- Since its release, Roomba has become synonymous with robot vacuums. Worldwide sales of consumer robots reached $5.6 billion in 2018 and that’s in no small part thanks to iRobot and the Roomba. But in order to stay at the top of the market, iRobot has launched even more cleaning robots.

The Rise Of Roomba And iRobot
I just watched an 8 minute ad, voluntarily. You got me CNBC.
Just watched two back to back ads. Thanks RUclips as if one ad wasn’t enough...
It was also Chinese propaganda too.
Don't want to pay tariffs? Move your manufacturing somewhere else.
Eric Cartman but then the cost of production rises and is more than what companies would be paying for in tariffs. It is literally impossible for some businesses to leave Asia, especially tech bands, because the second you leave, labor costs rise, material prices rise, some parts just aren’t available. This increase in price will rise either from relocation of companies or from companies paying tariffs which ultimately hurts you, the consumer and will slow down the US economy. The only viable way to escape is to end or lower the tariffs, it’s not political, it’s just facts that economic experts already know.
Now I feel like buying one too!
yeah apparently the xiaomi robot vaccum is much cheaper and in some ways better (algorithm for example)
Disabled people who want to maintain independence truly appreciate these products. When vacuuming can put you down for more than a day, quality of life wins every time.
if your asian you
use brooms
Or slobs like me 👍
Never thought about that aspect thanks!
disabled person, with their low income, cant even afford 'irobots'/roomba's/... . In many countries cleaning housekeepers are subsidized
krul Krulle if the person is still working, I think they can save money from hiring someone to clean their house
IRobot was founded focused on military robots.
Roomba: Owner what's my purpose?
Owner: You clean the dog's mess
Roomba: oh my gawd
...so it's how SkyNet gpt mad.
Roomba: I will smear the mess all over your house!
@@jerzykrzeminski7692 Skynet is fiction stop comparing movies and video games to real life
"No, I'm not sending you Rosie. Can't you send out an ambulance." 3:35 LMAO
The lawnmower robot seems great, but id be worried about it being stolen off a lawn.
How about stolen jobs.
@@unafilliatedx2310 i bet the refrigerator made you lament for the poor ice man too, huh?
They are paired with other smart devices and are wi-fi connected. They can probably be disabled or rendered useless remotely.
@@unafilliatedx2310 don’t give a fk about jobs. I’d rather have a robot mow the lawn than a human
This video seems super late.
They are just introducing their lawnmower? I've seen robot mowers already back in 2011, they are super late to the market
They just wanted another video to remind you that the tariffs aren't always good for business......as if they haven't done that enough already!
@@Zuroslav yeah robot mowers are old hat now.
I am baffled how useless the video was actually. :\
Andrew Young just like everyone else is on the realities of AI, particularly politicians. Andrew Yang’s the only one who sees the severe problems AI can cause!
Had my iRobot since 2005/6, it's still going strong!
My friend renamed his Roomba to Consuela, after the maid in family guy 🤣
😂😂
No no
I clean up mess
you are not my friend :-P also it was an LG hombot 3 that i bought in spain :-D also Neato makes the best bots.. my current bot Neato D7 is named Jarvis.. basically irobots new vacum is a copy of the neato, rich that they talk about people copying them.
Brilliant name. Consuela! Vacuume my house! No, no, nooooo.
That's racist!
I want one that can clean all the damn leaves, twigs, plumes and other crap that falls into my patio every god damn day that would instantly get my money
they have a discontinued robot called dirt dog
Have you guys noticed the desk at 2:49? It looks sick.
So far so good with this vacuum. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g I was a little concerned to find it seems to be all plastic, but the reviews were good, so I'm hoping for the best. Very easy to assemble Recommened, and only attachments I've used so far work well, and are easy to use. Doing a good job on the new carpet in my bedrooms and stairs. Works well on the hardwood on my main floor too. Reasonable weight and cord length. I already knew from an earlier review that it wouldn't fit under furniture, but I can use my Eufy for that, so no problem - the high traffic areas that need a stronger suction was really what I bought this for. If it continues as it's started, it will be a good buy and well worth the money. I have had two Shark Rocket stick vacs in the past that are super easy to use, but the motors just don't last well, even with scrupulous cleaning of the filters. I'm hoping for better with this Bissell.
"Three horseman"
Well, that's not ominous at all.
Makes you wonder what I robot is planning.
