Exactly, Daemon is nothing more than a leashed dog, Rhaenyra and Rhaenys had made it clear, he's just a goon of the Blacks, he has no permision to think by himself. He does as Rhaenyra tolds, that's why in the trailer she tells him his actions made her weak and she can't trust in him.
I'm glad I read this. It took me a couple of days of reflection to realize that that might be the case. Now I don't feel like I'm jumping to conclusions. I think my brain skimmed over the part where they jump to a different scene right after he asks what they do if they can't find Aemond. The Game of Thrones formula says a scene change like that means the question will be answered as we watch It play out.
Honestly I thought it was just going to be a failed assassination. I thought they were going to run up on Aemond without remembering Daemon warned them hes a badass. Or knowing he's there with the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard.
Alicent was absolutely right to tell Aemond he started the war 🤭.

When Otto walked in on Aemond and Cole talking, you asked if he was looking because they werent standing, no he was looking at the map and he knew what they were planning. Otto is VERY perceptive. He knew Cole and Alicent are fooling around when they came into the council together

Greens have 4 dragons, 3 of them are adults (for Aegon, Aemond and Helaena), but Helaena is poor worrior and dragonrider, so de facto they have only 2. Team Black have currently 5 ridden dragons (for Rhaenyra, Daemon, Jacaerys, Baela and Rhaenys) and additional 1 for little Prince Joffrey. 6 other dragons live at Rhaenyra's seat in Dragonstone and on Driftmark, beyond Greens reach.
Emma D'Arcy said 4 lines this entire episode and made me cry 4000 times lol. They are absolutely incredible.
It was Deamon's instruction. When the assassins asked what they should do if they did not find Aemond, the show cut to another scene without an answer to this question. But this answer came in the conversation between the two assassins, that it should be a son for a son (Quote: "A son for a son he said"). Killing the child was therefore Deamon's alternative. The king was also unreachable, so only the boy remained. Basically, Deamon doesn't care which son.
Helena had the vision with the rats (the maid remembered Helena's warning when the assassin stood in front of her). I think she had already seen the death of her son and wanted to change the future. That's why she pointed directly to her son, hoping the killers wouldn't believe her. In her vision, she may have pointed to her daughter and the killers didn't believe her and killed her son. Now she knows that the future is fixed and cannot be changed.
Another possibility would be that she immediately pointed to the son so that she wouldn't lose both children. If the killers had killed the daughter, her son would have died on the throne as king at the latest, if not earlier in the fight for it. A throne that her son may not have wanted anyway. At least that's what she told her husband. So she pointed to her son so that at least she wouldn't lose her daughter, because in this world women are less at risk.
By the way, there is still at least one male heir to the throne of Aegon. In case it was forgotten, Aegon fathered at least one son in the children fighting pits. We saw a son of his there last season. And I think when the time comes, the White Worm will intervene, because she knew what was going on, as did the twins and I think Aemond too (not sure).
Kristen Cole could also get into trouble, because according to Otto's order he should go to his post. The question is where this post was. If he should be at Helena's door, Cole has a huge problem, because he was in Alisant instead.
Aegon as king has no good intentions, he just loves to be liked. That's it. We already learned that in the first season. He does not do good things because they are good, but because he loves to be loved. How he really is has been seen in the children's fight pits and in the rape of girls.

Well we know for a fact thats not aemonds kids, its an interesting idea in some regards but thats not what rhaenyra meant and nothing in the book hints to the idea that aemond was also fucking his sister

I stil don't get why they decided to make Healena crazy from the start. It's this moment that make her go crazy. She had two sons,so when the assassins asked her which one they should kill,she pointed at the youngest (2 or 3 years old) to save the heir. The assassins then killed the heir instead and she went crazy because of trauma and because she knew that she asked them to kill the only son she was left with
You said we hve to pay attention to what Helena says because of her premonitions. She doesnt just mention the rats. She also said (speaking of her son, the heir) "what if he doesnt want to be king?"
The children are Aegon's - so they they're the children of the king. And we can imagine how the murder of Aegon's son will escalate things
Yes Aemond was the intial target but cheese did ask what if we can't find aemond? Got no answer their. So that makes assume that daemon gave permission to kill a son if they couldn't find aemond.

Good reaction. Dogs are used to hunt rats, so they need it to look convincing as rat catchers. It would be like a gardener walking around with a rake or leaf blower today. Actually, there are videos of dogs being used by present day exterminators to hunt and kill rats in real life current on RUclips.

They had to go "soft". Did you expect them to show a child being chopped and slashed to death? The sounds were quite graphic.
The book assassination is significantly more dark.
First, the room was actually guarded but Blood takes the guards out as if it is nothing. Heleana is then asked to pick which of the boys (another change) she chooses to die. After first trying to offer herself up, she picks the youngest and I believe Cheese then tells that kid "Your mother wanted you to die" and Blood takes off the head of the older child.
Now THAT is stone cold.
Now that you told the story I remember it. And it seems really really weird that they didn't take the darker road. These are the creators that Had a mother and father burn their own child alive.
@@natecloe8535 Yeah, it's an odd change as it's an interesting twist. They are already murdering a young child so why tone it down? Especially when the height of the GRRM based shows is the Red Wedding. Not pulling punches on the F-ed up murder schemes is what the audience expects and wants.

The queen sees the future, and as far as we know, everything she has seen that we know of has comes true, so it is likely everything she sees does. If she knows that, she probably knows the only choice was to tell them and escape with her daughter. She just had to come to that realization. 😢😢

The theory of Aemond being father of twins was very popular, but even if he is lover of Helaena, I do not think assasins were aware of it - in show they stumbled on Helaena and her children by accident and came to conclusion they could replace Aemond with another white haired Prince.
And the show somewhat implying (or rooting for the theory) that Daemon is Aemond's father. They casted a very similar looking fellows. In the book, it is rumored Aemond and Alicent had a thing (in the show, there are hints she fancied him). And Aemond is an anagram of Daemon. Literally just put the D from behind, just as they must've snuck the D sometime between Viserys and Alicent's marriage 😅
So just to humor that theory and this theory, then Daemon indirectly killed his grandson. 💀

Killing Jahaerys was not at all what Daemon wanted. In short, the two morons he sent to kill Aemond messed up.

I think Daemon didn't care what son got killed, which is why he was silent when the Rat Man asked him what to do if they didn't find Aeamond. He didn't care. He's so filled with rage, that anybody could get touched, children included. Team Black.
Deamon wasn't silent. The answer was just not shown, but implemented later. What Deamon said was "a son for a son" as an alternative. The king was also unreachable, so in the end it was the boy.

No, that casting is terrible. Alyn and Addam were only teenagers in book, with Addam being older. In show actor for Addam is young, but Alyn looks like he was is in his 30s (and actor is in his 30s). It's bit distasteful to me considering whom Alyn will marry in future. I think it would be better if those actors were switched.

@@baron7755 Yes, they did, but some chnages just does not make sense. Fire & Blodd is chronicle, so author cannot be sure of things that happened inside of chambers, but such thing as AGES of characters should be pretty clear. I do not like idea of Alicent being age-down and made passive player when in book she was adult and active player, and Alyn was not mature man but ienxeprienced boy - those were part of their characters, part who their were.
