Just two years ago right out of high-school I went out of state to study nursing at a college that was way to expensive and also distracting my grades werent the A’s and B’s they needed to be to get into the nursing program so I came back home applied to community college and found out about ultrasound. I have known that I wanted to be a Sonographer since my freshman year of high school. I started college right out of high school and then about a year in life happened (marriage, kids, job..) and I had to put my education on pause to focus on family. After taking a 4 year break, I started my college journey again in August of 2019 and I am so glad I made the decision to do it. I have been dealing with the repercussions of slacking off my first year of college, which really hurt my GPA, but I'm finally able to apply for the program after this semester and I'm so excited and proud I have made it this far. I love that you made this video to share your college journey, it's nice to hear what others have gone through to get where they are. It is very inspiring!

How long did it take you to graduate? I am in my third year of college and thinking about switching from nursing to sonography. I started my nursing program and am beginning to realize I don't think nursing is for me. I mostly went into it because everyone wanted me to. This is what makes wanting to switch so hard for me because I don't want everyone to be disappointed in me. I am also scared to switch because that will put me behind a year so I would be in school for a total of 5 years instead.
Hi Mikayla! It took me 6 years of school in order to graduate. It would have been 7 if I didn’t get lucky to get in when I did, I was an alternate so I could have been pushed back a year but thankfully wasn’t. I’m going to make a video on my specific ultrasound journey. Hope you can stay tuned for that. But I realized nursing wasn’t for me. And that’s the same for me, my family wanted that for me as well. But I switched because I found something I loved. I think if they see you switching to something you’d actually enjoy and like to do, I don’t think they would be disappointed. You can explain to them how you feel, many people go through what you are going through, and what I went through. Don’t be scared if you find something you love. It’s not a race, but I can tell you this much.. I don’t regret it at all. I hope this answer finds you well. ❤️

Lanesia yes! They are accredited by CAAHEP and have a good success rate. They offer both the general track and the cardiovascular track so all you have to do is decide which track you plan on doing. They also have a competitive program. The minimum GPA is 2.5 but obviously you want to have the best GPA to get in compared to other students. And it’s an associates degree so if you’re okay with that, then sometimes associates can be better for someone rather than a bachelors. The degree doesn’t make a difference in pay, what makes the difference is bachelors takes longer to get, you can do more with a bachelors such as become a lead tech somewhere, be able to get a masters to become a director of a radiology department, or perhaps become a supervisor. If you’re not looking to move up, then associates degrees work just fine. I hope this was helpful! ✨
miss, please help me.. I live in the chicago area and i cannot find any sonography programs around my area.. i only find radiology programs.. I’m i not searching for the right terms? Or do i have to the radiology program to get a sonography job.. specifically Ob/ Gyn Ultrasound
Hi there! Look up "ultrasound programs" or "sonography programs" and sometimes they can be under radiology programs with a concentration in ultrasound. Mine for example was apart of the health sciences program called "comprehensive medical imaging" with a an emphasis in ultrasound. You can also look up on www.caahep.org to find accredited schools you can go to! Definitely join Facebook groups online to see if there are anyone who went to school in the Chicago area! I hope this helps, please let me know if you need more information!
LEENA Bxcj hi there! Definitely do more research on this! ✨ Here’s a website you could consider looking into: www.ultrasoundtechniciancenter.org/education/sonography-programs-tech-schools-vs-universities.html
Ate!
Good luck!

@@lolgeselle yes we are hoping for Christmas to be out there if not Thanksgiving.
Veronica Soria yayyy I’m rooting for you!!!✨
Do you recommend applying to CSN Diagnostic Medical Sonography program?
Yes I’m okay with an associates degree. Did you attend UNLV or CSN?
Lanesia I have a bachelors degree, I attended UNLV.
miss, please help me..
Most definitely! Let's get LolGeselle to 1000 SUBS! Miami in the house!

lolgeselle thank you !!!!
LEENA Bxcj my pleasure✨

BabyGSpam awww you’re tooo kind baby g💖
BabyGSpam thank you for supporting 😭😭😭😭✨✨✨
Ate!
Good luck!
Im watching from Texas, and lol love me some Whitney Simmons! haha
Cathy Tran YESSS GUUURRRLL👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Whitney all the way! I’ve always wanted to visit Texas! What’s your fave place to eat out there? Like the one place you’d recommend everyone go to!
@@lolgeselle Texas actually has so many good places to eat... but If I had to narrow it down to two.. one would be a place called Peak Restauraunt, I like it alot because its Nepali and Indian food and different, then I like Uncle Zhous which is a hand pulled noodles henan chinese cuisine, its a michelin restauraunt that came from New York and its soo good!