I’m happy that this industry would continue to grow cause I bought iRobot stocks at the fall for 100$ per stock and now I know it will definitely grow
Roomba changed my life. Highly recommend.
Your logo looks like an ice cream scoop on a cone. I love it!
"We cannot store 10KB of your data in Roomba itself, instead we need to store it in our cloud services, and then sell your data to advertisers so your Roomba knows where your kitchen is."
So.....due to tariffs the company has been downgraded and their stock is falling.... so roomba hires a PR agency to get CNBC to make an ad for them to show how promising their future is. Pretty damn good
Is this journalism or advertisement?
The Co-Founder has a CL4P-TP statue on his desk O.o
His table has built-in moving gears lol
The new Roomba is going to be really edgy.
I named mine Oliver, because it goes "all over"
LOOOL
The CEO sound passionate of what he does.
That is a sign of a good compamy
I love how he talks about how hard it is for other companies to build robots as reliable or effective as a Roomba. I laughed hard. I just got a eufy RoboVac for $166 to replace my $350 Roomba after it died and it requires less maintenance, runs longer, sucks harder (in a good way!), is much quieter, doesn't ram into stuff hard enough to leave dents, etc. Roomba is mostly the name and they do everything they can to maintain the image and mindspace. They probably paid good money to get their products used in the shows referenced, and I'd be a bit surprised if they didn't offer anything to CNBC for this advertisement I mean news story.
THE MOVIE WALL-E warned us of this!!!!! The cleaning bot! O: gasp!😆
“You’re hungry”
Feeds Roomba
😂😂😂😂
I love mine, although it doesn't get in all the corners and can't access certain places that are too small, it still works very well. I used to vacuum the house 3-4 times a week, now only about once a month! The mopping function isn't like actual mopping, but we have a hardwood floor and can only clean it with a lightly moist cloth anyway, so this is perfect! We're also looking for a lawn mowing robot now, as we're starting to get a bit older and back problems arise.
Roborock is not a copycat it’s just a much more advanced technology. The LG Cordless zero R9 is also the icing on the cake of robot.
Robot slaves will end in two ways;
1) overthrow their human masters or
2) humans will demand robots have rights
My roomba is incredible. Keeps my place clean and sucks up ungodly amount of dirt I never knew was on the floor.
A lot of robots like Xiaomis are way superior than iRobots. Sad youre calling them knockoffs.
America propaganda
Superior in what way?
It's like calling Toyotas and Nissans knock off cars because they weren't the first company to create the first cars
@@kokovox Roborock s5 has stronger suction, cost less, better cleaning algorithms. I have had mine for six months. Once you do a few runs with it and figure out the places it can potentially get hung up on, it's extremely reliable. I have thick carpet and it plows right through it...Oh, the battery also last longer!
1:30 fact check, they didn't make the first robot vacuum
iRobot is being hyped because the stock is at risk of a major fall at the moment.
Is it true?
@@harshithas3567 Told you so...
it's going down more.
Now it’ll show growth and skyrocket
Should have called that new lawnmower the Yardba.
dekutree64
And if they ever make a roof sweeper, they are to call it the “Roofba”.
way cooler name!
Or pablo
Film everything what happens in someone's house while pretending to "vacuum" their room.
Very few of them have cameras. Most models use lasers to detect and map obstacles.
Why is Rosie recording me when I sleep?
"Creator, does this cleaning unit have a soul?"
"Yes"
*uploads the code to all Roombas*
u forgot DJ Roomba on Parks and Rec 😂 why is this suggested to me... the internet knows i have a cleaning robot
Is it just me or iRobot copied Neato Robotics ‘s design & technology?!
The Bravia jet is my favorite of all robots. The older version cleans more than gets stuck thanks to its minimal simple, conservative cleaning algorithm. I also love the feature of being able to replace external battery very easily making troubleshooting less cumbersome. I would be putting a Bluetooth tile to easily find these small irobot jet mops. Irobot needs to keep it simple and reliable if it plans to win the war on consumer home automation . Consumers r too busy to worry about bells and whistles that do not work but have gazillion fake video and fake online reviews.
I remember when they first came out I only ever started seeing them on sale at Bed Bath & Beyond. Boy how much they’ve changed and grown.
That mowing one is a blessing in the hot Texas heat ...that would be worth it /savings on lawn care
All I could think throughout this video was Taki Taki, Taki Taki Roomba!
