I worked for a concert security company when I was like 22 and I randomly ended up as in house security outside Elton John’s/the band’s dressing room. They were all so nice, and even made me a drink and signed some stuff for me. I got to watch him perform this song from about 10 feet away. I cried lol The whole experience was awesome!

When my daughter was a tiny baby she had terrible colic, and she’d cry for hours. The only thing that would calm would be if I laid her on her back in my arms so she could see my face, and I’d start singing this to her, and eventually she’d be laying there just watching me, listening. A beautiful memory for a beautiful song.

YES! I also dedicated this song for my daughter. She was 2 months premature and was actually stillborn for exactly 4 minutes. As an unbelievably "Tiny" baby, her stats improved when I played Elton John! I thank him for helping my daughter fight !! Now, it's 28 1/2 years later and she has blessed me with 2 grandsons 💖

Lyrics By Bernie Taupin. This is what he said about the lyrics. "“We came to California in the fall of 1970 and it seemed like sunshine just radiated from the populace,” Taupin says. “I guess I was trying to capture the spirit of that time, encapsulated by the women we met, especially at the clothes stores and restaurants and bars all up and down the Sunset Strip. They were these free spirits, sexy, all hip-huggers and lacy blouses, very ethereal the way they moved.”
“They were just so different from what I’d been used to in England,” Taupin continues. “They had this thing about embroidering your clothes. They wanted to sew patches on your jeans. They mothered you and slept with you. It was the perfect Oedipal complex.”

Elton Johns catalog of songs is very impressive but I personally love his earlier music. Especially the album Madman Across the Water. Tiny Dancer was written by Bernie Taupin about his wife. It’s a fantastic song. The song Madman Across the Water is also fantastic.

Hi Twon! New subscriber from Down Under! I have been listening to Elton since the 70's as a teenager! Yes I'm old! Lol! I have also been to a couple of his concerts! Amazing! You NEED to go down the Elton John rabbit hole! Bendy and the Jets,Yellow Brick Road, Elderberry Wine, Crocodile Rock to name a few! Maybe you could try one of those or do some research and try some others from your research! There is a song that has been reacted to lately, Funeral for a friend! I don't know it, however my brother who is older than me says it's good! Anyway give some of his a go, you won't regret it! Take care and stay safe! From Australia.

Elton has a countless amount of hits and was the best selling artist of the ‘70s and is one of the best selling artists of all time. He’s regarded as one of the best rock/pop pianists of all time and had a top 40 hit every year for over 30 consecutive years. He is 73 years old and will soon resume his farewell tour next year after COVID is settled down. The movie “Rocketman” is an Oscar and Golden Globe winning film and came out a couple years ago and is about Eltons life, I highly recommend it btw. Try reacting to the songs “Rocket Man” and “Your Song” just for starters. Great reaction video 👍

Bernie Taupin was one incredible song writer. Elton pairing with Bernie was a strange match that worked perfectly. Taupin had a grand boyish fixation on the mythology of the American west. Props to Elton for being so creative and really bringing the songs alive. What a talent!

I know - I shouldn't make a comment based on someone not knowing an artist, but it's still a shock to hear that someone's never heard of Elton John. The words superstar and icon are splashed around where they're not appropriate, but in Sir Elton's case they definitely are. Nearly 50 years of hits, including some true classics. "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", "Philadelphia Freedom", and "Rocket Man" would be a good intro sampler to the man's music.

Young man, many of the musicians from that time wrote poetry. Metaphors. Cant be exactly understood. Its art. It's for your interpretation. What it means for you. Elton like Dylan like Lennon are poets. You would love the movie " Almost Famous" about musicians and "groupies" from the 70s. This song played on their bus as they were going to another gig. Beautiful. Stay safe

So the woman Bernie was writing about was his girlfriend who was the “seamstress for the band.”
When you think of “Tiny Dancer” imagine this delicate “ballerina” spinning and dancing, and him protecting her like a glass ballerina in a music box. The analogy can work literally like dancing hand to hand, cheek to cheek, of as the music box ballerina as I mentioned earlier.

By the way: I know what you are talking about with headphones. I have a pair of Wicked Audio headphones. They still sound good, but they are falling apart. The frame is held together on each side with binder clips (the clips used to hold larger stacks of paper), and the covering over the ear pads are splitting. They aren't very old either.

Bernie Taupin is the lyricist. He is a master of words. He saw the young hippyis women of The Sunset Strip and wrote this song to express his fascination with them. In England girls did not look like that, at the time. California really did have a groovy vibe during this era.

Elton John is one of those rare artists who cannot seem to write a bad song, but Elton can't write lyrics! That said, he can take anyone else's poetry and find the perfect melody for the words. Even Elton's album cuts are fire! His early works are remembered best but his career has lasted decades, his first album came out in 1969. His albums from 1969 to 1976 were the best overall and had hit singles and great album cuts, the kind of albums you can listen to all the way through and enjoy each song. Sir Elton John has just completed his fair well tour and retired from concerts in 2020 in order to spend more time with his family and to recover from recent health issues. I never got to see Elton in concert but I always wanted to. He is my favorite male solo artist of the 70's and was wildly successful during that decade. Please review more Elton John/The Ballad Of Danny Bailey plus many, many more! He has a vast music catalogue.

This video doesn't match what the song makes me feel. And this song is more about feeling the words and music, and much less about the literal meaning of the lyrics. Basically, he is weaving words within music and wrapping them around a feeling. And the feeling is what it means to you.
Elton John is an artist that sings a paragraph and makes it feel like a poem. Another artist that does this VERY well is Paul Simon. It breaks my heart that there are people who don't even know who he is. Try Diamonds On the Souls of Her Shoes. And for more of Elton John, try Elton John and Eric Clapton, Runaway Train. And Elton's song, Blessed. There are tons more.

Bennie and the jets was not supposed to be a single. Black radio picked it up and blew it out of the water, forcing the record company to release it. Give that one a spin

If I am not wrong, *Elton* didn't write these lyrics, but he came up with all the piano lines.
it was his boy *Bernie* that did, and it was supposedly about his wife, who was a groupie of sorts!!
