too seriously. I just feel like Disney hasn’t made a balanced movie like that in a long time. And are we never going to have a movie that actually fits with the plot of the actual ride? I mean, what about the bride in the attic? The man hanging from the ceiling? The freaking ghost host?! Let us learn about those people and those stories! I just feel like Disney is too scared to take any sort of risk of making a film actually interesting. I mean, at this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if they made it a freaking musical. Sorry, quite a rant there.
@@fyrTV oh did you know that Guillermo Del Toro's version of the Haunted Mansion that it is said to darker scarier but however it is decided that Del Toro's version of the script that is too scary so Disney is decided to change it's direction to make it a family friendly but still with funny and scary at the same time.
I would have loved to see Eddie Murphy back in his role with his family. The 1st installment shows him receiving the deed to the house. I would have loved to see the aftermath after receiving the deed. However, I’ll still watch this one.
The relative failure of the 2003 movie at least meant that Disney wasn't tempted to tweak the ride itself to make it tie in with the movie like they did with Pirates of the Caribbean - imagine Madame Leota's seance room with an Eddie Murphy animatronic spinning around in a big chair! I just hope that if this new movie is somehow successful that they have the good sense to leave this iconic ride alone.
Really like the plot of this. I just hope its not too much and is actually a good film. I personally love the Eddie Murphy one. Its a big part of my childhood when Disney Channel would do movie nights. And i remember the Mcdonald toys and i still got the video game. Hope the mansion looks like the Disneyland version or maybe look similar to the movie version.
Honestly, I found myself enjoyed with the Eddie Murphy Version, in terms of Story it does have flaws, but the production quality did came close to the lore of it's ride attraction. 😏
Personally I loved the original with Eddie Murphy, I grew up with that. Still wish they’d make a sequel to that but, apparently that’s not going to happen. Can’t say I’m looking forward to this but we will see what happens.
I sincerely hope Wynona Ryder is the bride!!! I saw the current cast list and it's gonna be awesome! But I still have the Eddie Murphy version as my favorite live action Disney movie🙌🙌🙌
How about the singing busts? They were in the Eddie Murphy version of The Haunted Mansion, they were on the ride, and they were in The Muppets Haunted Mansion Halloween special. I don't think Disney can DREAM of making a haunted mansion remake without them.
So excited can't wait to see this movie. My two favorite actors Owen Wilson and Danny DeVito. They are going to make this movie The Blockbuster that it should be. Good luck and happy haunting!
@@patriciaMIA that's not what I mean. What I'm asking is will she be in the storyline for this upcoming Haunted Mansion remake, in other words, will she appear in this storyline as a last minute powerful villain? Or, better yet, the main villain?
I heard WINONA RYDER and JAMIE LEE CURTIS were going to be in this movie as well. Love seeing Winona in anything scary and gothic, so you know I’ve seen BEETLEJUICE more times than I can count. And if course, Jamie Lee Curtis is “The Scream Queen”! A pity DREW BARRYMORE doesn’t have a role. For some reason I’ve always wanted to see a WINONA RYDER/DREW BARRYMORE movie, since I’m a STEPHEN KING Fan as well and grew up on Drew In FIRESTARTER and CAT’S EYE.
I like the cast. These are all enjoyable actors. But I don't think it should be a comic romp. I think it should be a crimson peak style Gothic horror. Why does the haunted Mansion always have to be ham-fisted? Sorry but I'm not exactly bursting with enthusiasm. Especially given the fact that the writer worked on that abominable Ghostbusters farce.
Gonna be honest, I ain’t a fan of that plot but with the right crew I think that Haunted Mansion has SO MUCH potential. Hopefully it’ll be something cool
As much as I'm excited to see this remake of the original haunted mansion ,but this doesn't come close to the original that eddie Murphy made ,because it's closer to the rides at both Disney world and Disney land.
Idk why all of a sudden the first Haunted Mansion movie was so “lackluster.” I also remember the line for the ride at Disney World being long when I was a kid. If they wanted to make a new one, that’s fine. That’s all they had to say. No need to try to downplay the first one.
I would hope that the locations seen in the ride are faithfully recreated as part of the mansion in the film. In the original movie, I loved how the house resembled the one at Disneyland but I was a little put off when the interior didn't really match the house, it was more like the interior of the old Xbox and PS2 games.
I born on 2003 same year of the original haunted mansión movie, that i saw years later when Blockbuster still existing i rent the movie and I love It, after so many years i bought the original movie like 2 years ago, but seeing they want to do another haunted mansión movie after 20 years, im so happy
There was definitely a bias opinion in there as the original haunted mansion did well in the box office and as you can tell by the comments a lot of ppl liked it
Why does everybody keep saying that the Eddie Murphy's version of Haunted Mansion is bad? I always thought it was really good. Not that I don't like the idea of another haunted mentioned film but I was also actually hoping that Disney would finally make the Phantom Manor movie that the fans has been praying and making fan drawings for so many years
I have a feeling that I gonna love the new haunted mansion movie when it comes to theaters I ❤️ the haunted mansion because it’s based on a Disney Ride 😃
We already had a modern day depiction of The Haunted Mansion in 2003, with the Evers family coming face to face with the Haunted Mansion, and all the ghosts that live inside it… I actually loved it for what it was… but I was kinda hoping we’d get a period piece similar to POTC this time around… I’d have preferred if it was set in the 1890s, and had rich set pieces full of mystery, and intrigue. I’ve always wanted THM to get the same love and treatment as POTC. The pirates movies weren’t afraid to get dark, and tell emotionally mature stories to audiences of ALL AGES. What made those movies so timeless was the balance of lighthearted fun and dramatic maturity. I fear this movie is going to cater too much to modern audiences with modern humor, and low stakes. The focus will rely too much on the living character cast, rather than the 999 haunts from decades-centuries prior. They could have made this movie about: The Hatbox Ghost, Constance Hatchaway, Madame Leota, the Ghost Host, Captain Gore, The Dread Family, Melanie Ravenswood, Master Gracey, or even the Hitchiking Ghosts… hell, they could have even centered the movie on brand new characters like Pirates did with Jack, Will, Elizabeth, Barbossa, and the rest… but set it in an appropriate time period that matches the ride for Christ’s sake! I’m honestly so disappointed to hear now that it’ll be another modern day take like they already made back in 2003. I can’t bring myself to be as excited as I once was.. It feels like the suits behind modern Disney are once again doing what they always do these days… reboot movies that have already been made for modern audiences, and cram them full of cringeworthy humor and generic forgettable plots.
Kind of disappointed with this HM already. The one in 2003 seems to fit closest to the lote of the ride itself. This cast plays characters that I have never heard of or seen in any part of the ride. And while it may be independent, I would love some explanation of the lore behind the Haunted Mansion and not something trying to be overly funny, because it felt like the 2003 film tried too hard to be funny.
Really enjoyed the Haunted Mansion 2003 version. Nathaniel Parker was mysterious as master Gracey. A ghost who waited for his big love to return. (Kind of reminded me of the Phanthom Manor ride before it was updated and the story of the ride has been changed.) Maybe i’m just into that sort of stories.