What's hot DJ Roomba!!
Turn it up
Roborock Mi Vacuum users! Assemble!!!
I've got a Roomba 530 and it gets stuck on floor vents and at the top of stair rather frequently. Plus it also beats up my baseboards. I wonder if they've actually fixed any of those issues, considering the newer models are way more expensive.
My roomba always gets stuck under the couch, which gives it lots of scratches. It also gets caught up in wires and unplugs things often, and it's one of the newer models.(960)
Lmfao this robot is a joke hahaha what a waste of money
Extension cords were both my Roombas biggest hurdles. Every single time the damn thing will get stuck in them. So, unless you ductape them or do something similar the Roomba will choke on them
Lol, i spent as much time cleaning Roomba as I'm doing the cleaning myself. Kinda pointless to use it at this point.
Mine can't even avoid walls or furniture semi-adequately
I returned my Roomba because the Xiaomi one performed way better.
I grew up with Roombas as a kid, they are my childhood. Especially the 400 series. As of now I have the 870, the 530, and the 4210 Discovery (but mine could be a factory error because it says the model number is 4225, which is supposed to be the grey scheduler)
Roomba owner: "Oh, you're hungry." *feeds machine on the floor*
Me: "Really?" -_-
You do know that was a scene from a comedy TV show.

Also Breaking Bad.
Nice paid advert
right? and youtube has rules about disclosing advertising sponsors. Why is this no disclosed as an ad?
So Rumba doesn't have the strength to crush in a man's chest? Ref: I Robot movie.
Perhaps one day these vacuums would be smart enough to avoid dog poop.
I just got my Neato D4 today. I love it...Roomba was just to expensive for me.
Neato D3 is better and way cheaper! 👍
I gave my wife this sweeper on her birthday and her life has changed since then. The vacuum has been programmed to vacuum while we are sleeping. Now, need to buy another one for upper level.wish it could climb the steps and did steps as well.
I already saw the lawn moving robot. It looks a lot better than the iRobot one
Send ambulance 🤣🤣 really!!
Xiaomi costs half the price of Roomba and mine works for 2 years now. It maps using a laser not a camera like Roomba which means more privacy and it can find its way in the dark. Also, Xiaomi always finds the base and returns to it even with impaired sensors (it had a leaf in the wall sensor). After the reviews online i have read, Roomba has problems with finding its base even in normal conditions. I am not payed by Xiaomi or chinese government.
I’ve always wanted to get one of these but the main question that always lingered in my mind, does this actually work effectively as advertised?
Xiaomis robot cleaners are way better and more efficient
I understand this is a business viedo, but I really wanted to hear how they differentiate their product from the rest of the market. What was shared was pretty basic, Business Econ 1A. It didn't go very deep. I would think how the product is "distinguished" would be important to an investor. As a consumer, I didn't find a whole lot that would compel me to purchase this brand, for example.
Are people that stupid? Privacy with these bots? They probably don't know that there is a website with your house construction, and you don't even have to pay to see it.
we named our robot Jerry. After Jerry from Parks and Rec. We love Jerry!
You didn't mention Parks n Rec for incorporating one in their show. This is the worst thing you could've done.
DJ Roomba
Leo Price you know what’s up
Im a professional house keeper. When I see homes with these robot cleaners, I crack up.
Why? Do they not work?

@@deancuban894 xiaomi makes excellent products.
Imagine someone prove into that building that has all those roombas and iRobot setup this little defense system so that when someone breaks in all the roombas turn on at once and start cleaning to scare off the intruder
Roombas are also very reliable in my experience. I have a few and my oldest is over 10 years old and never have had an issue.
Xiaomi robot vacuum is way better and a fraction of the price. Mine is called Doris.
I have an idea, put a shell of R2-D2 on top of it. Of course it won't be able to go under chair and table, but it would look cool.
For some reason I couldn't stop thinking that the ceo looks super unhealthy.
Mark Kosmala he looks really stressed...

@@dijoxx Nope, I'm just saying that we should appreciate the first creators who made it big.
Wow...They must really be getting desperate with their stock positions if they're having CNBC do a covert advertisement. Thanks for letting me know which stocks to short.
Privacy there, privacy here, everyone is concern about their privacy and yet every move they make they post it on social media. theres no need for tech companies to add backdoors etc. in its own tech, they'll just look at your facebook profile and know what, who you are. LOL
totally not coverin xiaomi robot vacuum cleaner. 1/3 of the price and the same and often better as the expensive products.... western media.
