@Pri yon Joni Are there places in Iowa (Des Moines/Cedar Rapids/Iowa City) to buy turntable needles at without in person without ordering online? Are there DJ stores in any of these cities?
If there is, I haven't come across it. Could try some record stores. I usually order mine. I don't play or collect vinyl, so unfortunately, my radar for it is not the best.

The A9 is sick. Center Lock is a great performance consideration and I’m excited to hear first-hand how the mixer sounds. I think the real interesting part of this release is the Stagehand app!

Nice review! It needed more lightsabers though.... A beautiful mixer indeed, but not enough to pull me away from the V10 beast. Would have liked to seen a little something with stem integration as well, since all the major softwares (except two) do stems now. I would agree that it is a definite evolution from the 900 and will likely be the standard going forward. I am interested to see how fast clubs switch over. Some of my gigs the clubs still have the cdj 2ks.......... Totally not feeling the stagehand app though- can see a lot of potential problems with that including hacking....
Do you have any idea why Pioneer opted not to include the Ethernet Lan Hub directly into the A9? I am loving this mixer. Great review!
There is a very real reason why every CDJ and DJM has only 1 Ethernet port. This became very apparent when the DJM-2000 was around. The DJM-A9, like the DJM-900NXS2, and 900NXS will be on every festival stage. Every now and then, a mixer swap will happen. Some DJs may request a V10, or even a non-Pioneer DJ mixer. Or sometimes, a drink gets spilled on the mixer setup, and quick swap is needed.
If the mixer has a hub, that means in addition to plugging multiple audio and power cables, will also have to plug AND relink 4 CDJs. That will actually take additional time, and can risk making additional mistakes when assigning the CDJs.
Also, if you’re swapping to a non Pioneer DJ mixer, then the stage tech will have to bring out an external ethernet hub regardless, and take the time to relink.
Sure, if there was a built in hub, the option to use an external one is there. But not every stage tech (who often is not a DJ) will have the foresight to use an external one. And it’s not easy to tell the techs, “here’s a mixer with a built in hub but don’t use it.”
To avoid all those problems, simply place one ethernet port, so your guaranteed to require an external hub. And every time you swap a mixer, the CDJs don’t have to be unlinked. You simply pull the mixer, while the CDJs remain in Pro DJ Link, uninterrupted. It actually solves a risk problem most folks don’t foresee.
I like the A9 but after doing research I’m going to pull the trigger on the Djm V-10

I think there's still too much lag, but the ability to use blutooth headphones would have been nice... someday. Also weird that the flagship mixer is NOT a Rekordbox unlock? But I believe all the DJMs except the 900NXS2 were unlocks as well. Still upgrading from the 900NXS2, but it seems petty to go after longtime Pioneer customers (which most of the DJs that use the 900NXS2 and now A9 are) for $18 more a month or whatever
It is a rekordbox hardware unlock device. That's what "plug and play" means.
Oh cool. Everything that I saw said that it required a subscription license. Im still waiting on mine since I sold my NXS2
Which one has better sound quality. V10 or A9?
They have the same ESS tech DAC with slightly different voicing. V10 sounds warmer while A9 is more neutral.
My thing will there be enough units ? I’m sick of pioneer not hawing anything in stock and everything is being scalped that’s not right or fair
If anything it should help. It can be a nightmare to source parts for aging products (DJM9000) to continue production, so a fresh model with newer chips should hopefully be better.

They are very similar. They both use ESS technology 32-bit floating DAC/ADC. Similar converters on the V10. Compared to every top of their series mixer than came before, they are much more accurate in signal response, with great signal to noise ratio.
While the A9 and S11 are similar, the voicing on the V10 has a subtle slight warmth to it in comparison to the A9 and S11. It’s a very small difference in harmonic characteristic.
If you think of a loudspeaker as a magnifying glass; it’s not a difference you would notice on standard powered speakers, but you can tell when the signal is fed through high end loudspeakers for music festivals or concerts. Keep in mind, this is a difference in character, not sound quality. If say you have a residency where they have high end XY series speakers, and you start to notice you can tell when someone is using an A9 vs. a V10, without seeing it in the booth, that right there is the difference. You almost cannot put your finger on it, but it stands out.
Summary: S11, V10, A9; all great sound quality. S11 and A9 are similar in character. V10 is warmer in character.

I own/owned Pioneer 900NXS2, V10, S9, S11, Rane 72, MP2015, Model1, Xone 92, 96, PX5, DB4 and Mastersounds 4V.. aside 4V (I think best sound ever out of my PA), I'm more into Xone side, I think they are able to drop a better frequencies spectrum than Pioneer.. anywhere Pioneer has improved so much their mixers (S9 was ugly!)..

Yes. When you have an external device connected, like another multiplayer or turntable, it can auto detect the tempo. This is a feature that has been on Pioneer DJ 4-channel mixers since the first one, the DJM-500.

Sorry one last question. So other than linking the 2 decks together to share common drive I wouldn't lose much else if I wanted to try this over my Denon x1850?

Its a good a mixer, with or without Pro DJ Link! Some folks will be using it to play vinyl. And you still have all the effects. Link Cue of course would not work since that is a Pro DJ Link feature. But everything else can work with any multiplayer.

Advanced but still can’t use more than one effect at a time, this should have been able to do that with todays cpus
why 3 band eq?
Feedback from artists show that the club standard 3 band eq is preferred for this mixer. If you’re looking for a 4 band EQ, the DJM-V10 is the option.
