THANK YOU! OMG! I have been struggling with this damn app for a year. I didn't have a ekit until my brother lent me his. I followed this and it works amazing. Thank you so much!!!!!! PS.. I am only using a single kick, snare, 3 toms hi hat and 2 cymbals running into my PC and out my UX2. I don't have a pedal for the hi hat either and I am using the USB cable to get the midi inputs. So if you have a similar setup, this works!

Man I really wish I had read all these comments first before purchasing Invasion. I’m really struggling with my hi-hats. Seems a lot of people do. I have the same module as in this video and do exactly as he does but that doesn’t work at all. I had a far better experience with SSD5 free and was hoping this library would trump it. Should have gone for the full version. The lack of support from GGD on all the videos they put out is not only offputting but really surprising too for a small up and coming company. I really hope I haven’t wasted £100 here

Years later. Hi hat issue still not fixed. GGD don’t give a damn about edrummers on all their libraries. They only care about drum programmers. Then they all wonder why Superior Drummer is still sitting at the top of the mountain.

@@jimbo121 yeah certainly geared toward programmers, which is understandable. But there’s so many e-drummers that would benefit massively. I have SSD5.5 full and nothing I’ve tried comes close to it’s ease of use and latency. Still not perfect but I don’t think it ever will be

Great video dude! The real struggle I find here is filling in the rest of those unassigned triggers. Being able to use the e-drums with GGD took me a while to figure out, And it's awesome! ...but what happens when you take this to a piano roll is all the variated drum triggers are all missing. Then you are forced to either reassign the missing triggers (which is daunting) or change the mapping back to the Invasion preset. Which IMO is kind of inconveniently assigned for a person to play e-drums.
GGD should at least have a preset that has E-drums in mind, one that has all the triggers assigned. I love GGD in terms of sound, but Sd2.0 made my life so easy, but I refuse to update for the cost they want so I thought I'd try GGD. I'm very happy with it so far, Modern and Massive only having two hi-hats was a let down, which is why I got Invasion to hopefully get some more hi-hats. And I'm confused why every installment has such a different track routing system and over layout, each interface is so different it confuses my tiny brain..
Overall if your reading this wondering if you should buy GGD... my vote is HELL YEAH. I'm aware that things take time and updates will come. I'm desperate to get a mapping that was similar to sd2.0, one that is similar to the mapping in this video. With all the blanks filled in of coarse. Please help. I'm trying to make a GGD template in logic but I'm missing the mapping. But I am very glad I made the switch.

Is there any way to properly use the choke function? In Superior Drummer I will press learn on the mute articulation, grab the cymbal pad on the edge, then I will just mute the choke articulation so I make the crash quiet when I grab the cymbal. In GGD there is no way to mute the choke articulation and therefore the articulation is useless for playing on e-drums.

  • @sfunfens

yeah.. since this is an official video i´m gonna add here my complaint to the others and say the hi hat CC on this OKW is unusable in an e-kit i´ve tried maybe 30 times in all permutations of mapping and my VH-11 simply won´t work with it, had to make a frankenkit with OKW:Architects and use the hi-hat from there, which i can map, randomly enough.. don´t just put out kits and sail away, provide some support or fix your software. Otherwise, great sounding drums, it really is a shame.

    • @KGTv123
      @KGTv123 4 месяца назад +1

Hey man, I know this is 2 years late, but I totally agree with you. While the samples are pretty damn good sounding, I think the midi mapping to e-kits could definitely use some work. Here is what I have found to get my VH10s to feel as close as possible.
      1. Make sure you set up the cymbal offset. I would look it up in the user manual on Roland’s site, but basically adjust the black washer/screw that is under the clutch on your hi hat stand. Have your clutch loose while doing this and just let the hi hat rest while you adjust the offset washer.
      2. In GGD (within the Kontakt plugin) click on settings. Look for the midi mapping drop down. It will prob be listed as GGD. Switch that to a custom mapping. When you go to the hi hat section, make sure to clear out any mappings for the hi hate so that everything is blank.
      3. Once all the hi hat mappings are blank, click the record button for the “CC” option. With your hi hat open, hit the edge of the hi hat twice to record that midi mapping. Then, further down in the setting menu you’ll see additional hihat CC options. Click the record button next to learn CC and use just the hi hat pedal until that mapping is recorded. Once it’s recorded, enable the “Invert CC” option. I’ve noticed that you will then still need to map “tip tight” and pedal maps. For “tip tight” have the hi hat pedal pressed down then click the record button while still pressing the pedal down. Then, hit the bow of the hit hat twice for it to register the midi map. Then for pedal, make sure to not be pressing down on the hi hat pedal. Click the record button for the pedal midi map. Now, press the hi hat pedal down twice for it to record the midi map. If there are any regions that still feel off, I would add them as need following these same steps. I hope this helps somewhat

Beyond that, despite having the rim of the snare assigned to the snare hit over half the time if I hit it it doesn't trigger either.
It seems like a lot of people have had these issues, but I'm not seeing anyone try to reach out for support which is a little off-putting.

What about Cymbal Chokes? the Alesis Strike Pro allows choking cymbals by squeezing them, which should give a seperate kind of midi signale. But the scqueezing should ideally not trigger the choked Crash, otherwise you'd have two crashed after each other, one normal crash (from hitting it) and one choked crash (from squeezing), no? Is there a way to rouzte the squeezing to simply stop the sound of the crash?

It's annoying that hihat cc only works for the edge and there's no way to have a 2 zone hi-hat work properly for edge and tip hits (and have the sound correspond, obviously you can have both the edge and tip sound the same but they have so many hi-hat samples and with an e-kit you can only use half of them). Unless there is a way to do this and i'm just a fool but i feel like i've tried everything.

Unfortunately aftertouch isn't supported by Kontakt yet!

@@GetGoodDrums thanks for the reply guys.
Sadness. Theres so many great sample libraries for kontakt as well. Guess I might have to suck up for superior drummer then!