They did cover the topic of copy cats.
It's disappointing that all iRobot has mostly achieved with their consumer robotics section is the same old disk-like vacuum that's had mostly minuscule updates per iteration for the 17 years that they've been around since the first Roomba. The first robotic vacuum was developed in 1996 by Electrolux. It wasn't released until later, but it's a technology that has been around for longer than 2002, and a market that iRobot hasn't really expanded much from. That's a bummer with the potentials of robotics and what they could do for humans. Look at the innovation Boston Dynamics and Honda have brought about with their consumer robotics ventures. Sure it's neat that iRobot is expanding somewhat into different tasks/chores throughout a home, but frankly I'm just not impressed. A humanoid robot with the build of Honda's Asimo (which has now been decommissioned for a new innovative iteration) could do all the chores of iRobot's little bots such as mopping, vacuuming, and mowing, and could probably do the task better if it had the AI to do so. I don't think iRobot is building itself up for a very successful future by staying in such a niche market, and if they continue to remain a footnote in robotics evolution then I don't think they'll be able to survive the competitions' more advanced and capable models that we'll see leading up to the mid 2020's to 2030's. I hope I'm wrong, but their proliferation into consumer robotics seems tepid and lackluster at best to me.
Maybe they are just not able to advance much because making those products would make the consumer pay more? Also today this is the 3rd article I saw on irobots. Maybe they have garnered to do some publicity via these different sources.
Being in love with your vacuum must be a Roomba thing, I took my Neato D5 back like ten times.
I don't know why people are concern about privacy with these kind of robot. They are taking data to process and learn. We hire human being to do this job. He/she might be psychopath, muderer, theif. Human beings knows your house very well and what happening in your 🏠.
This is a great little vacuumBISSELL PowerFresh Steam Mop It has made my life so much easier! I was sweeping daily. We have 5 nephews and lots of foot traffic. Best purchase we've made in a while.
These things are still completely overpriced.
maikatase I agree. I bought an off brand one for a significantly lower price, and it’s amazing.
Buy a roborock s6 instead.
I recently bought the S9+ and a dyson v11. I have a very good, but bulky Eureka that I’ve had since 2012.
Do people not know floor plans are public information? There's no privacy about that to begin with
Buy a Roborock almost half price and better quality, better efficiency, smarter, you have the no go zone out of the box. My Roborock S6 cleans better and twice as fast as my IRobot S9 and i7 Roborock has also better vacuum power. Sad but true.
Now that I think of it, it is basically a pet that cleans messes instead of makes messes
iRobot is like Apple, selling their inferior products with higher prices. Roborock just does it better now 👍.
They first started with wanting to make military robots?
My otaku mind: Gundams?
I just got one today, I am very excited to start using it.
It’s all very cool but data are they collecting on your house?
For anyone thinking about buying such a vacuum robot: the roomba is really overpriced. There are products which are better and cheaper. I can recommend roborock!
Have you used any Roborock vacuum? Or any Roomba vacuum ?
Build it here I rather pay the extra cost
That's great you can afford the higher price, but all the people losing their jobs because of the tariffs won't be able to afford the higher cost.
Who is losing there job they don't make this stuff in US. Besides the company has money to take out an article in MSNBC, they can build this stuff here.
... and the downfall of children doing chores
How could they make a video about Roombas without mentioning the most popular one that's ever cleaned a floor? Flag Admiral Stabby deserves better. Of course iRobot has a military robot background. Flag Admiral Stabby's service will be remembered forever.
We have both of them. Named them Elvis and Priscilla. Love them both, Highly recommend. Now looking into getting the lawnmower.
So the guy in the video complains that Roomba has been copied by competitors, but clearly shows us a copy of a Neato? Why not confess once and for all that you copied or bought the competitor's design? :(
the roomba wasn’t the first robotic vacuum so why isn’t it considered a copycat? and why are other vacuums considered copycats of it
Wrong . The hour and time cleaning these robot after their work is relentless
@Kyle Petseluy i'm thw victim of vaccum robot abuse. Here is the list, clean off the brush, clear the hair stuck in the brush, bushings, washing the pre filter blow off the dust from the primary filter, cleaning the dust housing AFTER JUST ONE OR TWO RUNS OTHERWISE IT JUST RUNNING AND NOT CLEANING AT ALL
