There's just one thing. As Airalo's esim is only for data transmission, you can't make or receive phone calls. Which, in principle, wouldn't be a problem since nowadays everything is done via the internet, right? Until the day my car rented by SIXT broke down in the interior of Spain, in the middle of nowhere, and the only way to contact the rental company was BY PHONE CALL! It is serious. There was no WhatsApp number or anything on the rental papers. Only one telephone number to contact in case of an accident or vehicle breakdown. A good-natured Spaniard who was passing by on the road stopped and was kind enough to make the call. Here's a tip.
This seems so simple! I remember when i was in the Philippines in 2011 you had to pay the restaurant desk money for a password for like 30 minutes of wifi
Thanks for an informative video. Questions: 1. once you activate Aíralo can you keep your USA phone number or does the App give you another phone number? and 2. If we’re going to three European countries including Turkey, what package would you recommend? Thanks for your advice beforehand. 👋🏼
Hey there! I tried Airalo eSim and it had the same problems you had. After that, I changed to another supplier. Personally, I find smaller providers like WoW eSim to be more budget-friendly and user-friendly. Their customer service is very friendly and responds quickly. It might be worth it are considering them for your next travel option.
Easy is a relative term. I’m a visual person and would appreciate how the cellular page would look like if I’ve done right for example. Also, if someone calls call me what’s the impact on my account?
Only their global (and more expensive) e-sims include actual voice calling and sms. I have been in multiple situations overseas where i had to call a landline, or receive an sms to confirm something. Data only plans do not work for me.
@@hopscotchtheglobe I cannot call a landline on Whatsapp. Skype out may be a solution but there are limits , some numbers reject Skype calls. And yes sometimes sms is needed. I am not saying these e Sims are bad just saying this would not be my preferred solution.
@tbird2006 Exactly. Too many times, travelers need SMS feature for 2-factor authentication when logging into their credit card/email/social media/utilities and etc… accounts when overseas because those websites automatically assume that their passwords were compromised when the travelers log in with an IP Address from another country.
This is why E sims are not the best. You need to use your phone like an actual phone, not rely on social media platforms. Try to call a hotel or just a random situation, now you have no way to use your phone.
Are the data speeds equivalent to a local SIM? I have T-Mobile which has free international roaming BUT the data speeds are lower. Even their enhanced plan is not equal to local SIM data speeds
Some plans also have calling and texting. Some only have data but with those you can always use Skype or WhatsApp, FB messenger for calls and texts. When you click on a package it will tell you what it includes
Yes, Airalo connects to top cellular networks around the world to provide data. It automatically connects to the best network that's available on the place you're traveling once you activate it.
What about a local phone # though. This is very inconvenient and a huge point you missed. If I can’t call a hotel to say I’m running late or a cab or any # I’m SOL so this is not a good option
Its not the hype it claims to be.... Although Airalo is easy to install, the 1GB package quickly disappeared in 4 minutes when hot spotted to the laptop to check a CC statement, even though video, youtube, music streaming was turned off, when the bench test was performed on a barebone iphone 11 with NO icloud account. Buyer be aware! I have yet to test the 5GB Europe package in Turkey and Greece in a Month. Cheers.
Is it HACKABLE? i mean HOW SECURE IS YOUR PERSONAL DATA WHILE ROAMING IN OTHER COUNTRIES? Should my phone NOT have my bank apps accounts yada yada yada uh???

I've been in situations like that too. That's why I always have Skype on my phone with credit available. Very useful!

Hahaha yes! And I used to use phone cards to call family back home when I first started traveling. It would cost like $5 for 30 mins

Thank you for sharing :)
Thank you so much for such detailed information!
You're very welcome

Also, forgot to ask: do I need to have my local USA carrier activate the eSIM option in my iPhone? I have the 15 Pro Max. Thanks. 🙏🏼
Just got a new Galaxy A14..not eSIM compatible 😔
Will they take minutes if someone is colling me?????

What if you combine it with WhatsApp and Skype to make calls and receive messages?
@@hopscotchtheglobeStill need a solution to get SMS.

I have T-Mobile which has free international roaming BUT the data speeds are lower. Even their enhanced plan is not equal to local SIM data speeds
They use the fastest speeds available in the place you're in. So, I would say it would be faster than using T-Mobile.
Is Airalo a data only SIM, or is it data + calls + text?
Airalo primarily offers data-only eSIMs. However, you can still make calls and send messages using apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage or Skype.
is this only for data? sorry its totally new to me.. what about calls? do we get a virtual number etc?
Some plans also have calling and texting. Some only have data but with those you can always use Skype or WhatsApp, FB messenger for calls and texts. When you click on a package it will tell you what it includes
Thank you!! What about the line? is there good reception anywhere? compared to local sims...

Any idea why when I search a single country it only says "LTE" but the global options show "5G" for those same countries?
Good question. Let me see if I can find that out for you.
I'm going to philippines and china soon but I need to verify my number when accessing my australian bank Web sites will it still work.
Fantastic information, thank you. Question, do you loose your existing phone number from your existing cell provider in the US?
You still have your existing phone number unless you cancel your carrier phone plan.
Very good explanation !
Glad you found this helpful :)
Do we need to switch back to our country sim after you install the esim?
Do you pay any monthly charges after buying any of the eSim packages for Global?
Nope! You just pay for the package for the days you need and then top up from there if you need more days
Hi, @7:24 under My packages is it the topup value? will it activate automatically if you consumed your data? or manually activate it? thanks
what is mean by 3gb to 30days... can I still use for a call / receive until end of 30 days ? (data only)
What about a local phone # though. This is very inconvenient and a huge point you missed. If I can’t call a hotel to say I’m running late or a cab or any # I’m SOL so this is not a good option
This is a data plan, not a phone plan. So to your point, calls are not enabled other than thru voip apps like skype.
Nice dog! LOL
Do I still have my home number?
Thank you ❤
You're welcome 😊
⭐This video is great⭐
That was not detailed at all where are the screenshots

YOU MUST BE SLOW. THIS ESIM IS NOT NEW.
