He is closest to the Duke Ellington of HK, composing a complete songbook at their peak. If you want to know HK, listen to his songs. YT is filled with covers of Shanghai Bund, and Love Without End, though most would not know about Koo.

Koo was born into a Suzhou 蘇州 banking family in Guangzhou 廣州 and moved to Hong Kong in 1949. These immigrants from Beijing-Tianjin 京津 and Jiangnan 江南 areas contributed significantly to the transformation of Hong Kong from a small entreport town first into major light industrial city then financial hub.
