Back roundhouse kicks are the easiest to doge, just rotate to their left while also moving towards them (in the direction that they swing their leg around, not the direction of its sweeping motion). If its a melee using the butt of the gun doing the same but going right is usually effective. Jump over a front kick. If you move at the right angles and time it well enough you can dodge them 90% of the time, even on legendary. Its pretty much just the hunter method. I love the people complaining about Reach's Elites. Complaints usually include: 1) Plasma pistol overcharge doesn't immediately drop shields/they're too bulky This is also technically true in Halo 2 as well, and has to do with EMPs no longer just immediately stripping shields like they did in CE, though it is to a lesser extent in that game. It's also pretty much only true on the highest ranking Elites on the highest difficulty. You shouldn't be more or less instantly killing Generals and Field Marshals of the Covenant in 2 shots on Legendary. Otherwise, they're just not different enough. Furthermore, it takes maybe a mag and a half from the AR (which if it has terrible accuracy at even fairly long range it's because you can't read tooltips and that's not on Reach) to drop an Ultra's shields on legendary if I remember correctly. Not great, and that may be a bit much. But all the same, it's not like these are regular elites. On Heroic you MIGHT run into a single one per mission aside from the last two missions. Mostly it's Minors and other kinds, not Ultras and Generals. So it's not the Elites in general, it's the rare ones that are like this. Again, they SHOULD be tougher. Because they are rarer. 2) They're overequipped Yeah. Like the Rocket Flood in CE, Sniper Jackals in 2, Brute Shot Brutes in 3 that basically kill you instantly at close range, Promethean Knights in 4, and to a lesser extent some enemies in Infinite due to the weapons you may or may not have not being balanced for a small sandbox. Furthermore, literally ONLY the ones with Concussion Rifles are a problem. So that cuts it down from most Elites to what seems to be less than a third of Ultras. Compare that to legendary Elites in 2, which basically instantly kill you if they've got numerous weapons (which is just Halo 2 on legendary) and it's not a real big problem. 3) They don't look like the CE and 2 Elites Neither were the ones in 3, aside from Minors and Ultras. Those helmets looked weird as hell too. So why is that not a complaint? Also, it's just not a valid one. Not every game needs to be exactly like CE, and it's quite honestly only a thing that people that played that game first want. It's nice to see companies trying new things, and the armors looked great overall. Ultras, Spec Ops, Rangers, and Majors, Field Marshal, and Zealot all looked good. They all still have unique colors, and now it's even easier to tell them apart. You're not mistaking these guys even if you are actually colorblind, which is nice for people who struggle to differentiate colors. Not a huge fan of the General armor (it's hideous), but the others looked like the armor of a proud warrior species that takes pride in their equipment and rank on the battlefield. In the end, it's a personal preference thing. CE and 2 had good Elite armor, but that by no means is objectively the best. 4) They're just not fun to fight. Melee is too fast and does too much damage, they evade a lot of stuff, and they take cover quickly Maybe don't try to run up and punch an 8 foot tall alien whose species is associated even in popular culture with CQC and swords? Why are you doing that? Of course it's not a good idea. You can also still absolutely box them out if you know what you're doing. Also, Elites are supposed to be the smart ones. Of course they don't just stand there and take shit. It's by no means impossible to stick them or keep them out of cover, it's just more positioning than you need in CE. The game where you can consistently have Elites jump off cliffs to avoid minor damage from a grenade. Overall, I've been playing Reach for a long time. I find the Elites in this game to be completely fine, and I find that Reach just generally has less dumb shit than at least portions of the other games.
In reach the Elites hide a lot more and it makes them a bit easier to take out with strategy. I find the ones in CE hide A LOT and it burns through amo very fast when you might run out at other parts. It's just that the Reach sandbox is not as well rounded at halo ce so you can't take an elite on with anything
@@thamostgangsta12 CE's sandbox isn't really well rounded. It has 3 amazing weapons (Shotgun, Plasma Pistol, and Magnum are all stupid OP and are easily the biggest contributors to Halo CE's weapons being considered really good), two weapons that are basically never worth using if you have a choice (Needler and Assault Rifle, both are easily the worst in the series because at least the Reach AR can shield strip at decent range), and the rest are either overly niche or pointless (Plasma Rifle is literally just a worse Plasma Pistol in every way in CE, Rockets aren't particularly great overall, and Sniper Rifle is literally useless against half of the enemies past 343 Guilty Spark) or they're quite literally unusable for little to no reason (Sentinel Beam, Energy Sword, Fuel Rod Gun). Reach doesn't have any weapons that just casually wipe the floor with everything like that. But that doesn't make it bad, it just means that you can't literally two shot an Elite Ultra with your primary weapon, or one shot Hunters with a pistol. You absolutely can take on Elites with almost anything, except maybe the Needler because of how it works in Reach.
